And every man: "Every sperm is sacred, every sperm is great, if a sperm is wasted, god gets quite irate!"

"let the heathens spill theirs, on the salted ground. God will make them pay for each sperm that cant be found"

I absolutely HATE the memes that say something a long the lines of "if it were found on mars, it would be considered life". On that logic, we are all going to have to stop using antibacterial soap.

[–]Light-of-Aiur 36 points37 points ago

Actually... please stop using antibacterial soap. Regular soap kills enough bacteria and cleans your hands well enough to prevent infections. Antibacterial soap just promotes antibiotic resistance among common bacteria.

[–]SOEDragon 5 points6 points ago

I don't use antibacterial soap.

[–]Light-of-Aiur 2 points3 points ago

Ah. Pardon me, then. Carry on. ;3

[–]blueskinM/LTR (marriagefree too) 2 points3 points ago

It's fine for certain uses - e.g. having just got back from a hospital, although even in that case you should use the alcohol gel they provide instead anyway.

[–]lengthynewt 0 points1 point ago

I've read that antibacterial soap is just a lie, anyway. Manufacturers can apparently put it on soap without any kind of proof their product is antibacterial.

which is why I like using the handmade soaps I find. nodsnods

The problem is that there is a difference between 'life' and 'human life'. The former is much easier to define than the latter.

[–]SOEDragon 6 points7 points ago

Right, I'm in a STEM field and it really makes me angry when people use "science" be it pseudoscience or abusing scientific definitions to simplify their argument. But it just makes them sound stupid. I don't really care what your definition is or what you want to do with that belief but NONE of this makes sense.

[–]Light-of-Aiur 0 points1 point ago

But it just makes them sound stupid.

It makes them sound stupid to those that know the proper definition or the currently accepted science behind the subject, but to those that know less than them it makes them seem really smart.

Have all my upvotes.

[–]SOEDragon 2 points3 points ago

At least someone agrees with me.

All these people who say "life begins at conception" better be vegan.

[–]filez41 21 points22 points ago

No no, human life is different. Because, um, god.

A Haiku for you:

Lettice everywhere,

My salad is a graveyard,

I am a monster

[–]blueskinM/LTR (marriagefree too) 4 points5 points ago

Those poor, innocent plants!

[–]Darthac 50 points51 points ago

I mean, with that logic, wouldn't every woman who has a period be a murderer...?

[–]ohsilly24/F/PA 22 points23 points ago

Shh don't let the Tea Party hear that.

[–]Light-of-Aiur 23 points24 points ago

Actually, let the Tea Party hear that. Then let them know that combined oral contraceptives can decrease the number of periods a woman has in a year, thus saving the lives of all those yet-to-be ovulated eggs!

[–]saktiDC 7 points8 points ago

YES! This is just brilliant, I can't wait to use this argument.

[–]varemia 4 points5 points ago

In that case, God is doing it.

[–]DJMattB241 2 points3 points ago

To be totally honest, the people that put forward the argument in OP's image probably wouldn't have TOO MUCH of an issue with shaming women over their periods again, if it were more socially acceptable.

[–]biketrike 0 points1 point ago

Haploid cells aren't alive I guess.

[–]rmarkham 22 points23 points ago

Aren't you supposed to block out the names and faces to protect privacy before you exploit people on facebook for reddit karma?

[–]BerylUbergirthI am sloth woman, hear me snore[S] 8 points9 points ago

huh... didn't notice that the OP hadn't done that

[–]Aviatrix89 7 points8 points ago

Hah, me neither. I don't even look at it.

[–]Darthac 7 points8 points ago

I'm pretty sure I've seen this somewhere on the internet before, leading me to believe that these are not real people that the OP knows.

[–]S_Pbr__M 0 points1 point ago

I can confirm that these are in fact real people. I know that last name and the location checks out.

[–]ahlksdjycj 5 points6 points ago

Pshh. I'm stalking them already.

[–]manic_panic 3 points4 points ago

I wish Samantha was my friend.

[–]bmmbooshoot23/F/KY 4 points5 points ago

that's kinda discrediting actual mothers of dead babies too, 'ent it?

[–]BerylUbergirthI am sloth woman, hear me snore[S] 2 points3 points ago

oh definitely, but what people like this want to achieve is shocking someone into submission, however what they're actually doing in undermining the terrible experiences of people. It's quite common these days.

[–]Cleriesse18/f/canada 7 points8 points ago

I have every right to exfoliate my uterus.

[–]BerylUbergirthI am sloth woman, hear me snore[S] 6 points7 points ago

definitely, we need to keep it young and fresh looking!

[–]rammaam 5 points6 points ago

So people who get tapeworms removed are hosts to dead parasites?

[–]culofiesta 3 points4 points ago

These are the same people that think the death penalty is just awesome and love to say "drill baby, drill" right?

[–]SlayBelle30goingon12/f/LTR 0 points1 point ago

Oh for fuck sakes, these people, they steal my air :(

[–]JohnStrangerGalt 1 point2 points ago

Looks fake.
