Didn't have it for 9 days. All the days just merged together. Eat, sleep, eat, sleep, see if cell phone was working, got disappointed, ate some more and went to sleep. Put on a good 10 pounds.

I know this feeling.

Sleep, work, eat, go to gym for warmth and WiFi. Most working out I've done since summer

How do you go on Reddit?

[–]I_Are_Brown_Bear[S] 1 point2 points ago

I posted from work today. First time I saw the Internet since Sandy.

[–]StickSauce 2 points3 points ago

What does the internet look like?

[–]I_Are_Brown_Bear[S] 2 points3 points ago

It's the most beautifully horrible thing you could ever imagine...

Never look directly at it.

I only lost power for 4 days in Jersey City. Hang in there, bro.

How did you flush your toilet?

[–]IDGAF1203 3 points4 points ago

We filled our bathtubs before the power went out, so we could take buckets and put water in the tank manually once the pump died.

Man that's crazy!

[–]I_Are_Brown_Bear[S] 0 points1 point ago

We weren't nearly that smart. We had buckets prepared full of water and have been filling water jugs at my Mom's work every couple days.

Showers consisted of boiled water, a bucket, and shrinkage...

I know that feel: Ice storm of '99 in Montreal (2 weeks)

the worst part of a catastrophe is being cut of from the internet/reddit i feel you bro/first world problem

It's called a cell phone. Oddly, you can get solar chargers, and even hand-powered chargers.

There's something really weird about being in the middle of a flattened city with a couple of hundred killed and most of the city without power water or electricity - and still being able to follow the news in real time via the internet.

I love living in the future.

From Louisiana here--I feel for you. Been there a number of times. It's not fun.

How are you on Reddit without power?

[–]justadude23 -1 points0 points ago

Earthquake in Christchurch - three weeks before the power was back on (and that was the happiest night of that year), the water was just a week or two, but needed to be boiled before drinking for what seemed like forever. Oh, and the chemical toilet was used for months because we didn't actually have a sewage system in a five mile radius of my house.

I hope one day that the floors will be level again. (Early next year, probably.)

This was all mildly irritating.

Dude, you're in New York, not Haiti. Do you have any idea how good you actually have it?

Sounds like you should actually use the first-world-problem meme picture.

Feel for you. 5 days without power during ice storm a few years ago in Kentucky. House temp went down day by day til it go to the 30's and then we went to a hotel (had to drive 40 miles to find one with a vacancy) for the last day. Had to take cockatiels to work and leave them there cause it had heat. Washed up in either cold water or at work. Some areas had no electricity for much longer as they were in the outer areas. And some folks came home to find their house had burned down because the restoration of power started a fire. I hope power is restored soon!

I feel you bro What I'd do for a generator

[–]theneedtobreed 1 point2 points ago

Posting on reddit through rain or sleet or snow or hurricane.

As someone who lived in Russia, I'm used to weekly "turn off power to the 10 blocks to conserve energy" and "no hot water for a month because pipes are being repaired" every June-July. It was inconvenient, but we dealt with it.

If you complain about lack of internet, spoiled 1st world problems.
