I remember when I started seeing a woman a few years ago, on our first date she told me she'd just moved and she had to give her baby away because her new lease didn't allow it. I don't think she realised how it sounded until she saw the look on my face, at which point she quickly clarified that she was talking about her cat, who had found a good home with one of her friends.

they "rise up" to try and make themselves look bigger and more intimidating. I'll assume the "ouncing" is partly an intimidation attempt as well. The running away part occurs when the other parts didn't work.
