  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

Um, this is a picture of me. I did not just get home from Afghanistan. I am actually in the states, I am not the user that posted this either. This was taken from my photo album on d2jsp.org

[–]dayknight1990 77 points78 points ago

Yeah

The guy in the picture is not OP. http://imgur.com/UNMXO My comment is down below. I noticed the guy who submitted the picture kept talking about being in Vancouver the last couple of years...

[–]cb1234 42 points43 points ago

What a fuckin loser. Even when caught lying about it being him, he makes up a different bs lie.

[–]lagann-_- 6 points7 points ago

Proof?

[–]brizna 4 points5 points ago

So did you get that mole checked out or what?

[–]FrogGoesRibbit 12 points13 points ago

It's a birth mark actually. But I do have a mole that needs to be removed.

[–]dayknight1990 38 points39 points ago

If you go through this user's history, he talks about living in Vancouver and being there like 5 to 7 months ago. I know there were Canadian troops in Afghanistan (they left in 2011), but the whole thing is fishy. OP IS NOT THE GUY IN THE PICTURE http://imgur.com/UNMXO

Are you kidding me?! The OP deleted his account?

[–]tj876 7 points8 points ago

Nope, just this post from his submissions. Here you go /u/Unforgiven13

[–]stlcardinal9 6 points7 points ago

HaHa, if you go look as his post submissions all of his content has been downvoted A LOT. His posts starting at the top have a lot of downvotes and get less and less as you go down, dislplaying a trend of users going to his page and just scrolling down and down voting everything! LOL

[–]ken27238 155 points156 points ago

The dog has that "fuck yea he's back!!!" look. :D

[–]koshercowboy 85 points86 points ago

haha it's more like the dog is soaking in a warm clean and relaxing bath that is his owner. Man, that dog missed him so much. All dogs do. All dogs are such warm, cuddly and innocent creatures. Everyone should own one.

[–]Oxxide 14 points15 points ago

now I miss my dog.

[–]koshercowboy 11 points12 points ago

I miss mine, too. I got my first when I was 6 and my second when I was 12 -- over the past couple years, both had to be put down. It was horrible. Truly losing family.

[–]Yoyo8 38 points39 points ago

ahh yiss, mothafuckin belly scratches

[–]munz123 0 points1 point ago

[–]minjooky 152 points153 points ago

You should probably get that mole checked out.

Welcome home!

[–]MrXhin 242 points243 points ago

That's a dog, not a mole. Moles are much smaller, and don't make good pets.

[–]minjooky 13 points14 points ago

They don't pay me to know the difference between small, blind subterranean dwelling rodents and domesticated canines.

They don't pay me at all...

[–]daintydwarf0 11 points12 points ago

this made my fucking day. thanks man.

[–]MrXhin 7 points8 points ago

Making someones day, makes my day.

[–]HabsBiznatch 0 points1 point ago

I just laughed out loud, but REALLY loudly.

[–]jack104 0 points1 point ago

you..........

[–]helium_farts 0 points1 point ago

I saw a mole once will hiking. It tried to steal my peanuts.

[–]WhatsRealLifeLike 23 points24 points ago

Was about to comment on the irregular edges and large size. Welcome back, OP, but maybe mention that thing to a doctor?

[–]Robby712 28 points29 points ago

One redditor diagnosis some cancer and the rest of us go all Dr. Quinn Medicine woman...

[–]candygram4mongo 10 points11 points ago

Kudos for not going with the low-hanging fruit of a House reference.

[–]scottyd23 29 points30 points ago

Just because reddit discovered one man's cancer doesn't mean we have a gift to see cancer everywhere.

But seriously, get that checked.

[–]HasFuckedYourMom 5 points6 points ago

False. Everyone on reddit is an expert.

[–]coocookuhchoo 3 points4 points ago

Actually, they aren't. I wrote my dissertation on the presence of experts on the internet.

[–]HasFuckedYourMom -1 points0 points ago

Ya I'll dissert your tation you sonuvabitch.

[–]ksa2 0 points1 point ago

5 years. Brain tumor. You're welcome.

[–]Fintonius 16 points17 points ago

Glad I wasn't the only one who noticed that.

As I'm contemplating joining up as a psychologist, it's pictures like this that make me either loath ever leaving or feel happy knowing I'll be greeted by everyone I love in this fashion....

Alas, I digress. Welcome home, mate!

[–]Cerael 6 points7 points ago

Joining up as a psychologist?

Sounds interesting, would you mind explaining a bit?

[–]Fintonius 13 points14 points ago

So my life plan is this:

1) Go to CC and get my Associate's Degree

2) Enroll in 4-year institution

3) Enlist in military branch, get money for schooling

4) Become doctor of Pyschology

5) Deployed to either base/field and help out with patients (PTSD, that sort of stuff)

6) Get ripped/get babes

7) Retire when military pension is possible

8) Begin private practice, helping impoverished people with limited access to psychological care

9) Retire and spend days on Reddit.

Any other questions?

Lol I really didn't answer at all....I would be deployed to a base or to someplace on the field helping out in clinics. Eventually, with enough experience, I believe I can become "Commanding Officer" of sorts of my own clinic.

[–]ShaolinMasterKiller 4 points5 points ago

Thats a long road ahead of you. Good luck.

[–]x4EVERALONEx 1 point2 points ago

Getting your degree before enlisting? I only ask because I wish I had gone the officer route since I was just shy of finishing my degree. It makes a huge difference. Make sure you talk it over with someone before skipping out on being an officer, just my suggestion :) have a nice day

[–]Fintonius 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, buuuuut, if I understand correctly, if I obtain a degree before enlisting (Doctorate), then I enlist as a specialist. Am I wrong in this?

[–]x4EVERALONEx -1 points0 points ago

I'm a Marine, so it may be slightly different, but it's just one rank up for us - private to pfc, and all you need is a few hours (like 30 or so, no exceptions for extra degrees or anything, we had a physicist that still just rated pfc) to get that (really not a big deal, it's something you get in 90 days anyways. If you get a degree and are a pretty sharp guy with leadership skills you should go officer. More money, they'll (or at least used to) retroactively pay tuition, and it's the same time commitment (3.5 years I think is the lowest for Marine ground, probably similar for Army). You also rate tuition assistance when you get out. Looks better on a resume and the quality if life is 10x better and the pay is phenomenal. I'm trying to get back in currently with an Army officer program for these reasons. It's a lot easier to do if you do it that way right off the bat.

[–]Fintonius 0 points1 point ago

So go through ROTC for my degree, become an officer? But then I'll have to rearrange my life plan....hahaha thanks for the response!

So, I know you'll be slightly more pointed towards saying Marines are better or worse, but which is the best branch and why? It's something I've been thinking about a bunch. I know I don't want to be in the Navy (sorry) despite my affinity with water, but it's an impossibility for me to decide beyond that.

Ironic twist with the water: I'm on a body of water for 2 hours a day, 6 days a week in the spring for crew. I guess there's a difference between being 20 feet from shore than 20 leagues from shore....hahahaha

[–]x4EVERALONEx 0 points1 point ago

You don't have to do ROTC, there are other options, but in terms of getting school paid for it is certainly the easiest.

I would say the Marines are the hardest, but with downsizing and the increased competitiveness, I've decided to go Army for my officer career. They have the money and depending on the job, there are probably more opportunities for it officer wise.

Marines spend quite a bit of time afloat with the Navy. My brother spent a year straight in the Mediterranean, so that is a plus/negative.

If you have any questions feel free to PM me, I'm not an expert, but I have some anecdotal experience and a general knowledge of the system. One last tip, never trust your recruiter. Get everything in writing.

[–]Fintonius 0 points1 point ago

I'll definitely keep all of those things in mind...thanks for your comments. I may message you in a couple weeks....apparently my school requires us to take career advice from a bunch of ladies that sit around all day.

Apparently. So I may need a reality check in a couple weeks.

[–]SirVinceALot 0 points1 point ago

That pension in the United States is 50 percent salary after 20 years, and higher percentages in increments up to 30 years, which is full salary. Keep in mind that it is a monumental achievement; 20 years of military service by itself.

[–]Fintonius -1 points0 points ago

Well, if I continue with my plan and just add in years....

18 when in college

20 with Associates

24~26 with Doctorate (not 100% sure on that number)

Then.....46 when retired with pension.

Wow. That is a long time.

[–]cobras89 1 point2 points ago

Hey man, try to be an officer in the army. If I'm correct, only commissioned personnel can be doctors. Enlisted become nurses, (that's how it is in the air force.) Try to get a ROTC scholarship to pay for school, and they'll like the idea of a psychology major.

Not to mention, pay and benefits is better!

But good luck with whatever you do!

[–]Fintonius 0 points1 point ago

THAT'S what I was talking about! I knew it was some acronym....didn't register that it would be through ROTC. Guess I need to do more research. Hahaha

[–]cobras89 0 points1 point ago

Haha dont worry. Military brat who has wanted to be in the military since close to second grade, so I was always asking questions and paying attention.

But if you have any questions, feel free to PM me and I'll try to answer them as best as I can.

[–]DaFluffyPuppy 1 point2 points ago

If you want to go to college before the military, consider doing ROTC or SMP. Both are great opportunities that may help you pay for college.

[–]redgroupclan 8 points9 points ago

It's not a birth mark?

[–]nikkiekittie 1 point2 points ago

Some birthmarks are classified as moles....and all moles are considered birthmarks. Either way, OP should get it checked out. Many moles that are very dark in color, large, and irregularly shaped are cancerous.

General note to anyone reading this: Please get any moles/birthmarks checked by a dermatologist (no matter the location). It could just save your life.

[–]DroppinDurians 0 points1 point ago

It's better to be safe than sorry, especially when the statistics are not in your favor.

[–]Robby712 4 points5 points ago

To Dog: Please thank your friend for his service.

[–]Jooniper 0 points1 point ago

As long as it doesn't change shape or become different colors he should be fine, at least that is what doctor told me about a mole I have. I'm pretty sure he's also had to be seen by doctors before deployments and even if he gets a cold. Just sayin'.

[–]Emperor_of_Cats 1 point2 points ago

go pee on a pregnancy test and tell us the results!

[–]Cacoo 356 points357 points ago

Welcome home man. have some karma.

[–]outlaw99775 344 points345 points ago

Yeah, man! I can only imagine how much it would suck to be a Husky in Afghanistan.

[–]GrandmaWithAGun 79 points80 points ago

Thats it-... I'm going in!

[–]momwithlupus 66 points67 points ago

NO! GRAMMA!!! NO! Put away the gun!!!

[–]Billwiz29 5 points6 points ago

Raped_Your_Grandmas got this, don't worry guys.

[–]MongooseJowls 1 point2 points ago

O_o

[–]JBFRESHSKILLS 21 points22 points ago

Shit, now I must travel through the spiral of switch-a-roos. Here we goooooooooooooo.

[–]TheRealMisterMan 2 points3 points ago

Hello future redditors!

[–]eastshores 5 points6 points ago

I clicked that.. and read earnestly believing there was some magical point in reddit history where this first occurred. You... you sent me down the rabbit hole. Fuck you sir.

[–]wipedingold 4 points5 points ago

There was some magical point in Reddit history where this first occurred!

I present to you, the creator of the old Reddit switcheroo!

[–]rockpaperbanana 3 points4 points ago

I've got time

[–]LeSpiceWeasel 7 points8 points ago

I hope you have all the time.

[–]rockpaperbanana 1 point2 points ago

I couldn't do it, i got 20 deep and felt hungry. Now im going for a nap

[–]drinkycroww 0 points1 point ago

Oh god, I insisted on clicking "The old reddit switch-a-roo" links. The the things I've seen man...

[–]It_does_get_in 0 points1 point ago

hmm, :) it's a meme! I've been redditing for over a year and I have never noticed this.

[–]ThatGuy210 0 points1 point ago

It was a long and hard fought journey.. But I'm proud to say that I made it!

[–]emeryshores -1 points0 points ago

Nevermore.

[–]pigeoninabox 0 points1 point ago

I beg you.... don't click on it, you'll regret.

[–]Beartin 0 points1 point ago

I don't know that being a Husky in Afghanistan would be that bad. Might not get quite so easily bogged as these.

[–]dayknight1990 23 points24 points ago

The guy in the picture is not OP. http://imgur.com/UNMXO My comment is down below. I noticed the guy who submitted the picture kept talking about being in Vancouver the last couple of years...

[–]mac_pistol 12 points13 points ago

Thank you for your service. There are a ton of shitheads who don't understand the sacrifice.

[–]InFearofYou 30 points31 points ago

There are also a lot of us who are fairly decent and don't understand the sacrifice. But we still appreciate it.

[–]3Dartwork 53 points54 points ago

Your human pet looks like he is in the military, too. I bet he was glad you got home safely though.

wow that gif times up perfectly

[–]DivinusVox 2 points3 points ago

This comment reminded me how glad I am that that switcheroo shit is over.

[–]hamhead 9 points10 points ago

I think you fail to understand Reddit.

It's never over.

[–]ross-the-sauce-boss 2 points3 points ago

Too bad it's not

[–]It_does_get_in 0 points1 point ago

when was this? give me a time frame for the meme please.

[–]D4rkr4in 0 points1 point ago

.link? What kind of file is a .link file?

[–]ThePaleBlueDot 24 points25 points ago

Welcome back. You should get that mole on your L arm checked out for real tho.

[–]haiku_robot 23 points24 points ago

Welcome back. You should
get that mole on your L arm
checked out for real tho.

[–]xoomerfy 2 points3 points ago

since when is this a thing?

[–]ajleece 19 points20 points ago

You've never seen haiku_robot?

[–]It_does_get_in 4 points5 points ago

it really lacks any tempo though, all its done is line break the second sentence.

[–]polarbear_15 0 points1 point ago

It's kinda impressive that the robot can count syllables.

[–]It_does_get_in 0 points1 point ago

gee, you'd think that that's the least a robot could do. I mean other robots can paint a car.

[–]anonalias 6 points7 points ago

3 years and you've never seen haiku_robot?

[–]i_can_see_yo_brainz 5 points6 points ago

Redditor since:2011-08-13 (1 year, 3 months and 2 days)

[–]yewnique 9 points10 points ago

Hey, on your left arm you have that black/brown mole. That might be melanoma, considering the size of it and the shape; I can't really see that well from the picture. Have a doctor take a look at it.

[–]Fapulous420 1 point2 points ago

...Matt Saracen?

[–]Vincentpersichetti 0 points1 point ago

I know that feel, bro.

[–]Jamdestroyer 0 points1 point ago

Wow my dyslexia made me read "Just got home from Arizona"

[–]dseig001 1 point2 points ago

Dude, have somebody look at that mole. Seriously. MD checking in and a little worried...

[–]zanep0 0 points1 point ago

You should get that mole checked by a specialist

[–]brorca -1 points0 points ago

I think most specialists would say the blissful expression on that black and white-furred growth indicates it's probably benign.

Welcome home.

[–]Joboboman 0 points1 point ago

Mole

[–]too_damn_pixelated 0 points1 point ago

...is your house inside out? That vinyl siding, with houses past the screen, is tripping me up. I NEED TO KNOWWW.

[–]My_Actual_Opinion 3 points4 points ago

Ugh. These pictures were nice at first, but I feel like there is one near the front page every other day.

[–]KingContext 2 points3 points ago

There is and there's a reason for that: PR and recruitment advertisement.

/r/MilitaryConspiracy

[–]Chisel_me_timbers 1 point2 points ago

What you telling me for?

[–]ruinercollector 7 points8 points ago

Please thank your dog for his service.

[–]korahlee 6 points7 points ago

Thank you.

[–]Frijolero 14 points15 points ago

What did he do for you?

[–]cradletogravy 1 point2 points ago

Did you guys ever come to terms with what happened to Pat Tillman?

[–]s0m3th1ngAZ 0 points1 point ago

Just got back as an IA a month ago myself. BEST. LEAVE. EVER.

[–]MakerMark 1 point2 points ago

Individual Augmentee.

[–]s0m3th1ngAZ -1 points0 points ago

He's got it. In the Navy, got sent on a deployment to "augment" an army hospital.

[–]LunaFairy 0 points1 point ago

Welcome home man!! There's some unconditional love coming from your gorgeous friend, not sure he'll be leaving your side for a while!!

[–]Mxblinkday 3 points4 points ago

Trying to think up a clever joke about how the dog just got back instead of the guy. But I'm not clever....

[–]chase82 2 points3 points ago

And late to the game.

[–]lowspeedlowdrag 1 point2 points ago

Why were you wearing Cammies at home?

[–]hatemongeratf 34 points35 points ago

Because no dog will wait for you to change before jumping onto your lap.

[–]dahlek 0 points1 point ago

Because you come home in them. :3

[–]lowspeedlowdrag 0 points1 point ago

I don't think I've ever done that once.

[–]dahlek 0 points1 point ago

Come home in uniform? I figured it was the norm. When my husband returned from Afghanistan he got off the plane in his ACUs every single time, and had to return in them as well. :o

[–]lowspeedlowdrag 0 points1 point ago

Marines are a little different about that, we don't wear camouflage in public, as this guy appears to be doing on his front porch.

[–]Stitchface 3 points4 points ago

Thank god you've got all your limbs. Both because it's nice to have limbs and because it's sad that the only soldier pics that hit the front page are usually wounded soldiers.

[–]Xeasar 2 points3 points ago

How many people's lives have you ruined?

[–]vgacolor 0 points1 point ago

That dog is so happy! I don't care who you are, this picture would make anybody smile.

[–]StaffyBabyfat 0 points1 point ago

That dog looks pretty happy, but he's definitely seen some shit. Afghanistan deployments are no joke, especially for dogs.

[–]aaronoob 0 points1 point ago

Mole.

[–]lynnangel 0 points1 point ago

Now just don't leave again...

[–]thane_of_cawdor 0 points1 point ago

Nice, what'd you do over there? Business? Pleasure?

[–]deckerd 2 points3 points ago

Welcome home! Thank you for your service! From UK :D

[–]ATomatoAmI 0 points1 point ago

JTFC, Afghanistan zones are shit! Glad you made it back in one piece! Bravo to you and your doggie, and I hope your next deployment is boring as hell!

[–]Justinw303 1 point2 points ago

Tell your dog how proud we are of his service to this country. I imagine Afghanistan was hell for him with a coat like that!

[–]WombatWithBoobs 0 points1 point ago

Dude is all happy about being home and seeing his dog and there goes reddit telling him about his cancerous mole. Prolly went from :) to :| real fast.

[–]phone_scissors_pen 0 points1 point ago

Protip: Don't go back.

[–]DownvotesFuelMe 0 points1 point ago

Welcome back, did you have fun with all the killing of people?

[–]yellowjelloknap93 1 point2 points ago

Does anyone else think it looks like the dog is smiling?

[–]ekrej 4 points5 points ago

that's because HE IS

[–]yellowjelloknap93 -2 points-1 points ago

Well excuse me. I didn't mean to upset you. Gracious.

[–]pattertw 1 point2 points ago

"Hope you had fun killing innocent bystanders only to come home to your probably rabid dog." Majority of Reddit

[–]brizna 2 points3 points ago

If that's the majority of reddit, why do propaganda photos always hit the front page?

[–]wugitor 2 points3 points ago

Most of Reddit appears to be "Thank you for killing the brown people for me!".

[–]lynnje 1 point2 points ago

That dog is so damn happy to see you, made my day - welcome home and THANK YOU!

[–]DayzedandSol 0 points1 point ago

Those cammies must be salty as fuck. haha. Welcome home man. Stay frosty

[–]DTOX711 -1 points0 points ago

a picture of a returning soldier with his dog. now ive seen everything....

[–]Kni7es 1 point2 points ago

Welcome home.

[–]gingersnapbear 0 points1 point ago

That is pure happiness. From both of you. Welcome home!

[–]PauseforBong -1 points0 points ago

I thought that was blood on his shorts. Then I realized it was camo pattern. Silly Army.

[–]R3Mx -1 points0 points ago

[–]foolishnesss 1 point2 points ago

[–]Hectorthegreatone 1 point2 points ago

Quick question would you happen to know cpl. Arriaga

[–]Big_bouncy_bricks -2 points-1 points ago
