How I feel as a Washingtonian right now! (i.imgur.com)

We're the Evergreen State for a reason!

You're actually right unfortunately .
[–]LoLNecrosis -13 points-12 points-11 points 17 hours ago
Being french and dry as fuck cause pot costs more than tabacco... fuck america
[–]Maryjane44 7 points8 points9 points 17 hours ago
Pot cost more than tobacco here too
[–]LoLNecrosis -2 points-1 points0 points 16 hours ago
But your stuff is now legal.
[–]fromthe206 1 point2 points3 points 14 hours ago
In 2 states out of 50.
[–]LoLNecrosis -1 points0 points1 point 14 hours ago
Still better than being completely illegal lol. Also i'd be interested to know how much it costs in america compared to france, where you mostly can find it for like 2 months out of 12 and that our weather is bullshit compared to some of your states.
I have a medical license so it doesn't change anything for me, Prices from the state will be higher than street prices are now. I think the prices will be comparable to what is found in Amsterdam per gram etc. But I have no idea.
[–]murderinmurphy89 1 point2 points3 points 13 hours ago
If it is higher than street price then you can't flush out the black market. For people to buy pot from stores it would need to be less than on the street
[–]fromthe206 0 points1 point2 points 13 hours ago
From what I have read it will cost roughly $25-30 for 2 grams or so in Washington. Now that's not 100%, just what I heard and read yesterday. But that's basically $15/g. People are still going to grow it and sell it. And in higher amounts like QP's and Elbows cause the state won't sell more than an ounce I believe.
I think they are counting on the "quality" making the difference, but most of us that live in Seattle or Western Washington don't smoke that Mexican brick shitty cartel weed anyway. Most of it is home grown. Eastern Washington is a different story though.
We moved to private liquor earlier in the year. And the price went WAY up, among people I know sales went down, people are just stealing it tho. Now I live in Tacoma where the weed is good and $10 a gram, the only reason it costs that much is because it is illegal and drug dealers can charge what they want, that's called artificial inflation. The only reason I'd stop buying from a dealer is better price, which if you aren't getting your stuff from the black market you should be able to price competitively. I've heard it costs about $300 to grow a pound and sells for ten times that illegally

In colorado, I feel the same way, brother. The same way. Too bad I have to wait for the election to be certified, but hey, After smoking for a while, I can keep it under wraps until then.
[–]roachwarren[S] 22 points23 points24 points 1 day ago
Hell yeah!
Colorado has a much better legalization path though. I'm afraid of I-502.
[–]williamana_jones 8 points9 points10 points 1 day ago
Yes, I'm in Seattle and not optimistic about 502 passing. I don't think it's good for marijuana at all. I hope I'm wrong but tonight's bowl is for consoling, not celebrating.
[–]FightsWithForks -1 points0 points1 point 1 day ago
QUICK!!! Lets all down vote people who have a differing opinion! I thought r/trees was different.
[–]pigeoninabox -21 points-20 points-19 points 1 day ago
Isn't the point of downvoting to disagree with a comment? Not trying to be a dick, but if someone doesn't like a comment they should down vote it.
[–]kamiheku 32 points33 points34 points 1 day ago
Actually, reddiquette says that you should downvote comments that contribute nothing to the discussion, and definitely not the ones you disagree with!
[–]JustFloatinAlong 9 points10 points11 points 1 day ago
No. Not at all. You downvote when someone doesn't contribute to the conversation, is rude, racist, disrespectful ect. I'd suggest reading reddiquette.
[–]pigeoninabox 7 points8 points9 points 1 day ago
It's not very specific. I upvote content I think is good so that it will make it's way to the top for other redditors to see, I downvote content (which includes comments) that I feel isn't good.
[–]rawr-barian 2 points3 points4 points 23 hours ago
You are looking at it wrong. His comment is good for the discussion. Sure it isn't good in the sense that we want it to pass.. but that's not what downvotes are for.
[–]pigeoninabox 0 points1 point2 points 23 hours ago
I actually upvoted that particular comment, even though I don't necessarily take that stance, I have heard good arguments against I-502 for the benefit of stoners.
This was just a separate discussion about the use of voting comments.
[–]mason55 0 points1 point2 points 17 hours ago
Even though this comment is very wrong it should be upvoted because it has sparked a good discussion
[–]rabidfish91 0 points1 point2 points 14 hours ago
Upvoting for asking this question, but no, the point is to downvote comments that don't contribute anything to the thread. Downvoting based on opinion is lame
[–]pyrocat 1 point2 points3 points 22 hours ago
How can you be not sure? It has an 11 point lead with 51% reporting and has been for hours.
[–]mgcornea 6 points7 points8 points 22 hours ago
It's "passed", but I think it can still be annulled by the governer or the feds, or something. I'm a physicist, so I have no idea what I'm talking about.
[–]thegrandfunkasaurus 3 points4 points5 points 17 hours ago
I love it when people say "I'm just a (ridiculously impressive job)". I wish I could do that, but "I'm just a security guard/sound tech" just doesn't have the same ring to it, y'know?
[–]Maryjane44 4 points5 points6 points 17 hours ago
I'm a cashier/stock boy... No ring at all
[–]mgcornea 3 points4 points5 points 13 hours ago
Trust me, being a physicist isn't as cool as it sounds. A hell of a lot of just standing around and drinking coffee.
[–]crooks5001 1 point2 points3 points 9 hours ago
I'm a marine biologist and it's pretty much the same for me.
[–]williamana_jones -1 points0 points1 point 16 hours ago
I guess you don't see my point. I'm sure it will pass. If I'm unsure about anything, it's that it's a good move. But really, I am sure it's a bad move. It's not legalization! I don't like that it's called "legalization". There are still huge limits and you can still be severely penalized very easily. This is not a step forward at all. Maybe I'll be pleasantly surprised by how nice the new system is, but I doubt it.
[–]StrangerNo44 4 points5 points6 points 15 hours ago
Surely they can't be worse than the current penalties and I don't think anything keeps us from amending the laws further in the future so why is this not a step in the right direction?
[–]williamana_jones 0 points1 point2 points 15 hours ago
Well, I already feel like I was over reacting, first of all. But my thinking that it's certainly possible for the law to be ammended, but in a more lenient directions seems less likely than tightening it up. But hopefully I was just having a knee jerk reaction due to my disappointment. I hope this is ends up being a great move ultimately.
[–]necron99er 2 points3 points4 points 13 hours ago
There is no reason to believe it wont be amended in a more lenient direction. Look at what happened with alcohol recently. Now you can walk into a safeway at 1am and buy a gallon of vodka.
I'm sick of people being all, " its not legal enough." Tell that to the over ten thousand people who are arrested for simple possession every year in Washington. If you've never been arrested, you don't understand the nightmare it is. Its also a huge fuck you to the racism that comes with prohibition, as if you are a minority, you are twice as likely to get busted for possession.
Its a step in the right direction, and it is going to force the hand of the federal goverment into finally not being able to ignore the facts about prohibition, and realize that the people want it legal, and they want it now.
[–]ChagSC 0 points1 point2 points 12 hours ago
As a Seattle resident, I feel that Pro-marijuana/anti I-502 are either selfish or ignorant.
This is a great day and a step in the right direction. It's completely asisine to think otherwise.
[–]dsalad 0 points1 point2 points 15 hours ago
You have to keep in mind that it will take a longer time for legislation to take effect not only within the public, but for politicians as well. It isn't going to be all unicorns and glitter overnight.
[–]drowninginthedarknes 0 points1 point2 points 22 hours ago
It really could go either way at this point. It just depends on whether they decide to abuse the law or use it for the reason the people wrote it. It's kinda fucked that we live in a society where they would rather follow the law to the letter than do what the people want the law to do. We forget that it is the people that matter, not the laws. People enact laws to maintain order, not to limit humankind. Well, some people do.
[–]ItsMorfinTime33 1 point2 points3 points 22 hours ago
As someone from the east side of the mountains, I'm not ecstatic for 502... Don't get me wrong, I love trees, but the bill itself... ahhh
[–]johansantana17 1 point2 points3 points 7 hours ago
look at it this way: it's easier and faster to pass a legalization measure now and try to make fixes later than to expect lawmakers, who in general are idiots, to somehow draft a perfect legalization measure any time in the future.
[–]FightsWithForks -12 points-11 points-10 points 1 day ago
Say hello to rampant DUI's and outrageous licensing fees. I was perfectly happy with how things were, this doesn't seem like a step forward.
[–]toastyblanket 5 points6 points7 points 1 day ago
The DUI thing is a legit concern. In BC you can have an infraction for "drugs" added to your driving record based only on a police officer's observations of you. How they're going to implement a test for weed.. it sounds like they'll have to draw blood. But afaik there's still no reliable data for determining how stoned someone is. It seems like there's still a ton of practical and legal issues to work out here. Colorado may be a lot more straight-forward, California-style. With the setting up shop and then the raiding etc
[–]FightsWithForks 3 points4 points5 points 1 day ago
That's basically why I voted no. There's too many ifs, ands, ors, and buts. I thought the goal was to simplify the marijuana laws not make them more confusing and seemingly harsher on the average stoner.
[–]toastyblanket 3 points4 points5 points 1 day ago
I especially don't like the Liquor Control Board taking over all distribution and regulation responsibilities. Marijuana is not alcohol and there's no reason to marry them. I'd like to see more studies done before any regulation and especially prosecution of stoner-drivers takes place.
[–]seinsmelled 0 points1 point2 points 17 hours ago
That's a good point. Do you know whether they are going to distribute it through state run stores like hard alcohol used to be, or whether they are going to allow private distribution? I can't find any info either way.
[–]toastyblanket 1 point2 points3 points 12 hours ago
Google seems pretty bogged down with articles that bundle the news about Washington and Colorado together. I'm not sure if the details we're after are out or not. What I'd like to see is a U-grow-type business. Like the facilities you can use to brew beer. You would bring your own seeds, plant them in their pots and their soil, and they would provide the lights and tend to your plants as they grow. Then you come back when it's time to harvest and prepare your trees : )
[–]seinsmelled 1 point2 points3 points 12 hours ago
I like this idea. I don't like the idea of the expense it would cost the state to run and operate stores like they did with alcohol, so I hope at the very least it will be privately operated i. e. smoke shops, dispensaries, etc.
[–]Maryjane44 -1 points0 points1 point 17 hours ago
You do realize in order to get a DUI, they have to suspect that your high. If you're not high and the off chance you get pulled over, you should easily pass the sobriety tests and then not have to be taken to jail and be blood tested.
[–]RPrevolution 19 points20 points21 points 22 hours ago
How many here did not know that Obama hasn't helped the tens of thousands of drug users in federal prison? Or that his administration has shut down many weed dispensaries? He is not your friend, snap out of it.
[–]gpl999 3 points4 points5 points 12 hours ago
I had to tell so many Obama loving FB'ers that today. So many "I love Obama for legalizing weed in Colorado/Washington" posts this morning I almost threw up. Crazy how ignorant people can be.

[–]45_33 8 points9 points10 points 23 hours ago
So what happens to all the people that are in jails for weed? Do they have to stay because they still broke the law when it existed? What about Colorado?
[–]Py72o 9 points10 points11 points 20 hours ago
Yes they would sadly, breaking the law is breaking the law.
[–]phrancois 2 points3 points4 points 12 hours ago

[–]richard_mayhew 14 points15 points16 points 19 hours ago
You did this, not Obama. If anything, he's going to be the one to take it away.
[–]MirandaPrime 27 points28 points29 points 1 day ago
If Obama enjoys bud so much maybe he should stop cracking down on it.
[–]StrangerNo44 1 point2 points3 points 15 hours ago
It has been the federal prosecutors going after dispensaries. As I understand it Obama doesn't have the authority to tell them not to enforce a law if they want to. In a quote from an interview with the president:
"I can't nullify congressional law. I can't ask the Justice Department to say, 'Ignore completely a federal law that's on the books.' What I can say is, 'Use your prosecutorial discretion and properly prioritize your resources to go after things that are really doing folks damage.' As a consequence, there haven't been prosecutions of users of marijuana for medical purposes."
[–]MirandaPrime 0 points1 point2 points 14 hours ago
He could certainly speak out against it. Also he has been tougher in 4 years on medical dispensary raids than Bush was in 8. Maybe he will be even tougher now that he doesn't have to worry about being reelected.

Did it really not pass in OR? I thought Portland would have had it in the bag, as I've seen people on the street openly smoking without getting harassed. Too much eastern Oregon I guess.
[–]abovepostisfunnier 6 points7 points8 points 1 day ago
Eastern Oregon/Eastern Washington just need to join together and be a state. Leave us crazy kid West-siders alone. They don't even get rain 3/4 of the year!
[–]jacls0608 2 points3 points4 points 1 day ago
Couldn't agree more.. In both states it's like opposite world the second you cross a certain point...
[–]macaronibangs 0 points1 point2 points 10 hours ago
Eastern Washingtonian here, I agree about the rain but come on, don't cut us out. We appreciate that the 'west-siders' carried us to this great thing though, it lost 43% to 57% in our county.
[–]NEPXDer 0 points1 point2 points 1 day ago
Totally passed in Portland/Multnomah County. Rest of the state... not so much.
I'm thinking coastal cities, Portland... Maybe Eugene and Salem.. They don't make up enough of the Oregonian electorate. I would bet we wouldn't have passed it here in WA if it wasn't for the hugeness that is Seattle.
[–]akijade 0 points1 point2 points 14 hours ago
You'd think, unfortunately there are people that live outside of Portland. But hey. Washington is close enough for a day trip for me. :D
[–]BreathinBuddah 2 points3 points4 points 1 day ago
Hey Colorado! First worst, second best!
[–]TSnoman 2 points3 points4 points 1 day ago
Thank you! Don't let colorado take all the glory! We are now brother state ents! Too bad about oregon though, I really thought it would have gone the other way :(
[–]ramjambamalam 0 points1 point2 points 20 hours ago
Colorado:
a) has far more lenient legalization, allowing for homegrowing; and
b) they legalized an hour before Washington.
So I think CO deserves a slightly bigger share of the glory. I'm glad I-502 passed, though.
[–]Wolf_Protagonist 3 points4 points5 points 18 hours ago
I think the fact that we have more freedom is far more important than which state deserves more 'props'.
Thanks to everyone, everywhere who voted for more freedom!
[–]DownpoursForAll 5 points6 points7 points 21 hours ago
Why would you post a picture of some asshole who smoked weed as a youth and took no steps to help decriminalize it once elected into office?
Yeah, I'm still bitter about that.
[–]Wolf_Protagonist 2 points3 points4 points 18 hours ago
You mean the same guy who picked a drug warrior as his VP?
I know that feeling.
[–]Fereta 2 points3 points4 points 21 hours ago*
It seems unreal. So much time spent in paranoia and fear, and now it's the same as drinking a beer. I can't believe we've come this far.
Edit: LOL I RHYMED didn't even try.
[–]Wolf_Protagonist 0 points1 point2 points 18 hours ago
You're a poet and you didn't know it?
[–]ChrisWimp 1 point2 points3 points 23 hours ago
im %100 for legalization of all drugs. i am a citizen of the great state of Washington and i voted no on i-502.
i have been fallowing it since it got on the ballot and there are a few problems with calling it legalization...which are outlined in an 8 part article that sensible Washington did. http://sensiblewashington.org/blog/2012/deconstructing-i-502-sorry-folks-it%E2%80%99s-not-legalization/
mainly that the only legal way to grow, process or sell it is with a state issued license. last year our former governor Chris Gregoire veto'ed parts of a bill in regards to medical marijuana because of a threat prosecution of state employees (conspiracy to manufacture iirc). http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/04/29/washington-marijuana-bill-veto_n_855765.html http://seattletimes.com/html/edcetera/2015829188_httpwwwthestrangercomimagesblo.html
we do have a new liberal Governor now...here is a video i found of him from last year talking about marijuana: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bkcYtSot7Og
i think by passing i-502 we have traded the ability to possess 1 ounce (its still illegal to grow, buy, sell, trade or gift) for the increased risk of getting an unscientific duid...i remember hearing something about driving your car = consenting to a drug test but i haven't fully read the bill yet...doing that now. http://sos.wa.gov/_assets/elections/initiatives/i502.pdf
[–]Mortixer 6 points7 points8 points 23 hours ago
i still dont see what the big deal is
[–]williamana_jones 0 points1 point2 points 16 hours ago
Thank you! It bothers me that everybody is happy about 502 passing. It makes me wonder if they even know what this bill is. THIS IS BAD FOR US. I really think that if Washington ents knew what this bill was, they wouldn't be as happy as they seem to be.
[–]wcpackerfan 1 point2 points3 points 1 day ago

[–]Fizzy_J 0 points1 point2 points 1 day ago
Anyone have an idea what will happen to the medical business cause of this?
[–]noodlescb 8 points9 points10 points 1 day ago
Keeps operating. The legal amount you can have is an ounce, but it goes up to a pound and a half with a med card.
[–]lagunka 3 points4 points5 points 1 day ago
Nothing, the new initiative leaves the medical laws untouched. The only difference is it will be illegal to drive under the influence of cannabis, medical or recreational.
[–]DXQRYW 13 points14 points15 points 1 day ago
It has always been illegal to drive under the influence of cannabis. 502 allows you to drive with up to 5 ng/mL so it's actually more permissive than the current law.
There's a lot of misinformation about how long it takes for levels to drop: they usually drop below 5 ng/mL within a few hours and certainly by the next day. None of this "I smoked last week will I get busted for driving" bullshit. 502 may not be perfect but it's definitely a win for WA.
[–]rawr-barian 1 point2 points3 points 23 hours ago
Any idea what amount would put you over 5 ng/mL? Either way.. good ol eye drops.
[–]MakeMyPizza -1 points0 points1 point 21 hours ago
I read you can spike 300-400 ng/mL during the first half hour with a couple good hits. But that is with the "unregulated medicinal quality marijuana". Perhaps with the THC levels at their desired levels, it might take more hits. Maybe less. Either way, it does drop off quick, so they say. We're all different. This will be another way to find that out.
[–]BoosterSilver 1 point2 points3 points 15 hours ago
502 may not be perfect but it's definitely a win for WA.
Exactly. It has its problems, but at least it's a step in the right direction.
[–]ipooinurshoe 1 point2 points3 points 1 day ago
Fuckin' A.
[–]new420 1 point2 points3 points 1 day ago
I'm super fucking excited! Because we're one of the first states to do this, what does this mean now? I can just walk into a dispensary & pick up weed just like I would walk into Safeway & pick up beer?
[–]roachwarren[S] 0 points1 point2 points 23 hours ago
but what do they gain from turning down the thc content? Beverages have their respective alcohol contents to achieve a certain taste, not because they were regulated down from more fun levels. I only really thought of it as an opportunity for them to sell good weed for more, bad weed for less.
[–]MakeMyPizza 0 points1 point2 points 21 hours ago
There are some words about simply destroying marijuana that doesn't live up to their standards (which we have yet to hear will be).. I just don't want to see someone pay all their fees, grow for a year, pay another thousand and grow some REALLY strong stuff.. Only to have it be torched for that very reason. To answer your question, they might possibly only allow weak THC content to better gauge usage at first, enjoy the revenue so much that they say "fuck it, who needs higher THC. 25% tax at ALL levels of sale is good enough with this low quality." Aaand no one will be any wiser.
[–]roachwarren[S] 0 points1 point2 points 17 hours ago
And everyone will keep buying illegal and the state-run distribution won't work? Sounds good to me.
[–]new420 0 points1 point2 points 14 hours ago
So when is this going to start happening? & what's projected cost?

[–]Needbouttreefiddy 0 points1 point2 points 18 hours ago
Possession is legalized in 30 days.
[–]Feenzy218 0 points1 point2 points 23 hours ago
From the thumbnail I thought this was some sort of flying saucer flying over a building that had some sort of thing to do with gay marriage and smoking. I've even seen this picture multiple times before... How high am I right now?
[–]RPrevolution 1 point2 points3 points 22 hours ago

[–]rappe3 1 point2 points3 points 22 hours ago
As a swede, im happy for you guys, just wondering if its obama on te picture? ^
[–]Wolf_Protagonist 5 points6 points7 points 18 hours ago
Yeah, it's Obama.
Ironically, Obama has been worse on marijuana users than Bush was. He promised he wouldn't raid legal medical marijuana dispensaries and then he did it anyway. At least under Bush (Yuck) they weren't raiding dispensaries that were complying with state laws.
Add in the fact that our VP, Joe Biden is one of the worst drug warriors in US history. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.
[–]northwestnugs 0 points1 point2 points 21 hours ago*
For all you Washentonians!
[–]annehka 0 points1 point2 points 21 hours ago
I followed the elections here in europe and stayed up until 5am. well done, Murica. Gay marriage, Obama, weed. This is all sorts of awesome.
[–]IFawDown 0 points1 point2 points 18 hours ago
Not quite, I know gay marriage was legalized in my state (Maryland) as well as Maine on top of the other states where it was already legal. There are lots of other states that it's still illegal. I'll hold my tongue to see if the whole "Obama will be totally cool with everything once he gets re-elected" crap I heard holds any water, but I have a lot of doubt and I wouldn't be surprised if the feds had a field day in CO and WA.
[–]abillonfire 0 points1 point2 points 19 hours ago
This sucks, us here in England will probably never get anything like this
[–]PatrckBateman 0 points1 point2 points 19 hours ago
So when can we go into our local convenience store and buy a pack of joints? :)
[–]alexthealex 0 points1 point2 points 12 hours ago

[–]Leadlet739 0 points1 point2 points 18 hours ago
Hell yeah man. Proud of my fellow Washingtonians today and especially all the washingtents.
[–]skza 1 point2 points3 points 18 hours ago
Is that Obama smoking a joint? cool he's just like me! except for that whole he's okay with detaining his own citizens indefinitely thing, but forget that, LOOK HOW COOL HE IS!!
[–]fourtwenny 1 point2 points3 points 15 hours ago
Uptokes for truth. Anybody who's not familiar with the NDAA should go look that shit up. Really scary stuff.
[–]laebshade 0 points1 point2 points 18 hours ago
I'm not a joker, a smoker, or a midnight toker, but I support the people's right to burn one.

You mean a Washingstonian.
[–]Hotform 0 points1 point2 points 17 hours ago
How long till legal infrastructure gets put into place?
We did it! Passing both the legalization of marijuana and the legalization of gay marriage (hopefully, looks good so far) is HUGE!

"The Obama administration has consistently reiterated its firm opposition to any form of drug legalization."
Paragraph 3 Sentence 2
[–]valkyrie123 0 points1 point2 points 16 hours ago
As a Minnesotan THIS is how I feel today. Thanks Republicans for trying to ban gay marriage.
[–]coolstorybrosky 1 point2 points3 points 15 hours ago
Will people quit fucking posting pictures of Obama as if he's pro-legalization.
[–]fromthe206 0 points1 point2 points 14 hours ago
I'm glad it's legal but I'm not a fan of the DUI clause in the legislation. And I would personally never buy cannabis from the government. I'm glad I got my medical card 3 1/2 years ago.
[–]iPinheadLarry 1 point2 points3 points 14 hours ago
Question: why does everyone seem to neglect that Washington legalized? Do people just care about Colordo more?
[–]seafoxx 0 points1 point2 points 6 hours ago
Because Washington did not legalize. Marijuana remains a schedule 1 drug, right next to heroin. If I passed you a bowl, I could be charged with felony distribution. 502 was marketed as full legalization, they puked that shit out all over the news, and it's just false. Makes me sick to my stomach that they could blatantly lie to and mislead the public.
[–]iPinheadLarry 0 points1 point2 points 6 hours ago
...WAT!? FUCK THE WORLD.
I'm right there with ya. I live here in Washington, and an overwhelming majority of people are under the same misconception, not through much fault of their own (other that the fact that the only source of "information" that they avail themselves of is their local news).
As an Oregonian right now, I'm sorely disappointed.

[–]DocSporky510 26 points27 points28 points 1 day ago
What my esteemed colleague was trying to say is that President Obama has a poor record on marijuana, and the DEA has attempted to disrupt California's legally operated medical marijuana dispensaries, and we should perhaps be more guarded in our enthusiasm towards him until he reforms his position

[–]RPrevolution 6 points7 points8 points 22 hours ago
I bet many Ents don't know that Obama is all talk when it comes to supporting drug freedom and hasn't tried to help the tens of thousands of drug users in federal prison. It's almost funny when the excuse is "If he gets a second term, then he'll surely help us."
[–]oreotiger -2 points-1 points0 points 16 hours ago
Wow, it's almost like handling controversial issues woulda gotten him ousted.
[–]anonymous_troll 2 points3 points4 points 14 hours ago
The guy passed the NDAA, which violates the Constitution. Weed has nothing on that. Not to mention that it just got legalized in 2 states.
[–]roachwarren[S] 3 points4 points5 points 1 day ago
Washington and Colorado have already had dispensaries for quite a while and have not be cracked down on (as badly, especially in WA). I welcome the DEA to come in and shut down state-run distributors, that's exactly the fight we want to see. I did support Obama, but I'm not claiming he's a friend to legalization. He did talk about his support for it in 2008, maybe now that he doesnt need to worry about re-election, he'll be able to make some moves if he wants.
[–]anonymous_troll 5 points6 points7 points 1 day ago
Why did he need to crack down in his first term? What makes you think that he'll do anything to help us in his second?
[–]Here4ThePie 0 points1 point2 points 1 day ago
He had to get re-elected first. Now that he's got the support of the Americans who still think pot is "The Devil's Weed" (or as much support as he could get) he doesn't have to worry about attack ads from the Right.
[–]anonymous_troll 8 points9 points10 points 1 day ago
So why crack down in the first place?
[–]Here4ThePie -2 points-1 points0 points 1 day ago
I'm just playing assumptions here, but I think he raided enough so no one could point fingers at him during his first term. Washington was pretty much left alone.
Basically had he really been after growers, he could have done much much more and he didn't.
[–]Zoolotak 6 points7 points8 points 1 day ago
Washington was pretty much left alone.
That's not how I remember it. http://www.tokeofthetown.com/2011/11/dea_sweeps_across_western_washington_with_dispensa.php
That's why I said "pretty much."
They only shut down 9 in a one day sting. They could have been constantly shutting down all of them for the past 4 years.
[–]RPrevolution 3 points4 points5 points 22 hours ago
Why does this sound like "my boyfriend beat me up, but if I show him some love, he'll start to care for me"?
