You can eat these, they're actually pretty good. But the downside is if you handle them incorrectly you're sure to lose a digit. As the name suggests these things actually have the power to crack coconuts open, normal part of their diet. And much like any animal if there's a free meal, they'll go for it, ie unsecured garbage.

If you catch a bunch of them you can't store them together while preparing to cook them, they'll start eating each other. So its kind of labor intensive keeping track of them. And they don't normally let go, so if they have it, they're going to take it with them, digit, banana, fork, knife, etc. It doesn't care, just holds on to that item and walks away. The only thing that eats coconut crabs are humans, and other coconut crabs. Well that I've seen. But they aren't rampant like the Christmas Island crabs though.

Lemon Clover.. that fixes the flavors in eggs and chickens love it, 'cos it's bright and citrus-like. It's pretty much a weed, so it's not hard at all to grow. Good stuff and it's actually tasty. Makes eggs taste really rich. We get our eggs from a neighbor with a half-dozen hens and in the summer I bring the girls pailfuls of the stuff. Mmmmm.
