And vote before you get Halo....

[–]OwlOwlowlThis 15 points16 points ago

Halo 4, Microsofts vast, super secret voter suppression conspiracy.

[–]MollyBloom11[S] 17 points18 points ago

Voted Friday!

[–]JesusRollerBlading 4 points5 points ago

So how is being a lawyer these days? Fun?

[–]MollyBloom11[S] 4 points5 points ago

So far so good!

[–]SiS-Shadowman 4 points5 points ago

I finished Halo on saturday (god I love those shops that sell games early)

[–]mailmanmx 0 points1 point ago

Thoughts? No spoilers please.

[–]SiS-Shadowman 0 points1 point ago

I loved it, though the story was quite confusing at times. I guess I'll have to play it again in order to fully understand everything (part of the confusion probably came from playing all games & watching the series in English, whereas I bought the last one in German, because it was the only version available at the time). I'm amazed how far this game has come in 10 years, how much backstory has been added to it: It's quite the universe.

At first I was afraid that it wouldn't feel like Halo because the score itself didn't contain the classical Halo theme, but it did eventually show up. I was a bit saddened that the score isn't as noticeable as it once was.

I enjoyed the difficulty (played coop on heroic) although it still was quite short. We played through it in two evenings/nights in probably ~9 hours.

Can't wait for the official release so it'll be safe to play online though :)

[–]Mr_robasaurus 1 point2 points ago

Ha! Their audience is also partially broke college kids, we cannot afford it.

[–]BadgersB 31 points32 points ago

Reddit iAMA taught him well.

[–]Ayatrollah_Khomatmei 13 points14 points ago

Obama: "OK, so that huge liberal circlejerk site...what is it again? Right, Read-it. I have a feeling those fuckers are gonna be too lazy to leave the house to vote. Interns, send them some me-mes or something."

[–]joeredspecial 4 points5 points ago

The funny thing is you're right, I bet less than 30% of /r/politics redditors over 18 will vote on election day.

[–]ProWars 0 points1 point ago

I bet 100% of joeredspecials will make dumbass probability guesses no one will ever know the answer to.

[–]joeredspecial 0 points1 point ago

I bet I was right.

And war is bad, mmkay?

[–]ProWars 0 points1 point ago

Lol it's a football reference, I'm not a proponent of real wars. I early voted for Obama. Woo he won!

[–]LaceChokerNecklace 1 point2 points ago

I smirked after reading your comment and guffawed after seeing your username.

[–]RN_Who 19 points20 points ago

If I knew this is what the Obama campaign was sending out, I might have actually read some of their emails!

[–]lemanlyfridge 16 points17 points ago

Meow go and vote already.

[–]RadioFreeReddit 13 points14 points ago

Go vote right meow!

[–]Szos -3 points-2 points ago

No, no, no... Don't meow, vote!

[–]MattPH1218 2 points3 points ago

...booo

[–]carnivalofsouls 6 points7 points ago

I had nothing to do with making these, but I was one of the people sending them out and I can vouch for their existence! My first thought was "This was made for redditors" - but I should have thought to post it here first!

[–]MollyBloom11[S] 1 point2 points ago

I knew there had to be other people who knew about this, Ohio isn't a tiny place!

[–]SharkkkFighter 11 points12 points ago

STOP FAPPING... and go vote! Love, Obama

[–]DesertOTReal 31 points32 points ago

[–]ZombieWrath 11 points12 points ago

It's wise going back to the scene, for example you may need to get the iceburgs insurance details...

[–]boejangles 14 points15 points ago

No electing Romney is like backing the Titanic up all the way back to NY harbor trapping everyone onboard and then sinking it anyways while the rich sit around and laugh at all the people drowning.

[–]Dawggoneit 11 points12 points ago

... the Titantic left from Southampton, UK

[–]boejangles 3 points4 points ago

It's a silly comment and I don't care.

[–]varemia 14 points15 points ago

Or by having everyone pay a lifeboat tax, unless you make over a certain amount. Then, you can get on a lifeboat for cheaper if you are a millionaire.

[–]NoCowLevel 8 points9 points ago

TIL all wealthy people hate people everyone who has less money than them

[–]Bortjort 0 points1 point ago

That's why no wealthy people create or donate to charities

[–]NoCowLevel 1 point2 points ago

lol... good one.

[–]Iheardthatjokebefore -2 points-1 points ago

That's the long and short of it.

[–]aftershave 1 point2 points ago

I remember making this argument against Gore in 2000. Good times.

[–]GetHighr -2 points-1 points ago

This is why I'm not voting. Both major candidates are just illusions, Mitt Romney is so bad, it makes me think he does it on purpose to help Obama win. Obama just says things everyone wants to hear and usually never confronts the issue he promises. Obama is the better choice, however I still do not support him because both candidates are huge liars.

[–]edisekeed 1 point2 points ago

might as well vote 3rd party to get your voice heard

[–]1CUpboat 1 point2 points ago

There are other, more important elections on your ballot.

[–]Iloveangrysheepsex 14 points15 points ago

Am i the only redditor who hates cats? seriously, i hate the little bastards.

[–]rockerlkj 43 points44 points ago

BRAVERY LEVEL:

[–]31stan -3 points-2 points ago

STFU Level: you

[–]MollyBloom11[S] 15 points16 points ago

Ok, I'll come clean...I actually don't love cats either. But, I appreciated the sentiment of the thing.

[–]massoutput 0 points1 point ago

I'm so glad you said this. I like the fact that they are doing their homework, but at some point, you gotta draw the line on the privacy issue.

[–]DivinusVox 5 points6 points ago

Yes, you are literally the only one. Nevermind the thousands of times comments like yours get upvotes.

[–]cloned_again 3 points4 points ago

Dogs > Cats

[–]GetHighr 1 point2 points ago

My dog watches TV while cats just lay there and sleep.

[–]whiskeyonsunday 1 point2 points ago

Judging from the amount of comments and posts like this, no. No you are not the only redditor who hates cats. But I can lie and tell you that you are special if you'd like.

[–]NihilisticToad 1 point2 points ago

The only kind of cat I want to see is a grumpy one.

[–]-Tommy -2 points-1 points ago

I dislike them, some are okay. Digs are where it's at! A dog loves you forever, no matter what.

[–]waggle238 -1 points0 points ago

And finding a dog at a dig? PRICELESS!

[–]AFewSecondsAgoDouche -3 points-2 points ago

Oh you're gonna get fucked up for saying that shit bro.

Don't try to be a hero, nobody likes a tryhard hero.

[–]thelizardking76 2 points3 points ago

More than anything it just goes to show you how you are being watched. Creepy!

[–]edokun35 2 points3 points ago

I've never been so mad in my life. I registered to vote, but my family and I moved and I realized too late. It pisses me off because I was the only one concerned about voting in my household.

EDIT: Grammar

[–]flourdevour 2 points3 points ago

that sucks. maybe if its not too far away, you could still go vote where you are registered?

[–]edokun35 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, we only moved down the road, can I still vote?

[–]flourdevour 0 points1 point ago

yes. you should still be able to vote wherever you voted last time? google you state and "am i registered". that how i figured out.

edit* or this page might help...helpful link

[–]edokun35 0 points1 point ago

This is my first time voting though.

[–]flourdevour 0 points1 point ago

if you registered and you moved, you should still be registered wherever you were. look up your voting place and go vote. if you got a voter registration card in the mail, then you are on the list somewhere. you should be able to find out with a bit of googling. good luck.

[–]huxrules 2 points3 points ago

Yea go vote where you are registered.

[–]amirawr 0 points1 point ago

I feel your pain a bit. ]; I live overseas and missed the deadline to vote absentee by a couple of days

[–]huxrules 0 points1 point ago

There might be a way around this. I don't know your laws or situation. However I work internationally and have had voting issues before. Last presidential election I registered for vote by mail but never got my ballot. There was a procedure in Texas that still allowed me to vote I think it was a provisional ballot that I had to print and send in. Perhaps call your county clerk?

[–]amirawr -1 points0 points ago

This voting stuff is so confusing ]:

[–]FarashaSilver 2 points3 points ago

http://www.fvap.gov/resources/media/fwab.pdf

You can fill this out and mail it in. Your vote will be counted. As a US citizen residing outside the US, you always have a right to file FWAB whether or not you requested an absentee ballot.

Print it out, fill it out, mail it in.

[–]amirawr 0 points1 point ago

Thank you!

[–]brary_rabbit 0 points1 point ago

Did you move between states? In many states you can vote in person even if you signed up for absentee.

[–]xlrc 2 points3 points ago

Whats the point of voting early, other than not being able to be at a poling station on tuesday?

[–]llpancholl 34 points35 points ago

You take it upon yourself to help make the lines on tuesday a little shorter so others less patient than you are more likely to stick around and vote.

[–]eehii 10 points11 points ago

I'd never actually known or thought about that. Nice reply. I grew up in Oregon so every vote I've ever cast was prior to election day. Love Vote by Mail.

[–]Maq_S 1 point2 points ago

Why vote early if you live in Oregon? Does that state have a different "election day"?

[–]eehii 1 point2 points ago

No, same election day, but we don't have polling places like other states. All voting is done by mail - At least since I've been able to vote. I've ever only actually been in a voting booth once in my life when I was a little kid and my dad took me with him to vote.

So because it's all by mail - you have to vote early so you can mail it in. You can also drop off your ballot at the clerks office, or designated location. Loads of people vote on election day and drop off their ballots, but the majority mail them in or drop them off early. We have like 85% turn out of something crazy.

[–]Maq_S 0 points1 point ago

Aha! Thanks for a great answer!

[–]keiyakins 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, it's crazy that 15% of people shirk their duty.

[–]eehii 1 point2 points ago

voting is not a duty it's a right

[–]greywizard77 7 points8 points ago

No sir, it is both a civic duty and a privilege. You have a social contract to do it right up until you commit a crime bad enough to have the privilege revoked.

[–]blandrew 2 points3 points ago

As a felon I can confirm this

[–]MrStonedOne 1 point2 points ago

check here most states actually allow it once parole and probation are done.

[–]MrStonedOne 1 point2 points ago

funny, only 11 states actually forbid felons from voting.

most allow it once said felon is done with jail/parole/probation. california included.

[–]eehii 0 points1 point ago

No, it isn't. You have the right to vote, not a duty to do so. In much the same way, you have the right to worship freely, the right to express your views, the right to run for public office – but no obligation to do any of them. Just as freedom of religion encompasses the freedom to practice no religion, your freedom to vote for the candidate of your choice includes the freedom to vote for no candidate at all. (Source because I was too apathetic to actually write a response)

[–]greywizard77 0 points1 point ago

I respectfully disagree, sir. You do have a civic duty to vote. People bled and died to give you that freedom. I don't care if you vote for Mickey Mouse, but you have a responsibility to all of those who die defending your freedom, past and present, to do so. Sure, you can shirk that responsibility if you want. However, it does not make it any less a responsibility. It was earned through someone else's sacrifice.

[–]LambastingFrog 0 points1 point ago

Less patient ... so they wait longer and do it at the last minute?

[–]WaltMitty 1 point2 points ago

My ballot was mailed to me and I got to sit down and google all the candidates and issues. It's easy to know your choice for president and senate, but I find city- and county-specific stuff like alderman, recorder, and tax levies hard to pin down until I have the ballot in front of me.

[–]League_of_Nickelodeo -1 points0 points ago

Halo

[–]-Tommy 0 points1 point ago

Aka, why I still play Xbox instead of getting a PC.

[–]League_of_Nickelodeo -2 points-1 points ago

you have a pc. its 2012. get off ur downs horse

[–]-Tommy -1 points0 points ago

Like a gaming pc, I have a normal use computer.

[–]League_of_Nickelodeo -1 points0 points ago

whats the difference

[–]-Tommy 0 points1 point ago

Lower specs, crappy graphics card, low ram, slow all together as a pc. My friend downloaded some free steam games on it on his account and tries to game on super low settings and it looked bad and was still pretty glitchy. We did find a cool zombie game that worked well. I will admit that of gaming is nice because of the massive library of games, but I'll stick with Xbox because I more enjoy gaming with friends I know rather than friends I meet online, sure I'm friends with some cool people I met on Xbox, but it's never the same gaming with them over my real friends.

[–]League_of_Nickelodeo -1 points0 points ago

im talking about computers from 2012. not ur crt from the 90s.

[–]-Tommy 0 points1 point ago

It's 2005 I think, it's windows 7, just a cheap computer I got because I needed for school work

[–]Robears -1 points0 points ago

Well, he did do an AMA. If that pic is legit, it would at least make sense.

[–]mper100 -1 points0 points ago

Why is there a 1 pixel white border on three of four sides of the image...

[–]MollyBloom11[S] 0 points1 point ago

Because I just did a crappy screenshot straight on the email and wasn't very careful about making my edges nice. I'm sorry!

[–]mper100 0 points1 point ago

You screenshot-ed an email!? That likely had a compressed image in it!? Oh god my insides.

[–]JoesShittyOs -1 points0 points ago

He's definitively has someone who knows his market.

[–]corsain 2 points3 points ago

This shit must end.

[–]adamsawesome10 0 points1 point ago

I heard on Conan that they are trying to get you to vote based on your internet history. I'm Surprised that you didn't get one about porn.

[–]meancommentredditor 0 points1 point ago

So that's the reason they passed those anti privacy laws.

[–]no_egrets 0 points1 point ago

Those stickers are horribly fake.

[–]TacoFloober 1 point2 points ago

Not really, the whole watching cats on the Internet thing is pretty general to the Internet IMO.

[–]orthag 0 points1 point ago

I like the Obama campaign's get out and vote ad campaign. It's the classiest bunch of political ads I've ever seen. And living in Ohio means I've seen a lot of them.

[–]Schwarzengerman 1 point2 points ago

Or i could just not vote and sit back and enjoy everyone losing their shit over the election instead.

[–]bootnuts -1 points0 points ago

Gary Johnson, FTUSA

[–]keith_weaver 0 points1 point ago

...They know their audience.

Uninformed cat picture loving drones?

[–]Tynaiden 1 point2 points ago

I had not seen that ad until about 10 minutes after clicking this reddit post. Literally cannot un-see now, it's all over my Youtube, Facebook, and Google searches. ;_; On serious note: I think it is a good ad considering the nastiness floating around some of the election up until now.

[–]Catticus2012 0 points1 point ago

Cats rule! Bulldogs drool. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kNuepuxRu0A

[–]eziocreed -1 points0 points ago

don't vote for obama vote Romney

[–]GaSSyStinkiez -1 points0 points ago

Memes aren't funny when a company (or a politican, in this case) co-opts them for their own purposes.

[–]HybridM -1 points0 points ago

Fuck Obama, Romney Ryan bitches

[–]supkristin -4 points-3 points ago

I'm really jealous. You should frame it.

[–]Superstringcheese -3 points-2 points ago

[–]ztkraptor -2 points-1 points ago

I love how its a Mac Laptop too..hilarious..

[–]LaceChokerNecklace 0 points1 point ago

"Lololool, isn't this Mac vs. PC rivalry so interesting?"

Get a life.

[–]ztkraptor -2 points-1 points ago

?? No, I'm implying that the Mac is mostly used by progressive art dummies who don't understand the value of a dollar. Just as Obama supporters don't value the dollar.

[–]mclollolwub -3 points-2 points ago

If you didn't make it, don't post it.

[–]Ozymandiazzz -5 points-4 points ago

Vote for crony capitalism and more removal of your constitutional rights.

[–]joeredspecial 2 points3 points ago

So vote for Obama or Romney?

[–]Ozymandiazzz 0 points1 point ago

Quite the predicament we're in.

[–]joeredspecial 0 points1 point ago

You could always vote for Gary Johnson.

[–]Ozymandiazzz 0 points1 point ago

Well, Libertarianism is a whole other can of worms.

[–]joeredspecial 1 point2 points ago

A delicious one.

[–]Ozymandiazzz 0 points1 point ago

Tyranny is okay as long as its private individuals doing it?

[–]joeredspecial 1 point2 points ago

Illegitimately coming to power over yourself? Sure?

But that's not libertarianism.

[–]FarashaSilver -1 points0 points ago

Vote for Jill Stein. The only Presidential candidate who has been practicing what she speaks. She has been arrested several times for being involved in direct action protests against Fannie May/Freddie Mac, the Keystone pipeline, and others.
