[–]Curious_Englishman 1 point2 points ago

I was there too! Last year the day before holi.

[–]xrelaht 0 points1 point ago

Post this to /r/Elephants for extra karma.

[–]pasinduthegreat -1 points0 points ago

Yup. This definitely isnt Sri Lankan. This is how we do it.

[–]12358 0 points1 point ago

Young elephants are tortured until they submit to domestication. Elephant "trainers" usually stab them with painful hooks or picks to control them throughout their lives.

[–]Nipper83 3 points4 points ago

What a coincidence, that's the same way I raise my kids.

[–]Theorex -1 points0 points ago

And?

What!?hell on earth!? You dont have a clue do you??

[–]djlewt 130 points131 points ago

Somewhere in America a "slightly obese" man is missing an outfit.

[–]liamsnorthstar 20 points21 points ago

Most likely in the Mississippi area...

[–]urus_sum 19 points20 points ago

[–]ch00d 11 points12 points ago

wat.

[–]Veritium 10 points11 points ago

I think that is an American

[–]420ish 6 points7 points ago

Kind of looks like the Wal-Mart greeter who won't even stand up to give you that pink sticker for your returned items and you have to walk to them as they hold a sticker up on their thumb.

[–]HalfBredGerman 5 points6 points ago

Or his wife

[–]Dean_Peterson 2 points3 points ago

ALL ABOARD THE "AMERIKKA IS FAT" KARMA TRAIN! CHOO CHOO!

[–]LouisianaBob 11 points12 points ago

Of course we take the train. I ain't walkin'.

[–]shlack 0 points1 point ago

Well the states does have the highest obesity rate in the world.

[–]The_Vagina_Whisperer 0 points1 point ago

Damn straight!

Say... could you give me a hand up?

[–]MtnMan87 1 point2 points ago

Al Borland is looking good

[–]UpSiize 0 points1 point ago

Omg! His zipper is down!

[–]Radico87 -1 points0 points ago

"Curvy" that's what they call themselves nowadays.

[–]sn5484 0 points1 point ago

It is kind of sad how similar it looks. In real life the elephant is obviously many times larger but in this picture it looks like those pants might actually fit someone here.

[–]Theorex 0 points1 point ago

Who stole my damn jeans?

[–]theronin23 0 points1 point ago

...LAST fucking time I lend my pants to him.

[–]Spatchmo 40 points41 points ago

Since when has your mom been lending out her clothes?

[–]ForgottenPhoenix 16 points17 points ago

Since your mom outgrew them.

[–]reacher 4 points5 points ago

Since when has your mom been lending out her baby clothes?

[–]WarAndRuin 1 point2 points ago

Oh snap

[–]Khiraji -3 points-2 points ago

[–]FrisianDude 18 points19 points ago

Nice phants.

[–]baconwave 8 points9 points ago

I see your mom is starting to lose weight.

[–]gwar37 7 points8 points ago

The whole event this photo was taken at (in Jaipur, India) was a complete tourist trap, and they treated the elephants poorly and you could clearly see they weren't well cared for. A lot of the British and American tourist that were in attendance left during the middle of it. It was kind of a bummer.

[–]huckfinn5891 5 points6 points ago

That's a frighteningly accurate American Republican costume.

[–]queenbrewer 9 points10 points ago

FWIW this was in Jaipur, India, not Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka tends to treat its elephants very well. I just visited the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage when I was there last month and it seemed totally above board.

[–]ha5hmil 5 points6 points ago

Being a Sri Lankan i feel terribly ashamed to not have visited the elephant orphanage, even though at least twice a year i drive past pinnawala to Gampola to visit family. sigh.

also yeah, this doesn't look like in Sri Lanka. good call.

[–]windsong5309 4 points5 points ago

You should go! I go there every time I can. I remember watching a Steve Irwin show where he visited the orphanage and pointed out the famous elephant whose leg was blasted off by a mine. It's great going to visit her. :)

[–]queenbrewer 3 points4 points ago

I saw her when I was there last month! And some newborns along with the rest of the herd.

[–]windsong5309 3 points4 points ago

Aww, baby elephants. Wish I were back there...

[–]pasinduthegreat 3 points4 points ago

We should totally go together sometime...

[–]windsong5309 2 points3 points ago

You can take me when I get there next year.

[–]thenuka 3 points4 points ago

Yup..you should go! Also wasgamuwa/yala if you want to see wild elephants!

[–]Tyger_44 2 points3 points ago

You are kidding me!? Thats the first place i tell people to go and visit in SL.

[–]thought_i_hADDhERALL 0 points1 point ago

Holy shit my people are on reddit!

[–]Nikiniki 5 points6 points ago

I feel bad for the elephant :(

[–]SharpFocus 0 points1 point ago

My question isn't even why, it's how. I mean, how do you convince an elephant to put jeans and flannel on?

[–]thickrickdick -1 points0 points ago

beatings

[–]AmberLS -1 points0 points ago

peanuts?

[–]fauxman 2 points3 points ago

Why is that Sri Lankan riding a republican?

[–]Motarded_Rider 2 points3 points ago

Elepants.

[–]thefigpucker 4 points5 points ago

So that's where my extra pair of pants went.

[–]maliciouslogistics 4 points5 points ago

Please allow me preemptively suggest that the elephant's clothes came from the junior's section of a department stir in the US.

[–]brightcityvice 33 points34 points ago

And may I preemptively suggest that these clothes were worn by your mother before she outgrew them

[–]donut_eater3000 9 points10 points ago

Department stir.

[–]Armonster 1 point2 points ago

stir fry.

of clothes.

[–]feng_huang 0 points1 point ago

Stir... Friday?

[–]catskul 0 points1 point ago

Thank god for Walmart.

[–]Pussychutney 2 points3 points ago

All I see is John Goodman

[–]christhomas123 0 points1 point ago

I'm glad it wasn't just me who saw that...

[–]hotstuff23 2 points3 points ago

and i can't even get my cats into cute outfits :(

[–]CantStopDontStop -1 points0 points ago

That's enough flannel on that thing for like, 7 grunge bands. And Jeff Foxworthy is salivating over all that denim.

[–]thefalsecognate -1 points0 points ago

Sri Lanka's "Big and Tall" stores diversify their clientele. Also this elephant looks like people on the public bus in my city.

[–]thedirtyspatula -1 points0 points ago

An advocate for the big and tall section if I ever saw one.

[–]istrebitjel -1 points0 points ago

Benjamin Blümchen gefunden!

from a German Children's story

[–]jelde 1 point2 points ago

this is why elephants trample people.

[–]bigwaffleman -1 points0 points ago

OP how did that elephant get your mom's pants?

[–]FaggotsScaredAtBBQ -1 points0 points ago

denizen is the brand of jeans they sell at target. I thought this was my husband from behind.

[–]Bixby66 -1 points0 points ago

It looks...so natural. Like all elephants should wear clothes like this.

[–]captainburnz -1 points0 points ago

Stop! Those are prescription pants.

[–]Jake_91_420 -1 points0 points ago

Probably shouldn't make an elephant wear jeans! Just saying.

[–]bh65 -1 points0 points ago

Babar

[–]MrPizzlyBear -1 points0 points ago

King of the Elephants!!!

[–]zzt711 -1 points0 points ago

Pants still need to be a little bit lower to complete that gangbanger style.

[–]Disco_Drew -1 points0 points ago

This could have come from Peopleofwalmart.com

[–]chefanubis -1 points0 points ago

More like casual wednesday at your local Best Buy.

[–]close_enough_ -1 points0 points ago

someone needs to hit the gym!

[–]ha5hmil -1 points0 points ago

/r/malefashionadvice would not approve.

[–]Rend0n -1 points0 points ago

How!?

[–]ringringbananalone -1 points0 points ago

Oh dear, that American tourist seems to have lost his white sneakers.

[–]fakethepolice 1 point2 points ago

All I see here is someone riding a Wal-Mart shopper.

[–]mrmeowman -1 points0 points ago

There's a video to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_qb3D_Emh4 and you can watch them bathe and dress up the elephant.

It was a publicity stunt for a Levi's sub-brand, Denizen. They did this travel contest thing where the winners were paired up and sent to different countries to 'get experiences' to design one-off jean designs. The vids look mega staged, but their experiences were pretty cool in the end - a pair of them played fire hockey in Mexico, and the Mexican-Indian pair were sent to Jaipur to dress up an elephant for this parade.

[–]cheruchan -1 points0 points ago

I stared at this for far too long before realizing what was weird.

[–]another_old_fart -1 points0 points ago

Welcome! To Phantasy Island!

[–]gingerdicks -1 points0 points ago

Day 22: The natives still have not discovered I am an elephant

[–]need_pics -1 points0 points ago

Not sure if I can cry or laugh.

[–]SeanMyklKing -1 points0 points ago

Bullshit... That's a picture of your parents during foreplay.

[–]Curious_Englishman -1 points0 points ago

Holy shit I took this photo! It's in Jaipur, India.

edit: Turns out I am a liar. This is the photo I took http://i.imgur.com/9YEtz.jpg

[–]smow 1 point2 points ago

looks like walmart in america.

[–]tickleberries 1 point2 points ago

Gosh, I want to make so many cute jokes but that poor elephant can't go to the bathroom without thumbs!

[–]Heagram -1 points0 points ago

there for a second i thought this was someone seen at a golden corral

[–]Coconutcanon -1 points0 points ago

Boss-a-phant

[–]TlFF -1 points0 points ago

John Goodman? Is that you?

[–]AFRO_PIXEL -1 points0 points ago

omg jeans on an elephant pretty sure ive seen everything now

[–]s_al_pal -1 points0 points ago

Probably borrowed an American's pants, though.

[–]degenerate_imbecile -1 points0 points ago

Chris Christie called. He wants his pants back.

[–]Vayren -1 points0 points ago

As a Sri Lankan who was in Sri Lanka 3 weeks ago, I can confirm we do infact dress our elephants in clothes to preserve their modesty. We're not inhuman savages, forcing them to go naked as they labour!

[–]UncleRobbie -1 points0 points ago

I thought it was Chris Christie.

[–]bumblelikebees -1 points0 points ago

AHHH this makes me so happy!!! :D

[–]dudeness23 -1 points0 points ago

That's a BIIIG BITCH!

[–]dickcheney777 -1 points0 points ago

They ride Americans in Sri Lanka?

Edit: India, since OP seems full of shit.

[–]Joobawka -1 points0 points ago

I thought this was a picture from "People of Walmart".

[–]sensitivePornGuy -1 points0 points ago

It's clearly Elmer's day.

[–]oodlynoodles -1 points0 points ago

Not Sri Lanka.

[–]MakkaCha -1 points0 points ago

I want to ride in it's pocket.

[–]Carmenmor -1 points0 points ago

Hey it stole an american's clothes! Not cool bro.

[–]SomeGuyInChicago -1 points0 points ago

Looks like Jared found a use for them old jeans.

[–]esrith -1 points0 points ago

LOOK AWAY ITS THE MEXICAN STARING FROG!

[–]mindaika -1 points0 points ago

Hey, they got yo' momma's pants!

[–]TipOfMyAnus -1 points0 points ago

That was subtle. Well done.

[–]Apoptosis94 -1 points0 points ago

Oh how sweet. John Goodman donated his Roseanne outfit to poor elephants. Philanthropy at its finest.

[–]Musicray -1 points0 points ago

Elephants are such friendly animals :) well, most of them

[–]loliwearhats -1 points0 points ago

Hey look, it's the Governor of the Great State of Mississippi!

[–]Presto94 -1 points0 points ago

Alright. The seventh grade side of me that was obsessed with "yo momma" jokes immediately surfaced when I saw this and I thought, "Look, that elephant borrowed your mom's pants" God, I need to get out more often.

[–]JoseColina -1 points0 points ago

BEST. IDEA. EVER.

[–]Sithun -1 points0 points ago

Theres a Lewis commercial in this somewhere...

[–]JSimmo 0 points1 point ago

He stole my jeans!

[–]Teenage_Handmodel 2 points3 points ago

I need more of this!

[–]Tsiphon -1 points0 points ago

OP made an error, this is a picture from inside my local Walmart.

[–]Diffie-Hellman 1 point2 points ago

For what it's worth, that's also what most of my coworkers look like.

[–]MrPizzlyBear -1 points0 points ago

To me, this is r/aww material...

[–]mrgreenjeans9 -2 points-1 points ago

[–]lmjr1978 -1 points0 points ago

Thought that was the average American until I read title...

[–]ipackheat -1 points0 points ago

"American tourists in Sri Lanka"

[–]charl2486 -2 points-1 points ago

this is so not funny...poor animal

[–]Boognish80 -1 points0 points ago

It thinks it's people!

[–]b0mb -3 points-2 points ago

The Sri Lanka Mexican staring frog!

[–]Chootrattanarood -1 points0 points ago

In all seriousness, as much as elephants deficate, it has to be ridiculously uncomfortable for that pachyderm.

[–]wellhushmypuppies -1 points0 points ago

wow -- and he doesn't even have to get the elastic waistband kind like I do. Now I'm really depressed.

[–]Minerva89 -2 points-1 points ago

For a moment I thought it was just another picture of a fat 'Murica woman. Sad how they look so much alike.

[–]CaesarDan -2 points-1 points ago

It's funny because those are probably clothes from somewhere in the Midwest.

[–]enjoinirvana -2 points-1 points ago

I wonder if they sewed the clothes onto it or actually dressed it up. Either way, impressive.

[–]AkiraInugami -2 points-1 points ago

fuck animal cruelty..

[–]username_win -4 points-3 points ago

Wha...How th...I'm confused

[–]r_shawshoe -3 points-2 points ago

I thought i left you in Sri Lanka, working the desk at the sex hotel?
