Them you'd get people stealing other peoples bullets... With knives

[–]Trentious 68 points69 points ago

It's simple. Knives with ammunition, duh.

[–]Osiris02 47 points48 points ago

Scout knife with a surprise. You Spetsnaz?

[–]SonicSlice 13 points14 points ago

SNAAAAAAAKEEEEE

[–]byniri 29 points30 points ago

Or a gun that shoots knives.

[–]Toxikomania 54 points55 points ago

Call me crazy but I heard of some amazing device called a "crossbow".

[–]jt663 5 points6 points ago

Ora sniper knifle

[–]slapded 21 points22 points ago

or a knife, that shoots GUNS

[–]caes08 5 points6 points ago

[–]PinneappleSoup 5 points6 points ago

Son, You just went full retard.

[–]ANEPICLIE -1 points0 points ago

never go full retard.

[–]rkim 22 points23 points ago

[–]bobbygabbagool 2 points3 points ago

"Or the dogs with bees in their mouth and when they bark they shoot bees at you?"

[–]slapded 0 points1 point ago

Knifey-Spoony

[–]raging_asshole 0 points1 point ago

Actually, they make knives where the blade shoots off as a projectile. Commonly known as a "ballistic knife," or sometimes called a "spetnaz knife" by the internet. Usually spring driven. Super illegal in all 50 states.

[–]asianfarmer 0 points1 point ago

whooosh

[–]bluenowait 5 points6 points ago

[–]LukeDude759 0 points1 point ago

As in ballistic knives?

[–]melthornal 207 points208 points ago

Or people making bullets. It isn't rocket surgery.

[–]codygooch 20 points21 points ago

With a blunderbuss, ANYTHING is a bullet.

[–]dude187 2 points3 points ago

Including zombie parts.

[–]Brohanwashere 0 points1 point ago

One of my favorites. The timing is so perfect.

[–]RorySBarnes 0 points1 point ago

I just adore how when he says "Sorry I'm late, just got held up at the space center" and there's a woman in the audience who instantly loses it.

[–]Birdslapper 25 points26 points ago

wat

[–]Oed0 69 points70 points ago

Brain science doesn't sound as good.

[–]Mister_Meowgi 25 points26 points ago

Cause it's a real thing.

[–]Chillinvillain123 18 points19 points ago

Take your "real" somewhere else. We don't need that here.

[–]riggsinator 3 points4 points ago

Out with the reality shows. Need more neuro-physics.

[–]riggsinator 2 points3 points ago

Dammit Wikipedia... I'll get you next time!

[–]MagnusTheGreat 2 points3 points ago

Rocket brain science surgery sounds awesome though.

[–]Motorsagmannen 2 points3 points ago

i envision using tiny guided rockets, to operate on brains... for science

[–]Oed0 2 points3 points ago

Were they white and red? . . . mine were white and red.

[–]gigashadowwolf 0 points1 point ago

Mine too.

[–]Motorsagmannen 0 points1 point ago

strangely enough, they were. white bodies, and solid red wings and nosecone

[–]I3lackcell 2 points3 points ago

yep, my first thought, making ammo isnt that hard, and worth it if it was that expensive.

[–]redditchao999 2 points3 points ago

Yeah, but I know some people who try and make bullets well. They don't.

[–]I_decide_up_or_down 17 points18 points ago

It really isn't that hard. You can by all of the necessary components for bullets and assemble them yourself. Shotgun shells you can reload for about a quarter a piece, 50 cents for a rifle round. (varies depending on caliber price of lead etc.)

[–]Hipster_Hippo 4 points5 points ago

I know, we could make it against the law to kill and steal.... wait

[–]NaggerGuy 3 points4 points ago

Then ban knives... and then sticks and stones. We need to get back to our roots and slam each others heads on the ground.

[–]Malgas 15 points16 points ago

The ground should cost $5000.

[–]FreedomOps 7 points8 points ago

It's called property tax.

edit: Grammar

[–]Klowned 0 points1 point ago

I guffawed loud and scared the piss out of my dog.

[–]tiyx 0 points1 point ago

No you just getting people making there own, like they do now.

[–]LGTDBN -1 points0 points ago

It doesn't work that way, you can't just assume people who commit violent crimes with guns would continue to do so with knives. It's much harder psychologically for people to commit crimes with knives because it's much more personal. There's also the fact that it would be pretty difficult to stick up a gun store with a knife.

[–]Kaluthir 3 points4 points ago

I've heard people say this a million times, but I haven't seen a source to back it up. Most shootings occur at pretty close range, at least close enough that the shooter can see the victim's face. How is that any harder than killing someone with a knife?

[–]zerato 0 points1 point ago

In my opinion it would be harder for me to feel the knife stab into a person than it would to pull the trigger

[–]Kaluthir 2 points3 points ago

That may be true, but I feel like it would be like hunting: everyone always says that we would eat a lot less meat if we had to kill the animals ourselves, but I think that's a load of shit. I've killed my share of deer and even after learning to clean it (read: slit it open and pull its guts out), I've never had a problem eating meat. If I was in a situation where I really felt like killing someone was the only viable option, I don't think the tool would make any difference.

[–]zerato 1 point2 points ago

I agree

[–]relishhunter 0 points1 point ago

Hard for you, not for a psychopath.

[–]themanbat 0 points1 point ago

You're wrong about that. Check out London. Not as much gun crime there, (though there still is plenty) but plenty of knife crime to make up for it. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_London#Gun_and_knife_crime But for the sake of argument, lets pretend you are right. Clubs. Baseball bats. Fists. An absolute ban on guns makes these kinds of assaults more likely, because the big strong guy with a club doesn't have to worry about the little gal he's mugging pulling out a pistol and shooting him.

[–]MattPH1218 111 points112 points ago

"I hate the electric chair. Because electricity goes through there and electricity costs money, tax payer's money! My $50! There's a lot of cheap ways to kill someone. Stabbin don't cost a damn thing! Get a stabbing chair!"

[–]Novaglarion 65 points66 points ago

The blunderbuss would probably become really popular again.

[–]lolzergimba 38 points39 points ago

Or crossbows

[–]Klime22 22 points23 points ago

Or flamethrowers.

[–]segagaga 16 points17 points ago

Or catapults.

[–]Uncle_Jemima55 15 points16 points ago

Or Hands.

[–]Granite-M 12 points13 points ago

Or... lamps.

[–]Rmountz95 12 points13 points ago

Or Penis

[–]auxiliary-character 10 points11 points ago

Has anyone really been murdered with a Penis?

[–]Rmountz95 7 points8 points ago

No, but it would make a good attack story.

[–]Battletooth 15 points16 points ago

Especially in jail.

"So what did you do to get in here, new guy?"

"Me? Oh, nothing. Just killed a man "

"Yeah? Me too! You're not so tough!"

"You didn't let me finish. With my penis."

"Wait, are you saying that I didn't let you finish with your penis, or I didn't let you finish, and the ending to how you killed a man is with your penis? The way Battletooth wrote our dialogue makes it sound plausible either way, because both situations are equally weird."

"The latter."

"Oh shit, you can uh, have the top bunk! Don't hurt me. With your penis."

[–]caveman_rejoice 2 points3 points ago

Two people are killed by peens in A Serbian Film.

people still go to ITT?

[–]feureau 15 points16 points ago

Nope. They just log in.

[–]ImpressivePenis 19 points20 points ago

ITT: People thinking way to hard about a classic Chris Rock joke.

"Too" is spelled "too".

[–]ordinaryrendition 29 points30 points ago

No, people were contemplating routes to erection.

[–]Osiris02 15 points16 points ago

Thanks for clearing that up, want a job as my Reddit editor? A Reditor if you will?

[–]PJae 1 point2 points ago

I see it ... And I loved it

[–]lost_trilogy 0 points1 point ago

That sounds so much better than my analyst therapist job.

[–]Int0TheV0id 42 points43 points ago

You omitted the funniest part of the joke about putting bullets on Lay-Away.

[–]IIdsandsII 54 points55 points ago

that image was long enough

[–]CrackedPepper86 -1 points0 points ago

And not even Chris Rock necessitates that many exclamation points.

[–]trampus1 14 points15 points ago

They put $50,000 worth of bullets in his ass

[–]TheZad 7 points8 points ago

This. The full line is "Damn he musta did somethin'! Shit they put $50,000 worth of bullets in his ass!"

[–]AnttiPanttiElefantti 38 points39 points ago

[–]WorkoutProblems 5 points6 points ago

still one of the funniest stands up, I miss Chris =(

[–]QD_Mitch 26 points27 points ago

It's not like he's dead. He's not on tour right now, but he is a working comedian in-between movies and whatnot.

[–]onowahoo 29 points30 points ago

Chris Rock R.I.P.

[–]blue_strat 5 points6 points ago

Here we go.

[–]MattPH1218 0 points1 point ago

The movies have unfortunately been pretty meh. No ones tryna see Grown Ups 2.

Head of State was hilarious, though.

[–]spage6 1 point2 points ago

They still play this special on Comedy Central at least once a month.

[–]soar 1 point2 points ago

What's the name of that stand up show so I could watch it?

[–]MattPH1218 0 points1 point ago

This one's from Bigger and Blacker. Never Scared is also hilarious.

[–]thc1138 10 points11 points ago

Someone watched Bowling for Columbine when it was in TV two days ago...

[–]mrbarry1024 2 points3 points ago

We watched it in year 8 RE. Amazed that teacher didn't get sacked.

He was cool.

[–]skipdog172 14 points15 points ago

probably shoulda got sacked... so much BS in that documentary LOL

[–]dude187 5 points6 points ago

That comment would have been much better without the big "LOL" at the end...

[–]Damwing 0 points1 point ago

can you give specifics, we were watching that movie in english just a few days ago..

[–]psychopompus 19 points20 points ago

Good idea. BTW, "they" should "make" heroin cost $1000000 so nobody will do it anymore.

[–]Vidmerz 0 points1 point ago

Last time I checked, heroin isn't sold retail. Increasing the monetary value of bullets would to some extent reduce the rate of murders, seeing as how they are sold retail.

[–]allliam 3 points4 points ago

I think op's point was that you can't make something cost more than its black market price. Bullets are easy to manufacture (you can make your own pretty easily), small, and harder to detect than drugs (no dogs / chemical detectors). Right now a .30 cal. bullet cost about 20¢, I'd imagine illegal bullets wouldn't cost more than $1 each.

[–]Ur_mum 0 points1 point ago

You understand nothing of market forces.

[–]CallMeAnEngineer 9 points10 points ago

As a hunter, gag on a cactus.

[–]rahan69 33 points34 points ago

Or worse, only rich people could afford to murder someone.

[–]pizzlybear 112 points113 points ago

I know right, everyone has the right to murder.

[–]Reesch 12 points13 points ago

Find some rich guy with a stash of 50 bullets and shoot him with one of your own.

Murder would be so profitable.

[–]mr_brett 2 points3 points ago

Well theyre the only ones that can afford to get away with it so whats the difference?

[–]Inarx 0 points1 point ago

'cause they can't do that with cheap bullets.

[–]JaxRiens 6 points7 points ago

because you need bullets to kill someone.....

[–]Inarx 0 points1 point ago

That too.

[–]getchar -1 points0 points ago

How would that be any different?

[–]ipn8bit 4 points5 points ago

I think you would just make a ton of people learn how to make bullets.

[–]Rufflemao 5 points6 points ago

i'm not sure there would be no mode innocent bystanders if no one was able to learn to shoot

[–]gkiltz 8 points9 points ago

If you knew the owner had a gun, would YOU break in???

[–]LogicalWhiteKnight 0 points1 point ago

If bullets were $5000 a piece, fuck yes, think of the payoff! One box of 50 bullets is $250,000.

[–]shenkhar 21 points22 points ago

Its not like bullets are terribly hard to manufacture... we would have a bullet black market.

[–]griffin8116 105 points106 points ago

It's not like this is literally taken from a comedian's stand up routine or anything.

[–]grunger 11 points12 points ago

It maybe taken from a stand up's routine. The problem is that Chicago just tried to pass a bill with this exact thought process in mind. They wanted to pass a $.05 tax for every round of ammunition sold. Which for smaller rounds, like the .22 lr, the tax would have been more than the round.

Also, Colbert and Stuart are both comedians, and far to many people take them for serious news. So it isn't unreasonable for someone to be worried that people will take this seriously.

[–]ChiefSittingBear 0 points1 point ago

Is that $0.50 or $0.05? I assumed you meant $0.50 until the .22 part, which even $0.05 would be more than a .22 round.

[–]grunger 1 point2 points ago

yes, .05, stupid fingers.

[–]OccasionalAsshole 5 points6 points ago

I'm as pro gun-rights as they come but, come on man, it was a joke.

[–]shart-attack 17 points18 points ago

My take on gun control... Put laws in place that make it illegal to posses firearms, disarming all of the law abiding citizens trying to protect themselves and their loved ones. Criminals who break the law, continue breaking the law by possessing firearms and we make it easier on them because no one else will be armed. BRILLIANT!!!!

[–]dearastronomer 10 points11 points ago

My take is that instead of restricting second amendment rights, we need tougher sentences on violent offenders who use a gun. Far as I'm concerned, armed robbery should rank up there with attempted murder.

[–]dude187 1 point2 points ago

Or we can just accept that bad things happen, and not further crowd our overcrowded prisons in addition to not infringing on my right to bear arms.

EDIT: I'm not saying armed robbers shouldn't be punished, but that offense carries a pretty stiff penalty as it is. I hate the constant push to be "tough on crime" for irrational reasons, simply for some easy political brownie points.

[–]dearastronomer 0 points1 point ago

I wouldn't say it's irrational. Personally, I'd rather see criminal usage of guns be punished heavily, than more legislation put in place that erodes the 2nd amendment.

[–]themanbat 0 points1 point ago

I'm afraid I'm against you on this one. We want someone who, for whatever reason, becomes desperate enough to use a gun in a crime to have a big incentive not to shoot all the witnesses.

[–]dearastronomer 0 points1 point ago

That's an interesting take on that.

[–]themanbat 0 points1 point ago

Yeah it's "fun" to think about. Attempted murder in most jurisdictions is punished just as severely as good old fashioned murder. This makes sense, because a murderer is a murderer. Why should you give the incompetent ones a break in court?

Now if the crime of armed robbery was punished just as harshly as murder, then you may as well shoot the people first and then rob their dead bodies afterwards. You'd make the same amount of money, dead men don't resit or testify, and you'd not be incurring any additional punishment if caught. As the law stands now, while some armed robbers are the murdery type, many are just using the gun to guarantee cooperation from their victims, and don't actually want to shoot anyone if they don't have to.

[–]dearastronomer 0 points1 point ago

So, how would you resolve the issue of reducing gun-related crimes whilst not using the 2nd amendment for toilet paper? Just curious.

[–]themanbat 0 points1 point ago

I'd allow and encourage responsible citizens to get permits to carry a concealed weapon in big cities. Most gun related crimes are committed with pistols in big cities where concealed carry is currently outlawed. DC for example is a leader in both murder and anti gun laws. Obviously outlawing pistols/concealing a gun on your person does not work, because if a criminal is already fine with breaking the laws on robbing or shooting someone, he isn't going to balk at a measly gun control law. "Gun control" laws just puts good law abiding citizens at the mercy of the criminals. Instead, if you make it widely known that any citizen might be armed at any given moment, criminals will be a lot less likely to pull a gun on someone, and more likely to rely on less confrontational forms of crime.

[–]WGMindless 4 points5 points ago

Am I the only person who is extremely annoyed by the ridiculous use of punctuation marks in the image?

[–]getchar 1 point2 points ago

You may be the only one who actually read the text. I knew the bit without even opening the picture.

[–]AdmiralCockGobbler 1 point2 points ago

Yeah no it drove me insane. I punched my wife and my song won't come out of his room now because he's scared of me.

[–]Terakian 0 points1 point ago

This is exactly how shaving razors make their money. Not a bad idea...

[–]shieeet 2 points3 points ago

Why not simply link to the goddamn fucking video?

[–]RumorsOFsurF 3 points4 points ago

Because Reddit likes poorly made, easily digestible image macros. Hence the +1500 karma.

[–]VanillaMIlkshakes 2 points3 points ago

cough realoading cough

[–]michaelamira 2 points3 points ago

And people won't know how to shoot because they can't afford to practice! oh the flaws ...

[–]KaleStrider 0 points1 point ago

The problem with this is that people can make their own bullets easier than their own guns. Whats more is that it is a lot more easily concealed of an operation.

[–]bluedanieru 3 points4 points ago

Thanks. This is just like actually watching Chris Rock perform that routine, except without the brilliant comedic timing. Or the comedy. Or the talent (save the talent required to paste in the text of course - nice work).

[–]e4excellence 0 points1 point ago

Bitches don't know how simple it is to reload your own cartridges.

[–]thekinghermit 2 points3 points ago

man reddit is really just full of teenagers. this is so old how is this front page of the internet?

[–]SoCo_cpp 1 point2 points ago

Being someone who has cast lead bullets and reloaded shells, this joke is lost to me.

[–]GraharG 1 point2 points ago

funny as a joke, but in reality you just start a black market in home made bullet distribution

[–]dangsos 0 points1 point ago

Then people would make their own ammo and a black market would stem just from ammunition sales and 100's of new gangs would pop-up out of necessity to protect the new black market. Prohibition 101.

[–]kapslocks 0 points1 point ago

[–]dangsos 0 points1 point ago

call the cops, we need to stop this at an early stage

[–]SoSimPo1 -4 points-3 points ago

This is a funny joke and all but its completly false. People would turn toward the underground market for bullets, just like they do with drugs, and there wouldnt be any change in the usage of bullets.

[–]Is_this_thing_on -2 points-1 points ago

Same thing with rape and murder. Might as well legalize that too. I mean really, if you outlaw rape and murder then only criminals will rape and murder.

[–]you_rock_rock 0 points1 point ago

Even the demographic that is reddit didn't need this explained. 0/10 I hope I killed your ego boner.

[–]SoSimPo1 1 point2 points ago

You only made it harder.

[–]COLLEGE-DROPOUT69 2 points3 points ago

I heard the reason Obama is raising taxes is so we dont have money to buy guns

[–]Trilluminati -1 points0 points ago

I was just watching this, get out of my head.

[–]Fcherrug 1 point2 points ago

And buy them with food stamps, they're pretty much the same as money right? (Shoot 'em up reference, not serious)

[–]dave_is_happy 0 points1 point ago

I believe you have my property.

[–]Bruccini 0 points1 point ago

just melt down some toy soldiers

[–]Stupidnuts 1 point2 points ago

You better hope I dont get no bullets on layaway!

[–]Frat_Panda 0 points1 point ago

"Gun Control."*

[–]motha-fuckin-repost 1 point2 points ago

Bitches be shoppin...

[–]segagaga 0 points1 point ago

"I'ma gonna get me another job, I'm gonna save me some money... and you're a dead man! You better hope I don't get any bullets on lay-away!"

[–]BremStar650 -1 points0 points ago

So true

[–]marmar0459 1 point2 points ago

Imma get me a second job, start saving some money and you a dead man. You better hope i cant get no bullets on layaway

[–]NotoriousSalsa 1 point2 points ago

this is useless. the poor would just start stabbing (my self included but i would carry a Katana around)

[–]AlexanderMoore2 1 point2 points ago

This would just transfer power over to the rich who don't give a fuck.

[–]koshercowboy -1 points0 points ago

Damn, he must've put like $35,000 worth of bullets in him.

[–]axxionx12 1 point2 points ago

Knives? Try CROSSBOW! Also, there are so many people with ammunition making kits that trying to control the ammunition supply is pointless. The punchline's still funny, but reality hurts.

[–]rcbrice 0 points1 point ago

Entire scene played out in my head in Chris Rock's voice, made it 10x funnier.

[–]Kar98_Byf42 1 point2 points ago

Old, un-funny and stupid. For $5,000, you can set yourself up to make about a 1,000 bullets an hour.

[–]DevinXYP 0 points1 point ago

If that's the case, I'm going to open a Ninja Academy.

[–]Mlozengess 0 points1 point ago

My favorite part about this post is that it is directly under a picture of someone trying to punch a T-Rex

[–]Mr_French 0 points1 point ago

If Chris was born for something, it would be stand-up.

[–]isleshocky 0 points1 point ago

I love this guy.

[–]ElVichoPerro 0 points1 point ago

I too, have seen that special.

[–]Siddlypi 0 points1 point ago

The show is the best single piece of sand up ever! If you call your grandma mommy & your mommy Pam, I know you gonna be robbing me in ten years.

[–]Nuclearguitar 0 points1 point ago

While yes this is a repost, it's the only god damn funny thing on reddit today! Up vote for you sir

[–]deathmint 0 points1 point ago

Bullets can be cast and cartridges loaded by hand. Many in the shooting community already do this, as the current price of ammo is already too high for some.

[–]Shutupcrime1337 1 point2 points ago

people will just start importing bullets and dealing them, making bullet dealers.

[–]daderpityderpdo 0 points1 point ago

Someone please explain to me why someone would waste the time of creating every frame of a video with typed subtitles instead of linking to a video...?

[–]varybaked 0 points1 point ago

maybe for people redditing in class?

[–]TimesWasting 0 points1 point ago

Does anyone remember what comedian made a similar joke but about gas prices?

It was like "Hey lets go do a driveby on those motherfuckers" "Hell no man, gas is too expensive, lets take our bikes"

[–]nowbrdingforanywhere[S] 0 points1 point ago

Mind you this was only posted to be humorous!

[–]xuanzue 0 points1 point ago

guns don't kill people,

bullets kill people

[–]nowbrdingforanywhere[S] 1 point2 points ago

[–]Volun 1 point2 points ago

Sorry to ruin the fun here, but that's not how economics work.

[–]continually_hopped 0 points1 point ago

"You'd better hope I can't get no bullets on layaway!"

[–]Andymac175 0 points1 point ago

Make bullets $5000? if that were even possible, fuck yea bring it on! i'd then know a whole bunch of millionaires..

[–]captdimitri 0 points1 point ago

I once heard Ken Keasey seriously suggest bullet control on the radio when making comments about a school shooting the day it happened.

/facepalm

[–]Denvermax432 0 points1 point ago

I believe your have my property!

[–]chuck560 1 point2 points ago

I'm not sure if I should be more worried about the people arguing against a joke made by a stand up comedian with a penchant for the outrageous or the ones actually saying this is a good idea.

[–]8deep 0 points1 point ago

You missed the best line in this whole joke. FAIL.

[–]peacebob -1 points0 points ago

At this point just link the video instead please

[–]adius -1 points0 points ago

i can only write English, not read it, i sure hope nobody has mentioned the idea of making your own bullets yet because i think that would be the smart thing to do in this situation!

...oh but i can read english if it's superimposed over a picture of a comedian. just to be clear.
