Maybe this is just me, but I don't understand why tons people like this video, find it's funny, or how this video got as popular as it did. I mean its kindof funny, maybe I just don't like the recent overuse of the song. Like a few days ago I was browsing Reddit and I was like there's something that's just nagging me in the back of my mind but what is it? OH YAH, it's me trying to understand why and how this video is so popular. I remember even FreddieW said it was one of his favorite all time youtube videos. I can understand it's universal appeal in that same sense charlie bit my finger or evolution of dance is appleaing. All humans like music or cats or cute naive kids. So I guess the juxtaposiotion of a cat, (which we think are pretty dexterious animals), missing a jump is funny because the outcome differs from our expectatons, combined with the comical spread eagle position of the cat in the air. The jump also times with a pleasing drop to good song which itself carries the meaning of the word 'sail' which can be applied in this situation to the cat's movement. Another layer of humor resides in the difference between the tone created by the song and the humorous situation of the cat jumping. Like the singer is describing something beautiful and meaningful but it is being applied to a cat jumping out a window. I still don't know though, maybe I don't find it as funny because I'm cynical and I just see it for being a boring repetitious template of new age memetic humor, in the same sense that advice animals and rage comic used to be hilarious, but now their rampant overuse and average drop in value have certainly tained the approachability and acceptability of their humor in general to an new unrecoverable state of lowest common denominator humor.

It's because part of the cat's relatively low terminal velocity is its ability to fall in such a way that increases drag. Problem is that the cat needs a few seconds to get itself falling in such a way to maximise drag, but before floor 7ish it doesn't quite get the time.

I'm interning with my local police station. One day we came up on two people who got into a fender bender. The young lady who hit the older lady from behind wasn't wearing a seat belt and her head smashed into the window causing it to smash outward in like a little bubble imprint of her skull. She was probably 100% fine, the officer cleared her as being able to drive from the scene. Those windows are made to adsorb some of the impact so peoples heads don't splatter when they hit them.

It's also really depending on the angle.. saying the "glass is broken" isn't enough to tell if this cat had some injuries. From the seconds that follow he doesnt seem so hurt for "a multiple bones fractured cat".

True, the cat probably absorbed some of the impact with muscles. Then the glass cracking will have absorbed some of the energy too - like a helmet, the helmet breaks to absorb enough energy that your head doesn't. Same could well apply here.

The cat also seems to move off fine with no horrible twitches that would indicate brain damage or limping to indicate a broken leg so I'd say bruising at worst.

Joking around my buddy hit his brakes making fun of another driver. I knew he was doing it and I threw myself forward against the dash and windshield. I really didn't hit it that hard and cracked the whole damn windshield. We just pulled over and stared at each other. No blood, bruise...swelling nothing..didn't hurt. It's possible that cat was just fine.
