Everything is better underwater.

...Except breathing I guess.

...and guns. Its amazing how all the force of a bullet is stopped dead by a foot of water.

I would love to be able to breathe underwater.

This is when my lucid dreams start. Every time.

Its amazing that it only goes like 8 feet. Damn water you freaky

[–]DarvelMk 1 point2 points ago

Actually it's less than 2 feet... A .50 cal only went in 14 inches before losing its momentum.

[–]ZondaRFanForLife 1 point2 points ago

But the larger surface area of the 50 cal discounts the larger speed and momentum as the bullet enters the water. As well to note, the 50 cal is fired from above water. I'm sure it would behave differently if fired underwater.

Exactly, this bullet has to travel through the water from the start (there is probably water in the barrel) which would prevent it from reaching its top speed at all.

The gun looks like a Glock 17, which is about 20cm long, the muzzle bloom looks about the same length and the bullet travels twice that distance before loosing forward momentum, so about 60cm or around 2ft - more than the .50 cal, but not 8ft.

Also, the bullet seems to be completely flattened! Never underestimate the sheer power of being underwater.

I read this as Glock underwear.

Am I the only one trying to imagine what that would sound like?

[–]smokeytrees420 2 points3 points ago

not at all my friend, I watched it for a good 30 seconds making the sound in my head, then again i am stoned

could watch for days

Very cool, I would love to see this slowed down even more.

I thought this read glock underwear... pleasantly mistaken.

[–]ProfessorFang 1 point2 points ago

I'm no physicist but... that seems dangerous

[–]DreadPiratesRobert 4 points5 points ago

The water stops it really fast. Mythbusters tested it and even a 50cal only goes about a foot into the water before stopping.

[–]ProfessorFang 1 point2 points ago

I don't really mean because of the bullet, I mean more that... the bullet is only supposed to be fighting about 1 atmosphere's worth of pressure to get out of the barrel of the gun, plus the simulated pressure from the friction of the bullet on the casing. Firing the gun underwater adds a lot of pressure against the bullet in this system.

[–]DreadPiratesRobert 1 point2 points ago

Oh ok, dangerous to the gun more so than a person

[–]ProfessorFang 1 point2 points ago

Sure, but you also don't want to be holding an exploding gun.

[–]WestWays818 0 points1 point ago

It is, if all you care about is ruining the gun.

[–]Flashbang1985 1 point2 points ago

Trust me, that's not hurting a glock. They are built to be abused.
