A healthy woman has one period on average every 4-6 weeks from the ages of 13-45 years old. That's roughly 332 periods a lifetime on average, and let's round down to 314 periods a lifetime if this average woman has 2 children. If she has to replace her pad about every 6 hours for 4-7 days she uses an average of 20 pads per period. Using these numbers the average woman (using just pads on her period) would use 6,280 sanitary pads in a lifetime. Sanitary pads that are commercially made with plastic that gets thrown into a landfill. Instead of having to buy 6,280 pads made of plastic over a lifetime wouldn't it be neat if 50% of the world's population could instead use something simple, washable, and made of cloth to collect their uterine lining? And what if you could make this simple solution with most kinds of absorbable cloth that could have all kinds of patterns printed on them? Wouldn't it be nice to have something silly like a vampire printed fabric so when you are in the fetal position in bed because it feels like someone is raking your uterus with barbed wire you could laugh to yourself and think "My vagina is bleeding on a vampire's face right now"??

Yes.

Uh and what do you think all the women who don't live in first world countries do? Walk to their local 7-11 to go buy tampons and pads with the 50 cents they made that day? Yeah most women world wide use something much more gross and unsanitary than the pad in this picture- rags, scraps of cloth, wool, etc that they get to wash in dirty water and reuse. Please step out of your bubble and think of the rest of the world.

Novelty item, works as a present.

Just threatened to buy a case for my 16 year old daughter for x-mas.

The fabric choice or the reusable pad?

[–]Y_Z 4 points5 points ago

Well, clearly it's because when women see a dude with a six pack we can't help but think, "I want to menstruate all over his face".

I don't know. But it's pretty expensive.

[–]MarvinTheAndroid42 0 points1 point ago

Well you see it... no. No I have no explanation.

[–]sparklycandyunicorn 1 point2 points ago

Reusable for the environmentally conscious women, and cheaper in the long run.

[–]wikked_1 0 points1 point ago

Because everything is a thing. Thus this item could not not exist.

[–]Agent17 0 points1 point ago

I think the better question is, Who would buy this?

[–]eljefffe 0 points1 point ago

More realistically, why wouldn't it be a thing?

[–]DeamonKnight 0 points1 point ago

wouldn't it be a hoot if robert pattisons image was used? and he got all sparkly after the pad was soaked>?

[–]will_holmes 0 points1 point ago

Satire, that's why.

[–]madmonkeymud 0 points1 point ago
