A cool continuation of this story on the official Tumblr for Barack Obama: http://barackobama.tumblr.com/post/35505194531/six-months-ago-taylor-morris-was-serving-our#post-notes

[–]MrWally 0 points1 point ago

Any one have the link to the video of them dancing?

[–]Lore86 672 points673 points ago

It's a super repost, but it's always beautiful!

[–]Atzend 127 points128 points ago

It's a fitting repost. It is Veteran's Day afterall.

[–]TThor 17 points18 points ago

good point... I remove my downvote!

[–]johndeer89 42 points43 points ago

Ridiculously photogenic amputee.

[–]I_HAVE_FEET 112 points113 points ago

Seriously. But old.

[–]SirSandGoblin 14 points15 points ago

hooray i'm part of history!

[–]mollshenanigans 53 points54 points ago

Who cares if it's a repost? I've never seen this before, and if I see it again I'll still like it.

[–]Jmsnwbrd 14 points15 points ago

I agree completely. Not only is it Veterans Day, but a reminder of the price men and women in the military sometimes pay should be frequent.

[–]lilylly 8 points9 points ago

That argument applies to all the goddamn snark on reddit about reposts. Seen it? Keep scrolling. I haven't. And its awesome.

[–]Stratocaster89 16 points17 points ago

Hits dem feels hard each time

[–]cgdiaz 4 points5 points ago

I'm more upset they stitched the pictures together into one giant monster instead of an imgur album like the first time I saw it.

[–]peony33 5 points6 points ago

No matter how many times this gets reposted, it never bothers me and I always upvote it.

[–]GenkiElite 4 points5 points ago

I'll up vote it every time.

[–]WearsCollaredShirts 17 points18 points ago

No gonna lie, his robotic new parts look pretty badass

[–]guustavooo 156 points157 points ago

Starring: Ryan Gosling

[–]pwnjab 99 points100 points ago

Seriously, I'm a straight guy, with a giant boner for this dude.

[–]HMS_Booty 85 points86 points ago

The man is attractive as fuck.

[–]RyenDeckard 8 points9 points ago

It's shitty to know that even without any extremities he's still significantly more attractive than I'll ever be, god damn.

[–]AndieBro 25 points26 points ago

If there's ever a movie, he needs to play this dude.

[–]cherryfizz 11 points12 points ago

I'd watch the hell out of that. Hollywood, are you listening?

[–]SupraPseudo 154 points155 points ago

what a woman

[–]lostsoulasylum 117 points118 points ago

I love my wife, but I wouldn't blame her for leaving. This woman not only stuck by him, but she married him after the fact. She wins at life

[–]Troy19 15 points16 points ago

Extremely lucky dude to have found someone like her. The type of women most men dream of finding.

[–]The_Homestarmy 27 points28 points ago

I accidentally read that as "what is a woman" spoken in a caveman dialect.

WHAT A WOMAN? HOW IS BABBY BORN?

[–]WEDub 3 points4 points ago

How is babby formed

FTFY. Also link for the lazy

[–]Cueball61 99 points100 points ago

You don't start to truly appreciate science until you think about it.

We can give a man all four of his limbs back guys. Science is awesome.

[–]quitelikeme 59 points60 points ago

We also first did "the" science to invent stuff that took them in the first place.

Both points are valid, I just want to emphasize science isn't good or bad, it just is.

[–]Cueball61 22 points23 points ago

Granted I'd say the science that replaced the limbs is far more incredible than the science that took them.

[–]Monkey_Junk 14 points15 points ago

I think they're equally incredible. The fact that we have tools that can do so much destruction, yet many can be so incredibly small, is amazing (regardless of morals).

[–]kamakazekiwi 25 points26 points ago

Let's be honest though, inventing a chemical reaction exothermic enough to tear up human flesh is pretty damn easy. Designing synthetic limbs that can react to impulses from a brain that we know hardly anything about, is something pretty damn incredible.

[–]tattybojan9les 4 points5 points ago

Its great that the saying 'We can rebuild him. We have the technology' was science fiction 30 years ago but now we can tailor fit body parts for people, and even make them move.

[–]FutureNoir 4 points5 points ago

I wouldn't necessarily classify them as proper limbs, but yes. Science is fucking sweet.

In about 20 years we'll be able to create artificial limbs with better flexibility, strength, and speed as our own. People will want to cut off their arms and legs!

[–]capt_ishmael 37 points38 points ago

"Where are the legs with which you run when first you went to carry a gun, indeed your dancing days are done, johnny I hardly knew ye."

[–]number7 9 points10 points ago

"My son John was tall and slim

He had a leg for every limb

But now he's got no legs at all

For he run a race with a cannonball

With me roo rum rar, faddle diddle dar

Whack faddlle liddle with me roo rum rar."

[–]I_CAPE_RUNTS 2 points3 points ago

"Jimmy cracked corn, and I don't care."

[–]jamaicanmefap 10 points11 points ago

We can rebuild him...

[–]theENTofDAZE 10 points11 points ago

..we have the technology

[–]gratefuldeadhead 196 points197 points ago

It is a little disheartening to see people attacking OP for using this repost for karma. It's an extremely relevant post for the day regardless of how old it may be. Considering this is Verteran's Day weekend and some folks are overlooking the enormous sacrifice this young man made for his country and so we could all continue to sit on our asses and surf Reddit.

[–]dotlizard 57 points58 points ago

I spend a considerable amount of time on the internet and this is my first time seeing this particular set of pics. Sometimes ya just miss things, you know? So I for one am glad it got reposted this time!

Next time, though, I'll be pissed.

[–]llcbdavis 8 points9 points ago

seriously, what did it hurt? whose time did it steal? i'm all against war but i thought it was cool. those two people are braver than i will ever be.

[–]ChizCor 25 points26 points ago

Two words.

Darth Vader.

[–]I_Burn_Cereal 2 points3 points ago

"He's more machine now than man." But really, awesome story. and Fuck war

[–]Leejin 61 points62 points ago

Breaks my heart.. fuck war.

[–]regretdeletingthat 25 points26 points ago

Seriously. That some of this species have their lives irreparably damaged because others can't settle their differences without fucking killing each other is one of the saddest things on this planet.

[–]Unwoollymammoth 9 points10 points ago

Someone should do something about this horrendous sadness. We... we should get rid of the people responsible for it!

[–]Chielts 3 points4 points ago

yeah... Jeasousy, religion, "i want what he has!"... all reasons for war and killing.

saddest thing for sure...

[–]frostdallas 48 points49 points ago

I know this is a re-post, but I have to be the one to say: there's a good chance that she was able to stay with him through all of it because he kept his good looks.

This couple divorced less than a year later, citing "irreconcilable differences". I'm extremely happy that the couple in the 22 pictures stayed together (that we're aware of) through the tragedy, and that speaks to her character, but the realist in me thinks that if his face was left on a road in Iraq, she wouldn't be so gung-ho about being by his side 24/7 with such loving enthusiasm.

That being said, touching pictures.

EDIT: spelling

[–]shadybrainfarm 20 points21 points ago

This fucking picture makes me cry every damn time. They both just looks so sad, contemplating their future and how it is going so differently than they had planned. However, I feel that many people would not leave their spouse just because their face was disfigured. These two are very young, and the medical problems were more likely the final nail in the coffin than an explanation. Many young military couples don't work out for very long, it's kind of the nature of the beast. There are many MANY heartwarming stories of people who have stuck by each other through tragedy. It seems like a lot of those success stories the people have been together longer/are older.

I know that for me, if something like the above were to happen to my husband, it would make me stay with him even more, if anything. I already feel that we need each other's support, I would never abandon him in the time of greatest weakness. But that's me now. Me at age 19 or 20? I don't know if I could have made that sacrifice.

[–]frostdallas 2 points3 points ago

I re-read the Snopes article on the Marine that I linked to, and there was a testimony from friends/family after the divorce that said almost verbatim what you mentioned. You bring up a good point, that time and dedication would give more strength to the union and help them through the tragedy. It'd be interesting to see what a couple that had been married 20+ years would do to handle a similar tragedy.

[–]velavi 13 points14 points ago

John McCain was married to his first wife for 15 years, but he left her for a woman 17 years his junior after a car accident left his wife in a wheelchair. I don't really think it's the length of a relationship that makes a stronger bond in the face of crisis, I think it's one's character.

[–]DancesWithDaleks 16 points17 points ago

You can't know that for sure, and I would actually say it would be much more difficult to stay with Taylor Morris than this gentleman, because Taylor Morris (the man in OP's photo set) is going to require a lot more assistance every single day. From the videos on his blog he appears to have a lot of his independence back, but I think the image above where his wife is carrying him up the stairs says enough about her commitment to him. The gentleman in the picture you linked to, as deformed (hope that's not the wrong word) as he is, can still do everything for himself. It would be a lot more hands-on and physically demanding to be with Taylor Morris, which I think (for me at least) would be a lot more exhausting every day than needing to get past a facial deformity.

I'm not saying that you're wrong-- maybe you're right and she wouldn't have stuck around if he weren't handsome. But I hate that people point to that couple as evidence that if Taylor Morris' face had been damaged his wife definitely would not have stuck around. There is no way to know that, but she's already demonstrated unwavering commitment to Taylor and no one can say for sure what would happen in another circumstance. What happened with the other woman doesn't necessarily mean it would happen here.

[–]frostdallas 10 points11 points ago

True that. I agree with what you're saying, it's impossible to know for sure what would happen in other situations, there are far too many variables. Let's agree, for now, that the woman in OPs 22-picture set is a wonderful wife, and that we're glad that things are working out. After all, that's the point of this post.

[–]DancesWithDaleks 5 points6 points ago

Cheers to that.

[–]green_clock 29 points30 points ago

I don't think you can characterize all war wounded brides by this one sad story of the Falklands guy, in the same way that you cant say that all girls will stick it out based upon the OP story.

[–]Kanye_Westicles 14 points15 points ago

that isn't the falklands guy, he's a US marine.

[–]frostdallas 10 points11 points ago

I completely agree with you, I was just noticing the amount of wide-eyed smiles in the photos and began thinking if that would change if the good looks were taken out of the equation. I don't think that every single woman would react the same way that the bride did in the Marine story/OPs story), but the point I'm making is that I think the vast majority of people wouldn't be smiling so much in that situation if their lover's face was damaged.

[–]moonblade89 12 points13 points ago

I must agree, and I'd like to add a thought: A person missing their limbs is still easy to identify with as a person. They are missing parts, yes, but they aren't particularly unique parts. Now a face, a face is unique to a person (in most cases), and I think once a person loses their face, they're a lot harder to see as a person anymore. They become somewhat less human in our eyes because we cant relate to them the way we once could.

As shallow as it sounds, I don't know if I'd be able to stick out a relationship like that. Its very difficult on both parties, I imagine, and I'm just grateful that I don't have to make that decision.

[–]jaycatsby 12 points13 points ago

I agree with you. Even with prosthetic limbs and a stupid beard, Taylor Morris is still sexy as fuck. Yes, being his partner would require a crazy amount of effort (as shown in the physio pictures and where she carried him up the stairs) but I don't think it would have been as difficult emotionally as it was for this couple.

I think that what would make the burns/facial scarring/etc thing harder would be the impact it has on the injured party. If I lost all my hair and my face changed so drastically, I sure as hell would not be the same person I am now. I'd be depressed, bitter, withdrawn... Imagine leaving the house. People would stare and children would ask what was wrong with you. Imagine dealing with that every day! I really feel for this man, and I'm sorry that his marriage did not work out, but I don't think that it's realistic to expect a couple to go through such a dramatic change and still be happy together. I can see how the 'irreconcilable differences' could have arisen.

Fuck, I really hate war.

[–]melanoma 7 points8 points ago

stupid beard

TAKE IT BACK

[–]warpfield 1 point2 points ago

Ouch. What did that guy look like before?

[–]frostdallas 6 points7 points ago

[–]Ragss 8 points9 points ago

Always appreciate some reality in these threads where all anyone can talk about is crying. I absolutely agree with you.

[–]zuptrack 4 points5 points ago

Fuck eveything about war.

[–]Oniwabanshu 6 points7 points ago

Fuck war.

[–]peachesandmolybdenum 35 points36 points ago

I don't care a bit that this is a repost. I think it's lovely and I cry every time.

[–]pnutbuttry 13 points14 points ago

I've actually never seen this. What a crazy fucking story. Jesus.

[–]BeefyMcPissflaps 3 points4 points ago

Repost or not. These are the people that protect our freedom and his wife is also a hero in my mind.

Bravo.

[–]therager74jk 2 points3 points ago

Not upvoting because this is a repost. Not downvoting because this is a nice story.

[–]fly_on_the_wall 17 points18 points ago

I don't care if it was a repost. I didn't see it the first time and it's incredibly sweet. Made me welly.

[–]NavyDavie 12 points13 points ago

Now you'll recognize it when you see it next week too.

[–]rhombus2210 2 points3 points ago

That is one handsome motherfucker

[–]llcbdavis 0 points1 point ago

i imagine getting over his injuries took more courage than getting them.

[–]Zammin 0 points1 point ago

On the upside, her husband's a cyborg. On the downside... nah, there's not really a downside. Cyborg spouse is always a win.

[–]bluequail 0 points1 point ago

I've seen this before, but it is still profound. She is the most awesome wife in the world, and I can only hope my sons eventually meet someone as incredible as she is.

[–]ChevalierKarma 2 points3 points ago

I went from bored "this is so cheesy ..." to very sad to finally very happy. I liked it :)

[–]Aon_ 0 points1 point ago

If anyone wants to know more about this story, read TheChive article which is the source of inspiration for the donations he received, telling how much they got and how they spent it.

Short story is that he's a bomb disposal guy that got blown up. Story goes viral, people donate enough to enable them to buy a pretty nice house. Good stuff.

But the OP kind of sucks for posting to imgur without giving any information about the story, not linking to past topics to give more info (like how a redditor on a previous topic knew the guy second-hand and confirmed he was a classy guy), and generally being a karma whore. Shame on you, OP. This story deserves to have TheChive applauded for their aid, and the couple applauded for what they went through.

[–]kilar277 0 points1 point ago

About 10 minutes after seeing this, my friend reblogged this on Tumblr from President Obama. http://barackobama.tumblr.com/post/35505194531/six-months-ago-taylor-morris-was-serving-our

[–]chrisgrizle 1 point2 points ago

Still has a dick

[–]Hypersapien 2 points3 points ago

Reminds me of this

[–]kurin 9 points10 points ago

I always get kick-ass montage music in my head when I get to the first bionic pic.

War!! What is it good for?!

[–]DazzlerPlus 4 points5 points ago

Moral of the story: don't become a soldier

[–]roflmort 2 points3 points ago

Who cares if it's a repost, not everyone has seen it. Me, for example, and regardless, it's fucking beautiful.

[–]guineasomelove 0 points1 point ago

Well, I've never seen it and I thought it was very sweet.

[–]deftoneslover 2 points3 points ago

RIGHT IN THE FEEELS!!!

[–]KDIZZLL2 2 points3 points ago

The fight for freedom is in America in case you haven't noticed, security under the constitution means freedom from your Government. they're not fighting for freedom in Afghanistan, they're just stealing resources for globalists over there. no one should join the Military..no one.

[–]BlackLabelSupreme 3 points4 points ago

This is Reddit's version of "like dis if u cry evertim."

[–]305error 0 points1 point ago

This guy has to be either delta or team six, only ones allowed to rock beards, right?

[–]drbaconboy 2 points3 points ago

No. CTTs,PJs,Rangers,SF,MARSOC,EOD and reugular SEALs can all rock beards. It mostly depends what you're doing.

[–]Szmanda44 -2 points-1 points ago

Beautiful. It shows true love conquers all.

[–]AreWeNotMenOfScience -1 points0 points ago

Damn, the feels...

[–]youtookmyseat 0 points1 point ago

She's the real trooper.

[–]kanyeezy24 0 points1 point ago

[–]darkxeno13 -1 points0 points ago

Wow. Impressed with how the woman stepped up. I don't think most people could handle that. G.G.

[–]govatent -1 points0 points ago

Someone care to tell me why the weibo logo is at the bottom of this?

[–]PolishMattski -1 points0 points ago

Thats fuckin' awwwwsome.

[–]santacruz83 0 points1 point ago

War is hell.

[–]PFCDoofles -1 points0 points ago

I've seen this before and I can't stop thinking about how bad ass this guy will be when they give him prosthesis in ten years.

Seriously, this guy (Taylor Morris) sounds like the perfect candidate for the kind of futuristic prosthetic limbs we can expect in the next 10-20 years.

[–]dpmad 0 points1 point ago

True love is really fucking cool and war is the exact opposite.

[–]KyMurrr 0 points1 point ago

I remember seeing this on iwastesomuchtime.com a couple months back.

[–]LunarEclipsesRainbow 0 points1 point ago

That horrible movie series which even the name being mentioned burns my brain from stupid has nothing on this love story.

[–]GlobindobinButler 0 points1 point ago

That guy is hot! With or without limbs.

[–]jumpinjetjnet -1 points0 points ago

This is the first time I've seen it. Wonderful. Wow.

[–]kittypoocaca -1 points0 points ago

love!

[–]JaqueStrapp -1 points0 points ago

He should keep the beard and long hair. He looks like a boss with all those artificial limbs.

[–]MySanchezisDirty -1 points0 points ago

The picture of her carrying him up the stairs tears me up every time.

[–]WizardlySquid 1 point2 points ago

I never asked for this.

[–]HeywoodJablowme -1 points0 points ago

Awesome.

[–]coastalbrad 0 points1 point ago

That's bad luck to end up that way from the Navy...

[–]alexdelicious -1 points0 points ago

Gotta say, that was pretty nicely done.

[–]CarcajadaArtificial -1 points0 points ago

[–]nooneshero51 -1 points0 points ago

It's because of Vets like this man and the support of his wife that allow Americans to have their freedom. God bless the service members and God bless America.

[–]firethread -1 points0 points ago

true love is so rare when you find it don't let go. so wonderful and yes i know how i know corny i sound, but love is awesome and good and pure.

[–]tahitiisnotineurope -1 points0 points ago

CYBORG!

[–]rockahullyted -1 points0 points ago

Am I right in saying he's high tier special forces because he was allowed a beard and long hair in the field?

[–]MAJORpaiynne -1 points0 points ago

The guy is EOD, he gets rid of bombs, thats how he lost his limbs

[–]a_random_hobo -1 points0 points ago

Moral: Anything is possible when you are good-looking.

[–]Serrated_Banana -1 points0 points ago

It's beautiful and what not, but he is from and lives in my town. I hear about him every. single. day. Either from people crying that he's amazing or people that say he was a dick before getting injured.

[–]dweezil2k -1 points0 points ago

amazing courage and love.

[–]FilthFlarnFilth -1 points0 points ago

I thought that was super-touching.

[–]CuriousGM 1 point2 points ago

Why does the picture quality on this set get worse every time I see it? Are you photocopying the reposts? I don't understand

[–]SniperGX1 -1 points0 points ago

Dashing fucking cyborg!

[–]Cancerslug -1 points0 points ago

Despite losing his limbs, he's still a lucky man. To find a woman who loves him that much and is that strong, is rare indeed. Without her, I'm sure his recovery and outlook on life would have been profoundly different.

[–]annenoise -1 points0 points ago

Wow, is he ever gorgeous.

[–]cattskiba 0 points1 point ago

Talk about tuggin' on the heart strings. Damn..

[–]osaucyone 0 points1 point ago

Well I haven't seen it as one long picture yet so that's...that's a plus I guess.

I can only assume the rest of the photos are lovely because I got to the photo of her piggybacking him up the stairs and lost it. I needed a good cry and now I need to find a soldier to hug.

"But as Taylor lay there, fully conscious, bleeding to death, he cautioned the medics to wait before rushing his way. He feared another IED was nearby. Taylor’s concern wasn’t for his own life; it was for theirs."

Last photo instantly made me think of Cialis. Nice story though.

Faith restored. There is hope for humanity.

that's really sweet but i bet he'd be happier if he didn't have his arms and legs blown off

[–]flammos 1 point2 points ago

This is touching, thanks for sharing!

Thank you for fighting for our country. It's people like you who make me feel proud to be an American.

Fuck war.

I feel like most redditors now take a screen shot of the front page, wait 2 months, then whore the posts for karma.

[–]neonshoelaces 0 points1 point ago

This is one of the few reposts that always make me smile like it's the first time around.

WHO'S CUTTING ALL THE FUCKING ONIONS, CUT IT OUT

Last picture should have Corona bottles.

If you read it backward it's the story of how a woman turned a robot into a real man

[–]ssilver77 0 points1 point ago

I actually teared up a little but...

[–]Icebear8 0 points1 point ago

i am wondering who pays for all his medical bills and for the new limbs they put on? does the government pay for it or does his wife have to pay for all of this?

i all ways wonder how this works out for our troops because this would seem like a lot of money to pay back.

While this is very beautiful I can't feel sorry for him. Noone forced him to go to war.

[–]justicemeow 0 points1 point ago

True love is hardcore.

[–]Quinlan1985 0 points1 point ago

This made me tear up.

[–]christopherbifflloyd 0 points1 point ago

He is from the Cedar Falls area of Iowa, and I see or hear about him everyday, so when I'm wasting time on reddit it's odd how often he pops up.

[–]bunhead 1 point2 points ago

There needs to be a Nicholas Sparks-esque movie about this...I tear up just looking at the pictures!

[–]esoteric311 0 points1 point ago

People like this make me feel horrible inadequate. Had this happened tome I would have just given up. Amazing that someone can be this strong.

Being a sailor myself, I am so proud of this man and his family. I am never one to complain about reposts but this has been posted 4 times in less than two months. At this point I feel like people are just trying to cash in on his tale for just karma and not to actually share his feat.

[–]ktphoenix -1 points0 points ago

Zero fucks given that this is reposted. It's worth the upvote every fucking time.

Better love story than Twilight

Amazingness! End of.
