This is one thing I'm confused about. MMJ is legal in D.C., so doesn't that mean congress had to pass the medical legislation for the district? So Congress can pass MMJ for D.C. but won't even speak of it at the national level? Hoping someone can answer this.

The easiest answer is that the other states didn't get enough signatures on the petitions.

When you are going to the supermarket and some guy with a clipboard tries to talk to you and you ignore him you could have just passed up an opportunity to sign one of those marijuana petitions. Don't be lazy, just hear these people out for a few seconds and then if you don't like what they have to say then feel free to blow them off and go about your day.

I'd like to see a sign up to work these petitions on reddit

Seeing as we can't even get being tolerant of gays down, I dont see this as a surprise. Get out and vote people!

Fact: pot was 8-12% more popular in rural WA than gay marriage.

I wanted both to pass but I was totally convinced people were more for gay marriage than pot... :( Oh well, King country carries the day, again!

Something that occured to this Brit : You guys need like 48 more votes to get it legal in every state for recreation, plus a federal law change. We only need one vote.

That's the deal when you go all federal man.

My best answer as a WA native: end the silence and open conversation.. that means friends, coworkers, parents, family members, etc. It also helps if youre mature about it and not stoned 24/7. This is how you start changing minds. Oh yea, and debt helps
