Not really, it'd be better to just mount an electric lighter or something on the side. I may just be paranoid but it looks like the cigarettes come out horizontally, meaning if I'm distracted or whatever I got 50/50 odds of grabbing the fresh lit end.

Now, I would give a nut for the loosie machine in general coming back in popularity.

With all due respect, fuck that. I would love this. A modern version could definitely take care of the burning yourself thing. It could just be dispensed really slowly, filter first. It definitely wouldn't cost a penny though which would be the only thing.

Smoking causes external damage. Smell in clothings, second hand smoke and cough it sometimes produce. Eating does not harm others.

The side effects of fast food are more subtle, it causes its own set of nasty health issues, most of which require medical care (heart attacks, strokes and such from a very bad diet). Money doesn't appear out of nowhere, therefore insurance rates and medicare taxes go up. This causes more financial stress to all the folks just barely making it as it is. Stress is very bad for you and with your fast food diet because you can't afford to get off the dollar menu, it's worse. See the cycle?

All of this is true, and are reasons why it's good to work to improve public health in regards to obesity, like the First Lady does. However, smoking has all of those same concerns you've listed for fast food but also has the concern of causing physical harm to those in the vicinity of the smoker.

This is why most of the "uncool things" happening to smokers (which EdtheConqueror) seems to be alluding to are about keeping smokers from forcing others to partake in their habit. Nobody makes you stop eating a burger within ten feet of a federal building because your eating that burger doesn't directly and negatively affect the health of people near you while you eat.

You are responding to someone who says they only see the smoking isue as more important because it harms those around you. As an adult, I can choose to cook beans and rice and not smoke a cigarette, and you can smoke a cig and have a whopper w/ cheese. If you smoke around me it causes damage to MY health, where as the whopper does nothing to me.

the overall health expense rate goes down for both smokers & obese people because they die faster & don't have extended end-of-life health care. unhealthy food and smoking are both ways that people use to cope with stress. moderation in all these things should be encouraged.

In my limited googling it appears that fast food is probably worse than smoking. However I would say that not stopping smoking because fast food is legal is like drinking a weak poison instead of a stronger one.

Back in 1998 there were a few bars in Lexington, Ky that had machines on the wall where you put in a quarter and turned the dial corresponding to the brand you wanted and you would get a single cigarette.

The harm from coke does from overdoing it to excess... not an inherent property of the drug itself.

If you do it in moderation, infrequently, it's about as "bad" as chugging a few redbulls over the course of a night. Blowing fat grams every night is obviously very bad, but then again so is smoking an ounce of pot a week... that shit has a TON of tar in it.

Heroin isn't even really that bad if done responsibly and in moderation. Certainly no physically worse for you than alcohol.

Completely agree. As long as you don't mainline. That is the only thing I stand against when it comes to heroin. But unfortunately we live in a world full of people who like to go overboard and ruin everything for those of us with enough self control to safely and responsibly do drugs.

I've lost a few friends to heroin and coke because of banging it. I could never understand why someone would allow their addiction to get to that level.

I can't lie. Smoking heroin is hella good.

Yep. Basically looks like a car lighter in a box.

The automatic dispenser comprises as a unit a container for holding a plurality of unlit cigarettes which is positioned above a support adjacent to a cigarette lighter or electric heater. A rotatable dispenser which forms part of the unit is positioned between the container and the support. Electronic circuitry is provided to control the length of time the electric heater remains lit, and cam actuated switching devices are connected with the dispenser to energize the electric heater each time the dispenser moves or transports a cigarette from the container to the support for lighting the cigarette. The support is provided with an opening through which the unlit end of the cigarette may be grasped and removed after being lit.

Don't go to China man. Smoking is everywhere, I had recently quit before I went there but I looked around when I landed and said, yep, I'm a smoker again, can't turn down this smokers paradise.

Routine smoking in elevators, hospital lobbies, hell even right in the airport (there are smoking rooms, but people seem to think within 40 feet of the room is ok, or even just walking down the hall to the next flight, if you're covert enough about it).
