You don't even need to go that far to see what r/adviceanimals has become.

Remember when memes had to have a pinwheel background? There's even a rule about it to the right of this text.

Right now we're simply witnessing the progression of memes. From a head with set up and punchline on a pinwheel background, through a myriad of stages, until finally reaching what you see in this point; a picture with some text.

You don't get my point. I'm saying the fact that reddit's content can be posted on 9gag and you can't tell the difference is a sad thing. In my opinion, memes attract a certain demographic to this site that would otherwise get their fill at a site like 9gag, which further contributes to the diminishing quality of reddit as a whole. Downvote away.

You're absolutely right. To be honest, I (original comment) am not even subscribed to /r/adviceanimals, and only saw this post because I wasn't logged in.

It's no coincidence that the content that 9gag steals comes from the subreddits like /r/pics, /r/funny, /r/adviceanimals, and /f7u12, which are some of the biggest (and arguably lowest quality) subreddits.

I'd only downvote you for the "Downvote away" bit. Memes are simple comedy and they're everywhere. Reddit doesn't exactly stand over 9gag as a bastion of quality content. Reddit provides a vast variety of content, it's only natural that posts here are going to appeal to 9gag and vice versa. Reddit offers up some stupid shit occasionally, people need to get over it.

        Attacking a candidate's wife is pretty low, but both sides engage in it constantly. Michelle Obama, perhaps because she has inserted herself into so much actual policy discussion, probably gets more vitriol than any other first lady in history except maybe Hillary Clinton (who also got a lot for the same reasons).

        Ann seems like a good person and everything, but her and Mitt were easy targets for ridicule. If it wasn't the Mormon thing, it was the rich thing. I think I saw someone on Twitter make the joke that, "Ann Romney always looks like she's about to yell at a caterer". That's just the perception that the Romney's had, as these privileged, rich, tax-dodging, upper class white people who felt that a lot of people were beneath them. It's not true, but because they fit this idea of a the rich Republican, they don't get off the hook like a Bill Gates, who advocates for higher taxes and gives millions to non-church charities, would.
