This isn't from an infomercial. It is just an ad for the show "one born every minute".

[–]giantspeck 67 points68 points ago

Which probably slightly confirms my suspicions that that is a real baby. Which is sad. :(

[–]hottmama1989 51 points52 points ago

Sadly it is a real baby. A baby who is only a few minutes old actually.

[–]MAD_JIHAD 120 points121 points ago

Its ok babies are very resilient, I once rolled a few dozen down a set of stairs and they cried of joy.

[–]so_carelessly_here 55 points56 points ago

And then they just stood there, frozen with excitement.

[–]weskokigen 23 points24 points ago

All cold and stiff from the thrill.

[–]Generalosity 12 points13 points ago

"Surprise study finds link between excitement and Sudden Infant Death Syndrome"

[–]dharrison21 0 points1 point ago

The doctors said they were amazed at all the brain damage I didn't have!

[–]babeigotastewgoing 0 points1 point ago

Its okay, besides a new baby is born every minute.

[–]Hoodooz39 7 points8 points ago

Meh, any parent has accidentally dropped something on their baby at one point. It didn't even wake up the baby. I'm sure he suffered no short- or long-term damage from the event.

[–]Arx0s 16 points17 points ago

Speak for yourself. I dropped my baby off a waterfall on accident, which caused him to turn into a giant ape.

[–]summerof2010 12 points13 points ago

I hope you're referencing something or else that statement is bananas.

[–]Arx0s 5 points6 points ago

Dragonball!

[–]FauxShizzle 14 points15 points ago

[–]hottmama1989 3 points4 points ago

I am guilty of this as well. I have dropped my cell phone on both of my kids while I was nursing them. I feel so bad about it.

[–]comadorcrack 58 points59 points ago

I was born in the hospital were that show takes place. However I was born in the 90's. If my dad dropped a 90s cell phone on me... well then...

[–]Arx0s 74 points75 points ago

Only 90s kids will be affected by this.

[–]Shitty_C418 1 point2 points ago

Lms if you agree...share for Beiber

[–]rook218 7 points8 points ago

God help you if it was a Nokia

oh my god the kid whimpers when the phone hits it. That's a Hole Notha Level

Looped poorly: http://www.infinitelooper.com/?v=GLkp3P6Lyow&p=n#/27;28

[–]CaptainVulva 2 points3 points ago

It's such a touching whimper, too :(

[–]puphop 1 point2 points ago

doesn't say it needs to be an infomercial

[–]Rtbender 26 points27 points ago

Rule: No content from non-ad sources.

[–]calamormine 22 points23 points ago

This is an ad, just for a TV show and not for a commercial product. Not sure if that violates the rules or just the spirit.

[–]secretlypooping 17 points18 points ago

oooh a technicality, i like it. came to the comments to complain about it not being an infomercial but i agree with you. no rules have been broken, just hearts.

[–]biurb[M] 11 points12 points ago

it's an out of context subreddit, i'll take it

[–]hottmama1989 0 points1 point ago

I didn't know sorry. I can only ever use the app and can't see rules from it. I just assumed with the name of the subreddit and everything else I have seen on here that it was for stupid infomercial acting.

[–]justinvt 0 points1 point ago

Let me be the first to compliment your AIM circa 1997 username.

[–]d3isgay 31 points32 points ago

so this subreddit includes all ads? even ads for tv shows? I thought it was strictly infomercials.

[–]summerof2010 19 points20 points ago

I think it's supposed to be just for informercials, but if it's a really funny ad then maybe you can fudge the rules.

[–]LHD91 20 points21 points ago

the problem is if we allow that, it will spiral downhill into what this subreddit isnt about.

[–]summerof2010 4 points5 points ago

Slippery slope. I think we can preserve the spirit of the sub without strict adherence to the "from an infomercial" rule.

[–]mr_jschultz 2 points3 points ago

[–]bluehospitality 0 points1 point ago

That...is a real sub. Huh. Nearly a month old, even.

[–]saultymoosepickles 0 points1 point ago

But really the problem is the hoardes of 12 year olds who have no concept of content being relevant to a subreddit and will upvote it anyway, sadly they outnumber us 3:1

[–]wickedcold 8 points9 points ago

KEEP IT PURE

[–]danne_trix 1 point2 points ago

No content from non-ad sources.

technically it's according to the rules

[–]JakalDX 0 points1 point ago

That lotion one is from a commercial I think. I think if it's sufficiently bizarre, why not.

[–]NotMyBike 74 points75 points ago

Try reading the title emphasizing different words, it's fun:

Are you tired of dropping your cellular phone on newborns?

Are you tired of dropping your cellular phone on newborns?

Are you tired of dropping your cellular phone on newborns?

Are you tired of dropping your cellular phone on newborns?

[–]retinarow 53 points54 points ago

I like to imagine all the different follow up lines.

Are you tired of dropping your cellular phone on newborns? Of course not!

Are you tired of dropping your cellular phone on newborns? Get someone else to do it!

Are you tired of dropping your cellular phone on newborns? Use someone else's phone!

Are you tired of dropping your cellular phone on newborns? Use it slightly further away from them!

Are you tired of dropping your cellular phone on newborns? Let them get a bit older first!

[–]heffocheffefer 18 points19 points ago

Are you tired of dropping your cellular phone on newborns? Our new product puts the joy back into it!

Are you tired of dropping your cellular phone on newborns? Try throwing it at them instead!

Are you tired of dropping your cellular phone on newborns? Try dropping a phone box on them instead!

[–]retinarow 5 points6 points ago

Are you tired of dropping your cellular phone on newborns? Try using cellular respiration instead! (there's not many things that start with "cellular")

[–]SSJwiggy 17 points18 points ago

The baby's flinching arm is what does it for me

[–]Omena123 0 points1 point ago

That nudge is just so funny and kinda sad

[–]girlfrodo 10 points11 points ago

Not only is that a real baby, but it's a real baby on a resuscitaire. So he's dropping his phone on a baby who probably needed a bit of oxygen, and who (from what I can see in this tiny clip) has poor tone and colour.

Double whoops.

[–]merreborn 2 points3 points ago

As far as I know, putting the kid on that table is standard operating procedure. Every kid needs a little oxygen/color in the first hour or so.

[–]girlfrodo 4 points5 points ago

They need colour?

Not every baby needs oxygen... Quite a few can just be born and be left to get on with breathing etc for themselves.

That said, you're right that if it's a caesarian section or instrumental in theatre, it would be standard procedure to pop it on the resuscitaire to check it over and/or give any help it may need before hopefully being able to hand it to the parents.

[–]merreborn 0 points1 point ago

They need colour?
Not every baby needs oxygen...

Kids rarely have a 10/10 apgar, right? "A score of 10 is uncommon due to the prevalence of transient cyanosis, and is not substantially different from a score of 9. Transient cyanosis is common..."

That said, you're right that if it's a caesarian section... it would be standard procedure to pop it on the resuscitaire

Ah. That's why the did it with my kids, both of which were born by c-section :)

[–]girlfrodo 2 points3 points ago

I see! :) Glad we puzzled that one out together :P

EDIT: You added the first bit after I posted! Sneaky hobbitses. Yeah, hardly any babies have Apgars of 10/10 because a 2 in 'colour' requires the extremities to be pink. Most babies have pale or blueish extremities not only when they're first born, but - as you'll know as a parent - this continues whilst they're quite little. Which is why we try and keep 'em warm. What I was saying is that that particular baby, in that fuzzy gif, looks slightly on the pale side, which combined with the floppy arms and legs is why I'm not surprised he's on the resuscitaire. And I didn't understand what you meant by 'Every kid needs a little oxygen/color'.

It's a clip from a trailer for 'One Born Every Minute'. He did it by accident, and probably wanted to curl up and die.

[–]GeekByMarriage 15 points16 points ago

Annnnd I'm going to feel bad later for laughing at that.

[–]mojorisin2592 2 points3 points ago

No you won't

[–]leif777 2 points3 points ago

It would have been really tragic if he had a Nokia 3310.

[–]Baconpuffs 0 points1 point ago

OH MY GOD THE HORROR IF IT HAD BEEN!

[–]WeForgotTheHarpoons -1 points0 points ago

ಠ_ಠ

[–]Redplushie 3 points4 points ago

Please tell me that is not real. Pleaseee

[–]IMAMODDYMAN 1 point2 points ago

that guy looks like mac from its always sunny

[–]Lore86 0 points1 point ago

CUT! I don't like it, c'mon crew, take #9!

[–]osprey6969 -1 points0 points ago

That baby's dead, yo

[–]ksaj 0 points1 point ago

His reaction is so slow that he must have inhaled some of what they're giving that baby.

[–]YummyDrFood 0 points1 point ago

Could be worse though. This could be 1983, and that could be a Motorola DynaTAC.

[–]TheDroopy 1 point2 points ago

The little arm twitch is gold

[–]_Jolteon 1 point2 points ago

Oh man, a Palm Centro.

I thought I had the last one in all of existence.

[–]zleuth -1 points0 points ago

Doctor, what are you doing? Shouldn't you wash your hands first? Doctor?

[–]atvw 1 point2 points ago

If this was the Doctor then he would have dropped his tardis on the baby instead of a cell phone.

[–]Zazilium 0 points1 point ago

This isn't from an infomercial, but it still makes me laugh every time.
