Alternate subreddit

This subreddit allows lively debate, and while we do try to remove obvious flamebait, that may include posts some would consider trolling. An alternative exists at /r/Paul which is more strictly moderated. Note that this is a clarification, not a change in the policies of either subreddit.

Rules

Please read the detailed rules if you haven't yet

  • Don't be a jerk - in particular, please substantiate controversial claims so as to avoid posting flamebait
  • Be civil and debate honestly - in particular:
  • No name-calling or personal attacks even if you think the other person is a terrible troll. This will be enforced mercilessly.
  • /r/ronpaul is not your personal army - don't link to flame wars or ask for help winning some other thread
  • Links to merchandise - any link selling something needs to explicitly state who the money goes to
  • No memes or non-newsworthy pictures in top-level posts (comments are fine). Post to /r/ronpaulmeme instead. (rule suspended post-election)
  • Stay on topic - in particular:
  • No conspiracy theories. Credible evidence of election misconduct is fine. Otherwise, post to /r/conspiracy.

They laughed at Edison. They laughed at Einstein. But remember, they also laughed at Bozo the Clown.

The thing about dumb people is that they seem like dumb people to smart people.

[–]Bobby_Marks 7 points8 points ago

I was gonna say that the thing about crazy people is that they seem like smart people to dumb people.

[–]HumourNoir 5 points6 points ago

So, Sarah Palin was in fact misunderstood?

[–]W_Edwards_Deming -1 points0 points ago

Who thought she was crazy?

[–]matts2 2 points3 points ago

Me. To be serious here for a second I strongly suspect she is certifiable narcissistic. Not simply self involved, I think she has trouble grasping that others exist/matter. Look at how she treated her newborn. She could barely hold it. A standard politician would have made a full issue of holding the kid, Palin held the baby at arms length pointing away from her.

[–]W_Edwards_Deming -1 points0 points ago

Weird, but ok. Have you ever watched her TV show? She doesn't strike me as mentally ill by any stretch, but obviously she craves attention.

[–]matts2 1 point2 points ago

Never watched the show. But remember, I'm looking at the non-scripted actions. Politicians have to think of themselves as special, it goes with the territory. But she is quite distinct. Go back to 2008 and see how she treats her children, it is rather chilling.

[–]W_Edwards_Deming 0 points1 point ago

I hear ya, but I have also been watching Sara Palin all along. This is my favorite Palin moment btw:

Happy Thanksgiving!

[–]matts2 0 points1 point ago

No, I don't need to see that again. It is forever seared into my brain.

[–]angelmusikal 0 points1 point ago

She's one of the crazy people who dumb people think is smart.

[–]LibertyWaffles 6 points7 points ago

This doesn't mean every person people deem crazy are geniuses. Sometimes, someone who is against the Civil Rights act, against being in the UN, pro-economics that no one who actually studies and works in the field is for, and against federal dollars being used for disasters is just crazy.

[–]neurosnap -1 points0 points ago

Maybe it's because people take things at face value rather than spending the time to fully understand one's actions or ideas. "OMG! He's against the civil rights act?! Without investigating his reasoning he must surely be a racist." Great work.

[–]LibertyWaffles 0 points1 point ago

Did I call him racist? No, he's just an idiot. Although the newsletters don't make him look very good...

[–]Corvus133 -1 points0 points ago

I think you qualified as one of the dumb people.

Surprised EPS trash would touch this article since its basically about them.

[–]LibertyWaffles 0 points1 point ago

And how did I qualify as one of the dumb people? By daring to question Dear Leader?

Whenever I get down on myself, I try to keep in mind, "hey at least I'm not in a cult of personality centered around a stammering old man with bad ideas."

[–]hinnomaki 1 point2 points ago

And the converse is not true. So if you're crazy+dumb, don't read this and think "Oh wow, I'm actually pretty smart."

[–]LSYouTiger -1 points0 points ago

You can't blame people for being "dumb"

Our government is brainwashing our society and dumbing it down with censored media. Education is too important for our government to have control over.

[–]Kuldebar 0 points1 point ago

Laugh at everything, it's all a joke.

[–]RandsFoodStamps 1 point2 points ago

No memes or non-newsworthy pictures in top-level posts (comments are fine). Post to /r/ronpaulmeme instead.

[–]pdclkdc 3 points4 points ago

this subreddit has completely gone to shit anyway, so who gives a crap? it's an inspirational image.

[–]Decitron 2 points3 points ago

how is it inspirational?

[–]RandsFoodStamps -4 points-3 points ago

so who gives a crap

The mods and readers like me.

it's an inspirational image.

It has nothing to do with Ron Paul and is against the rules.

[–]blacksunalchemy -1 points0 points ago

Oh shut up RFS you don't even like Ron Paul

[–]RandsFoodStamps 0 points1 point ago

Why do libertarians always insist on telling other people what to do?

[–]blacksunalchemy 0 points1 point ago

Freedom to speak, doesn't mean that you have to obey.

[–]RandsFoodStamps 0 points1 point ago

But you keep trying to use force to tell me what to do. I'm starting to think you're a closet statist.

[–]blacksunalchemy -1 points0 points ago

Words are not acts of force

[–]wattmeter -3 points-2 points ago

“...you don't even like Ron Paul [sic]”

Judging by the last two GOP primaries, the only conclusion that can be reached is that few people like Ron Paul.

[–]Canadian4Paul 4 points5 points ago

Judging by the last two GOP primaries, the only conclusion that can be reached is that few people republicans like Ron Paul.

His bipartisan and international support is (or was) incredibly high. Unfortunately that isn't what counts in the primaries.

[–]wattmeter -2 points-1 points ago

Is this faith-based anecdotal evidence or based on internet surveys and straw polls?

[–]blacksunalchemy 0 points1 point ago

ಠ_ಠ the actual conclusion if that the mainstream media ignored and sabotaged Ron Paul. If he got the same amount as all the other shitty candidates got he probably would have done better. Not to mention the Republican party fucked him over good.

And not to mention idiots like you who harass people all day.

[–]wattmeter -1 points0 points ago

Ron Paul received 3-million popular votes of the 39-million votes cast in the 2008 and 2012 GOP primaries.

The best way to understand this is to look at the candidate before blaming others for his failures.

The best way to understand this is to look at the candidate before blaming others for his failures.

Please explain this.

[–]wattmeter -2 points-1 points ago

Adding Ron Paul's 1988 presidential run to the last two GOP primaries gives Ron Paul 3.5-million popular votes out of 130.5-million votes cast.

[–]Corvus133 -1 points0 points ago

What was that boggs thing that was just discovered as true that most thought was untrue?

Claiming more people do something doesnt mean its right. Then again, the world is flat since so many once believed then its got to be true.

Numbers and belief != knowledge but keep writing that, toolbox.

All i read is a bunch of uneducated people all like to repeat the same mistakes and are followers. Thats basically your argument.

[–]blacksunalchemy 0 points1 point ago

Didn't care to explain the video? The media did everything it could to ignore Ron Paul. If he got 10% of the coverage Mitt Romney got he would have done much better.

[–]Corvus133 -1 points0 points ago

And the third eps troll clicked on the image that was about dumb people (them).

And, you guys qualify as dumb since you are told shit 1000 times over and still cant grasp basic concepts.

[–]wattmeter -2 points-1 points ago

“A fish fight is brewing in Canada as an eagerly anticipated report on the fate of sockeye salmon in the Fraser River of British Columbia has blamed the federal government for weakening environmental laws that are meant to protect the fishes' habitat.

The report also finds that employees at the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO) are confused by their dual mandate to protect wild fish while also promoting the fish-farming industry.”

And the thing about crazy people is that they seem smart to dumb people.

Use your logic, nothing more.
