I've seen enough zombie movies to know that man is about to rip in half.

[–]eetsumkaus 924 points925 points ago

and about to dump somewhere around a barrel's worth of blood

[–]Lettuce_Get_Weird 557 points558 points ago

That fat man must have eaten a desk of cheese itz.

[–]WafflesInTheBasement 644 points645 points ago

Who are you getting these units of measurement from!?

[–]BigBadMrBitches 324 points325 points ago

Mary.

[–]RadiusOfTheFun 172 points173 points ago

Okay funny girl, you stay right here I'll be back with...a drum of cake? Like the kind they carry oil in?

[–]friday6700 125 points126 points ago

It's a hammock of cake. I shouldn't know that.

[–]LeCrushinator 11 points12 points ago

You need a pallet of chocolate-covered pretzels?

[–]Eriden 28 points29 points ago

My favorite unit of measurement is the inverse femtobarn.

[–]Alacritous 151 points152 points ago

I like the milliHelen. The power of beauty sufficient enough to launch 1 ship.

You'd be surprised how much blood it looks like you have lost, when you only lose a bit.

[–]ButWhoWasBlank 129 points130 points ago

Significantly less disgusting than I thought it would be.

[–]omrsafetyo 25 points26 points ago

Thank you for helping me through that click; would have skipped the link if not for your supportive words.

Either that or like 6 more zombies are gonna show up and pull his guts out while he's still alive to make us all go, "aw, fuck! Fuck me! Aw! Goddamit! No! Aw, fuck, no!"

[–]lilTyrion 102 points103 points ago

Not got the guts for that, I guess.

Well, at least they got him out of his trousers

[–]holz55 63 points64 points ago

My thoughts exactly.

*Edit: I just finished watching The Walking Dead season 2 yesterday, so torsos getting ripped in half are on the mind.

[–]RAHDXB 94 points95 points ago

Ok, I hope I'm not gonna get downvoted to death for this, but I'm genuinely confused. Why is 'My thoughts exactly" being upvoted, while I see "This" or "came here to say this" being downvoted into oblivion all the time? I'm really not trying to dis this comment, just trying to understand

edit: obviously I commented this before I saw holz55's edit. My question still stands :-)

[–]cckynv 81 points82 points ago

Do not question the whims of the Downvote Brigade™

[–]holz55 29 points30 points ago

My thoughts exactly.

No, seriously, that's why I added the edit.

[–]Spoony_Slice 1586 points1587 points ago

My thought were as follows: "Well, firstly they should take his belt off" .... "Ohhh"

[–]Hr0n 777 points778 points ago

Shit, man, I had no idea what was going on until I read your comment hinting that maybe they weren't doing precisely what the title described...

EDIT: Since everybody keeps asking. It's a group of protesters versus riot police, and the police are trying to remove the protesters from the scene.

[–]emdeema 60 points61 points ago

No, he said SUITE ENHANCES REDDIT

[–]jeltimab 31 points32 points ago

[–]superciuppa 104 points105 points ago

I thought: well it can't be that, I mean that could never happen, although it really looks like it... I'm confused, let's check the comments!

[–]chickenwhale 57 points58 points ago

I still have no clue?

Someone can write it down here?

[–]SXHarrasmentPanda 296 points297 points ago

Apparently a bunch of Catholics were protesting against a Protestant parade, Catholics got a bit out of hand so the police tried to extract some of them and this picture was the result.

Further info for the interested:

Circa 1169, the whole of Ireland came under English rule. The English did not treat the supposed uncivilized Irish natives very well. The Irish didn't like this very much.

As early as 12th century, there was small scale immigration to Ireland from England. In the 16th and 17th century, we had the plantations of Ireland, when the English began forcibly taking land from the Irish and giving it to coloners from England. This happened primarily in Ulster and Munster, leading to a larger population of English in the North of Ireland than the south.

The highland clearances (Scottish nobles fleeing from Scotland) added to this slightly in the 18th and 19th centuries, but to a much lesser extent.

Jump to late 19th century, Irish fought back with Irish Republican Army, in a bloody war.

1914 Home Rule begins - Irish have mostly control over their own affairs, but still swear allegiance to the King of England. Better, but the Irish still don't like this. Outbreak of WW1 stalls proceedings.

1916, Irish republicans (who want complete freedom from England) staged the "Easter Rising"; 7 days of Irish fighting English. English crushed this, but it reignited the idea of Irish using force/fighting to get rid of the English.

More fighting ensued.

1922, the English offered an ultimatum: Get independence from England for the majority of Ireland, but the small pocket of Unionists (who want to remain part of United Kingdom) in the North will remain part of UK. This was the Andlo-Irish treaty. IIRC, the English said "Sign this, or we will flood Ireland with troops, crush all your rebellions, and direct rule will be reinstated". The Irish signed the treaty, thinking that the small pocket in the north would be too small to be viable, and Ireland would be united soon enough.

The border was drawn up, and the English took more than expected - resulting in the 6 counties of Northern Ireland.

Some Irish said "we have come this far, if we keep fighting, the English will take it all back". Others said "We have got this much, lets not give up! Fight for united Ireland!" These two groups fought each other for a bit.

Soooooo.....

Today, there is the Republic of Ireland - independent from UK, and Northern Ireland - a completely separate country from Republic of Ireland; different government, currency, laws, police etc. NI still under british rule, uses british pounds, can get british passports.

From mid-70's until early 90's "the troubles" were at their height. Republicans in Northern Ireland fighting (bombs, shootings etc) the English/Unionists in Northern Ireland.

Religion wise - Ireland was traditionally catholic, England protestant. So today, the majority of Catholics in NI are republican, and majority of Protestants are unionist.

There are still a minority of people fighting this fight: 1 Nov 2012: Prison Officer shot by Dissident Republicans

Timeline of Dissident republican activity March 2009 - October 2012

THE IMAGE

Every year on 12th July, Unionists have a parade to celebrate the Battle of the Boyne a turning point in the catholic/protestant fight in Ireland. Traditionally, these parades pass through republican areas, and the republicans don't like this being rubbed in their faces. They get angry and take to the streets.

The arguement goes like this: R: "Dont walk through here! It offends us" U: "Its our traditional route. It offends us that you want us to change it" R: "Rabble rabble rabble!" U: "Rabble rabble rabble!"

Hope that's understandable!

EDIT Added the stuff about plantation of Ireland and Highland clearances.

TL;DR - History makes some Northern Ireland catholics/republicans dislike some NI protestants/unionists, so sometimes they fight.

[–]Random_Complisults 5 points6 points ago

Thank you!

[–]pearlyblueclouds 3 points4 points ago

Can confirm. From Northern Ireland. Potato.

[–]SocialIssuesAhoy 2 points3 points ago

You just tricked me into reading the entire history of Ireland. I feel deceived!

[–]ciderlout 2 points3 points ago

Part of me is absolutely behind the idea of a united Ireland, but part of me thinks that national boundaries are an increasing irrelevance. Not maybe in the 1970's but now... Cultural difference has a lot to answer for. Good post btw.

[–]awwnoway 2 points3 points ago

Mate, thank you for writing this. I'm from NI myself, and I've never seen someone give such an honest, well worded and unbiased opinion of the place.

Like yourself I was brought up protestant, and can completely relate to your experience. the feeling of hatred towards the other side was everywhere growing up. Got a bit older, realised it was all bullshit and eventually moved away.

I love my troubled wee country but even tho its gotten much better than it was, the problems are still very much there in plain view. I'd be ecstatic to see it sorted out but I just can't see it happening, not while people are bringing up their kids the way I grew up.

[–]Oxxide 40 points41 points ago

fuck yeah, I knew someone would actually know what was happening.

[–]KateMonster11 8 points9 points ago

Finally, an answer! Upvotes for you!

[–]verify_me 4 points5 points ago

OHHHHHHHHHH.

[–]TilDuh 8 points9 points ago

Yah I have no fuckin idea what is happening

[–]Youakim 82 points83 points ago

Can anyone explain what is actually fucking happening ? All the comments are like "oooh, I get it now", but I fucking don't. So tell me.

[–]adventurer784 105 points106 points ago

Why won't any one of you fuckers actually answer and say what's happening? I'm pretty sure that the joke is that what's really happening is that the police are trying to grab a protester to arrest him, and his fellow protesters are desperately trying to hang on to him to prevent his arrest.

But honestly, at this point I'm more upset about all the god damn sudden clarity clarence-ism-ing going on than I am sure in my assessment. Maybe I shouldn't Reddit in the morning.

[–]Waqqy 60 points61 points ago

The police are trying to arrest the fat guy but the protestors are trying to pull him back in. They're not actually trying to get his trousers off.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points ago

Do you think the fat guy is really grateful to his fellow protestors? I mean, this doesn't look real comfortable. And it's not like, if he goes back to the protest lines, he's gonna avoid getting arrested in the medium-to-long term.

[–]fudgemylife 11 points12 points ago

Protestant organisation wants to march through a catholic area to celebrate a dutch protestant prince' victory over an english catholic king.

Lot of catholics regard the protestant marching groups as something like the kkk and resent them marching through their areas.

[–]RockyRhode 5 points6 points ago

From what I can gather, they're trying to arrest the larger man. And the rioters are trying to keep him from police custody?

[–]donkeyrocket 167 points168 points ago

Next you're going to tell me he's got two moneybags as well.

[–]retsamaksrepus 57 points58 points ago

Now I know what my dick is going as for Halloween next year.

[–]SgtRootCanal 9 points10 points ago

Does the monopoly man have a monocle? People always say he does but I've never seen him with one.

[–]delsol5117 21 points22 points ago

Funny this happened today. Yesterday, I told someone I would wear a monocle to an event, like the monopoly guy. Her response was that he doesn't wear one. I did some research and it's true. I think people mistake him for Mr. Peanut

[–]MaxX_Evolution 14 points15 points ago

I assumed he had a monocle because of this guy

[–]PhallogicalScholar 38 points39 points ago

But what if the top hat gets caught on something and tears his dick off?

[–]hoikarnage 74 points75 points ago

Small price to pay for a jolly good laugh.

You're probably the first person in the history of the universe who's typed that exact sentence...

[–]Frank_Castle_Jr 352 points353 points ago

It was a sit down protest in the Ardoyne area of Belfast. Residents protested against the orange order marching through their area, only to be removed by the P.S.N.I. Just another summer in Belfast really. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lbnQdK8IskE Here's the video if interested.

Edit: spelling plus link

[–]lotsocows 81 points82 points ago

What's orange order?

[–]Frank_Castle_Jr 236 points237 points ago

Long story short. Protestants with drums, who on every twelfth of July celebrate the victory of King William of Orange in Ireland in 1690. Ardoyne is a Catholic area and take umbrage to the march taking place. The whole thing is a lot more complicated than that but that's the ultra condensed version.

[–]this_sort_of_thing 300 points301 points ago

Let's march through a Catholic area celebrating their defeat. That'll not cause any issues.

[–]Suppafly 76 points77 points ago

It's similar to the situation with Israel where they march through muslim neighborhoods banging pots and pans talking about how great they are.

[–]DanGleeballs 46 points47 points ago

Does that really happen? If so, yes it's a bit like that.

[–]Suppafly 37 points38 points ago

Yeah there was a pic a while back and all the pro-Israel people were like 'you have to take it in context, they are just happy and celebrating, blah blah'.

[–]herrjoe 64 points65 points ago

It doesn't.

They march in with bulldozers and shout about how they're doing god's work.

[–]YordleBountyHunter 3 points4 points ago

The same way the United States supports the Westboro Baptist Church.

...Wait.

[–]ONXwat 4 points5 points ago

Oh, so the "god's work" bullshit applies everywhere, then...

[–]cbs5090 9 points10 points ago

Not in Australia.

[–]sargeantb2 21 points22 points ago

Sounds nicer than what's happened in the past over there.

[–]this_sort_of_thing 66 points67 points ago

I have no vested interest in the whole Irish situation (well, except for being British, but even then) but I seriously don't see why they feel the need to do this. Imagine if Liverpool decided to celebrate their win ...ok bad example, imagine if Man City decided to celebrate their win by parading around Old Trafford. And that's just sports, yet people get into fights and murder over it.

So you can sympathise with the Catholics and their right to get pissed off at this...

[–]sargeantb2 25 points26 points ago

I agree completely that they should be mad about it. I'm just saying it's died down a bit from when they would throw rocks and stuff at children going to Catholic school, and when the IRA was in full terrorist mode.

[–]jesustaint 3 points4 points ago

Just a bit. The drama over these marches has been going on for hundreds of years, however. And minor pet peeve here...the protestants had terrorists too

[–]Link_Unit 9 points10 points ago

Liverpool fan here, I feel like I'm the only one who saw that sly little insult about Liverpool's PL drought in your comment lol

[–]Hiding_behind_you 5 points6 points ago

As an Evertonian, you're not the only one who noticed, and I lol'd. But then I remembered that as an Evertonian we don't have too much to gloat about, and I stopped laughing.

[–]Feckin_Cheese 7 points8 points ago

Well lets put it this way....

You know the Troubles that happened in Norther Ireland in the 60's? Well at time Irish catholics we're treated as second class citizens. Gerrymandering took place so that protestant areas received more votes, protestants we're favored over catholic's for social housing e.g the most famous case being where a 19 year old protestant girl received a house over a catholic family of six. Catholics as well were discriminated against l in both employment and education.

Now imagine you were a catholic, being treated like muck. Now imagine the Protestants who ran the country and ensured you were treated like muck came marching through your neighborhood to celebrate their dominance & control. Where they would march along singing their songs and throw pennys from a wall into the catholic area.

No flashforeward to today. Northern Ireland is a far more equal society in religious back round terms. However there are still these people marching. They march to celebrate the past and to show that they are "still in charge" that they run the shots, that they are part of a union, a monarchy that you don't support.

It's one thing for football fans to celebrate a match victory over their opponents, it's another for a political and semi relgious organisation to to march through your area to celebrate a regime that established either you in the past or your parets, grandparents as second class citizens for a long time and effectively rub it into your face that who they support is the head of the country.

[–]BucketsMcGaughey 11 points12 points ago

It never used to. Well, not as much. When a march occurred, people likely to be bothered by that sort of thing would just go and do something else.

But towards the end of the Troubles, people who used to just go out shooting and bombing took to more insidious means of maintaining their stranglehold on their communities: they got political.

These people derive their power from driving a wedge between people - they'll never get the other guys to support them, so they have to intensify support among their own, and they do this by emphasising difference and fomenting conflict.

So like I said, whereas before people would have gone and done something else, they've been gradually persuaded over the years that what they should be doing is standing right in the way and making sure everybody knows how offended they are by it all.

Now I'm not saying the Orange Order's archaic pomposity is anything other than a daft anachronism with no place in a modern society. But in the end it's just some guys in bowler hats out for a walk, and a band following behind. They'll be out of the way soon enough. It's not worth all this. Point and laugh at them if you must and carry on about your business.

Source: I'm from just up the road.

[–]movablegraph 16 points17 points ago

Nothing says good Christians than Christians celebrating the superiority of themselves over other Christians.

[–]lotsocows 8 points9 points ago

Ah, thank you.

[–]Frank_Castle_Jr 11 points12 points ago

No problem, don't want to go too much into it,as you can imagine it's a bit of a political powder keg.

[–]JillianaJones -1 points0 points ago

This was the Ulsterman (sp?), right? As an American living in Liverpool, I was a little confused when I came across a random parade in mid-July; apparently it was related to this.

[–]ZippityDooDoo 0 points1 point ago

I read that as "Residents protested against the orange order marching through their area, only to be downvoted by the P.S.N.I."

I have reddititis pretty badly.

Blue jean shortage. Local riot police on holiday and a group of roving bargain shoppers got into a scuffle over a pair of blue jeans at a yard sale. The homeowner donned the pants and stated he was keeping them, in an attempt to break up the scuffle, but was unfortunately torn in half.

[–]theredbaron1834 8 points9 points ago

Best explanation.

[–]HarlawTheReader 10 points11 points ago

No, no, those are fashion police. Blue jeans are so out right now.

After they are done helping that poor man, they should head over to this park.

[–]MrPatch 310 points311 points ago

Oh my god. That totally set my claustrophobia alarms off. I'm still twitching about it now.

[–]JunkmanJim 62 points63 points ago

I had to crawl under my pier and beam house to repair the plumbing last winter, the pipes froze. In order to fit under the house, I had to move with each exhale to wiggle through the initial crawl space, nails stick out the wood above and I was under there for hours making repairs. My biggest fear was being under there with a rat or possum as I sometimes hear animal noises under the house.

You can crawl around under my house to conquer your claustrophobia if you like, best to wear some sort of pants that fit closely around your ankles, don't want a rat or mouse running up there trying to hide.

[–]Jeffu 41 points42 points ago

I'm not claustrophobic to my knowledge... but your post has me thinking otherwise.

twitch

[–]JunkmanJim 14 points15 points ago

Crawling under an old house is creepy. I found an old barbie doll and a toy car under there, may be a dog or animal took them under there, both had been chewed.

Well, don't look under your house.

[–]ShadySkins 18 points19 points ago

I had to recently army crawl under my deck to replace a clogged dryer vent that could be replaced from within the house. At one point my back was stuck under a deck beam while my chest/ribs were pinned to the dirt. I was stuck for about 2 seconds.... but I thought for sure I would die there. It took me 15 minutes to crawl 20 feet.

[–]JunkmanJim 12 points13 points ago

I am not that claustrophobic but being hung up for even a second or two makes me panic a little. Stay calm, deep breaths and keep wiggling!

[–]reevitalizedd 18 points19 points ago

Just keep wiggling. Just keep wiggling

[–]electriophile 0 points1 point ago

It's not a fear of tight spaces that will ensure I never crawl under my house, but my overwhelming fear of spiders and insects. D:

[–]demalition90 0 points1 point ago

So you had little room, nails where poking out above you and you thought possums/rats would be down there? Death waiting to happen D=

[–]Unholynik 242 points243 points ago

take solice in the photoshop. Look at the third rung up

[–]SCSweeps 241 points242 points ago

That's just the coil constricting its grip on its prey.

[–]Cofo 165 points166 points ago

The original had a "fail" caption right there. That's what got photoshopped out. The rest of the picture is real.

[–]Stevenator1 46 points47 points ago

Has anybody ever thought it was possible that the fail was in fact just originally put in that spot to COVER UP the bad photoshopping?

[–]Roboticide 12 points13 points ago

I don't see how you could do such a good job photoshopping a guy into one of those things, and then utterly botch one rung that could easily be taken from another part of the coil. If they were that bad, as to leave evidence of photoshop in just that one area, the whole picture should be a mess.

It makes much more sense for an inept person to be photoshopping out a "FAIL" that someone would put in.

[–]SlenderTroll 5 points6 points ago

First time I have heard that bit.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points ago

1) Move left leg to the same side of the pole as the right leg - large opening on that side due to the coil ending. 2) Extend both legs forward. 3) Slip downward and forward to freedom. 4) Diet, exercise, stop doing stupid things.

[–]RabidWalrus 3 points4 points ago

I can see him now, as he's ready to give up on life as he knows it:

"Oh why didn't I diet, exercise, and stop doing stupid things?!?!"

[–]Wbran 21 points22 points ago

I NEED AN ADULT

[–]platypusmusic 12 points13 points ago

don't interfere with natural selection where it's doing good work

[–]MartinDelgado 56 points57 points ago

I see now how socialized medicine negatively affects chiropractic services.

[–]jereluc 53 points54 points ago

It took me way to long to realize thats not what was really happening

[–]Waldinian 25 points26 points ago

What is happening? I still can't figure it out.

[–]Ianoren 28 points29 points ago

Looks to be the police are attempting to arrest that guy for whatever reason, but the protesters are having none of that.

[–]kimcheekumquat 29 points30 points ago

They're playing tug a war.

[–]fuckUredditors 2 points3 points ago

[–]hawkeyezzz 7 points8 points ago

charged with indecent exposure in 3, 2, 1...

[–]hydraulogic 28 points29 points ago

This skinny jean thing has gotten way out of hand.

[–]no-game 15 points16 points ago

Why the fuck is that guy pulling his chin?

[–]Troggie42 3 points4 points ago

That's a recipe for a neck injury right there.

[–]Sackman_and_Throbbin 27 points28 points ago

Skinny jeans... Not even once.

[–]shorty6049 13 points14 points ago

You're tearing me apart, Lisa!

[–]Ruddiver 16 points17 points ago

[–]CavalierPB 20 points21 points ago

Interesting to see the POLICE filming it...

[–]nathanmcc1[S] 64 points65 points ago

It's so they know who to arrest later

[–]PirateKilt 26 points27 points ago

Also so they have an unedited version to use as evidence if any protest group shows with an edited video later.

[–]I_AM_DESTROYA 1 point2 points ago

Taking off the belt would help...

[–]picbandit 21 points22 points ago

[–]jmitchell___ 10 points11 points ago

FREEDOM!!!!!

[–]OhMaaGodAmSoFatttttt 2 points3 points ago

He could've at least undone the belt.

[–]knuqqler 4 points5 points ago

This needs to be a life size oil painting.

[–]bull961 0 points1 point ago

maybe it would help if they unbuckled the belt... i'm sure it would make life a lot easier.... >.<

[–]falconmhir 1 point2 points ago

Maybe they should take his belt off

[–]sfdmfcssfd 2 points3 points ago

The one photographer has his camera really ready; "Come on penis shot!"

I'd swear he would be sweating in anticipation if it didn't look so cold out in the picture.

[–]Materialntellect 1 point2 points ago

In the spirit of the recent presidential election, I'm going to go ahead and call it right now. "You win best thread title of the day". Despite the thousands of thread titles yet to be accounted for.

[–]fistfulloframen 0 points1 point ago

I would buy that belt!

[–]ninjy77 0 points1 point ago

It would probably help if they undid his belt

[–]Coco35840 0 points1 point ago

Why dont they take off his belt?

[–]IDoStuff13 0 points1 point ago

Just undo the damn belt

[–]maibd 0 points1 point ago

LPT: Take off belt before trying to remove pants.

[–]Opposite_of_Apathy 0 points1 point ago

Belt?
