I live in Arizona, so I have no idea when DST is going on. Or if it's an hour ahead or behind.

[–]PopeFantaXIII 16 points17 points ago

Not having to worry about DST is one of the few good things about this state.

[–]da1hobo 7 points8 points ago

My phone worries about it for me.

[–]MaxPowers1 5 points6 points ago

ASU chicks are a pretty big bonus imo.

[–]ZiggyZombie 1 point2 points ago

China has no DST. It is a nice thing.

[–]sexycaterpillar 0 points1 point ago

Also great burritos.

[–]mrcouchpotato 1 point2 points ago

does this mean that i have to wake up regularly? dammit arizona! why my parents move here?!?!?

[–]lBLOPl 2 points3 points ago

I am Arizonian and what is this?

[–]PopeJohnPaulII 1 point2 points ago

I live everywhere else and I have no idea when DST is going on. What I do know is that once per year the clock fairies give me an extra hour of sleep. BUT THEN once per year the clock trolls appear and push every ones clock forward an hour. Why can't science fix this! Hmm?

[–]masterwolfe -1 points0 points ago

I hate always having to figure out what everyone else is doing though. Am I on California time again? Is New York two hours ahead or three now? Especially because my online friends treat me like an idiot for never being able to keep track of their schedule. "No it is 5:00, I wont be off work for another hour"

"WTF are you talking about it is 6."

"Daylight savings silly Arizonian!"

[–]beccaonice 60 points61 points ago

Uhhh, am I the only one who gets more excited about the extra hour of daylight towards the end of the day than the one at the beginning that I never experience?

[–]tomorrowboy 53 points54 points ago

I fucking hate losing an hour of sunlight in the afternoon/evening.

I have to get up and go to work, I don't care if it's dark out. But getting out of work and having it be dark already is depressing as hell.

[–]MinnesotaNiceGuy 15 points16 points ago

This totally sucks in MN, It literally gets dark at like 3:30 in the afternoon, If I don't go out for lunch, I might go days without seeing the sunlight.

[–]I_AM_SO_HUNGRY 1 point2 points ago

It's like being a vampire, but the only reason blood is ever spilled is because of hockey injuries.

[–]iamablackbeltman 0 points1 point ago

It's alright. It's twilight until like 5:00.

[–]thunderling 2 points3 points ago

No no no, I care if it's still dark out when I wake up. I feel like it's the most unnatural thing in the world for a human to be awake and expected to be alert before the sun even rises.

Trying to wake myself up in a dark room is really difficult. It must be psychological or something, because if I get the same amount of sleep but the sun is shining, it feels a lot easier to feel awake.

[–]ZiggyZombie 0 points1 point ago

I worked overnights one christmas season. I would leave at 9, get home at 8. So I would just see the sun rise and i went to bed. While I was working so much it wasn't hard to sleep through they day, but as hours disappeared I literally could not get an hour of sleep. If I worked 2 days in a row, I would maybe sleep for an hour after the sun went down, before having to get ready for work. Nothing I could do would allow me to sleep while the sun was up.

I ended up just going a few days without sleep and had a massive sleep day on Monday.

[–]silent_p -1 points0 points ago

I work from home. I never see the sun, and I sleep however long I want anyway.

[–]ckb614 0 points1 point ago

I would love to just shift three hours in the other direction. Let it be dark til noon and light out til midnight

[–]DesertTripper 0 points1 point ago

B-b-but the poor little snowflakes would have to walk to school get dropped off in front of the school by their helicopter parents in giant SUVs... IN THE DARK! The horror!!

[–]ndrew452 -2 points-1 points ago

I completely agree. I think we should be on Daylight Saving Time all year round.

[–]shrididdy 2 points3 points ago

See: Spain, Argentina, Malaysia, and others.

[–]sildo 2 points3 points ago

Saskatchewan.

[–]Zenreich -1 points0 points ago

We don't talk about that kind of thing around here.

[–]chetlin 0 points1 point ago

Please let Japan know. They start their days so late (seriously, some stores don't open until 11:00) and the sun rises before 4:30 am in the summer and sets before 7:00 pm usually. They need to first move their entire country one time zone over, and then implement summer time. That might cause issues with the sun rising at 7:45 in the winter but that really isn't that uncommon in a lot of other places and I think they could deal with it.

What's funny about Spain is that they pretty much do have summer time all year, and yet they still set their clocks forward in the spring :P doubly late sunny evenings!

[–]yellow_mellow01 1 point2 points ago

I'm more focused on going to bed earlier/later and geetting up earlier/later than sunlight.

[–]roboroller -1 points0 points ago

As someone who gets up early to run I love the extra daylight in the morning.

[–]SuprChckn -1 points0 points ago

I enjoy the evenings starting earlier... I prefer the darkness...

[–]InferiousX -2 points-1 points ago

Right there with ya, brother. Getting dark at like 4:45 in December eats my taint

[–]dapperrogue -3 points-2 points ago

You and Ben Franklin are the only two.

[–]hazy_browns -3 points-2 points ago

...but you dont get an extra hour. its the same number of fucking hours. god damn this moving hours back and forward. "oh look we get another hour of sun"

NO mother fucker, it's the same number of hours

[–]schniggens 68 points69 points ago

*Saving

[–]MaxPowers1 23 points24 points ago

He was just excited about the current deals at his local store.

[–]fearsofgun 5 points6 points ago

I'm surprised more marketing for daylight savings time isn't done to be honest.

[–]sister_carlotta 6 points7 points ago

Has no one learned this yet? People are driving me nuts!

[–]GenericCommentGuy 4 points5 points ago

Is there a difference? Will people not understand what he's saying?

[–]BassEXE -3 points-2 points ago

Yuo can sitll udnresatnd waht I am syanig hree, tehrefroe it's oaky if I awlyas tpye lkie tihs?

[–]HKBFG 1 point2 points ago

[–]fingyer 1 point2 points ago

I'm pretty sure it's okay to say it either way!

[–]Daffy1234 -1 points0 points ago

We all know that it's actually "Daylights Aving"

[–]davy_crockett 21 points22 points ago

I love LOTR, but I gotta say, Elijah Wood totally over-acted that "morning in Rivendell" scene.

[–]3hirdEyE 16 points17 points ago

GaaandAAAlf???

[–]analgesiac 3 points4 points ago

OHH-HHOO-HHOO-EEE--AHHHHHH-AAAAAHHHHH-HAHAAAAA

[–]rape_meister 3 points4 points ago

The picture is reversed for when 5pm rolls by. Oh god it's so dark and cold and I just want to be drunk and held by a woman.

[–]travelerr 19 points20 points ago

Spring forward? Fall back? Nobody has heard of these?

[–]dapperrogue 9 points10 points ago

You mean "SPRING out of bed, 'cause you've got to shave sixty minutes off your commute!" vs. "FALL asleep, you've got a bonus hour of bliss up in this bitch."

[–]lizardom 1 point2 points ago

words I live by.

[–]NewToBikes 0 points1 point ago

What do they mean? As someone whose country doesn't have an amazing thing like time travel, this is new to me.

The words, I mean.

[–]cannabist 3 points4 points ago

In the Spring, the hour goes an hour forward. In the Fall, the hour goes an hour back.

Spring forward, fall back - it's a nice way to remember.

[–]Meme_weaver 1 point2 points ago

At least it's in March and November now. It used to be April and October, meaning a full extra month of this darkness bullshit.

[–]shrididdy 1 point2 points ago

Keep pushing it up/back. Until we are just in permanent DST.

[–]Meme_weaver -1 points0 points ago

Fine by me. Moving it back a month was the one and only single good thing Bush Jr. did.

[–]tesla3327 4 points5 points ago

[–]Scarbane 0 points1 point ago

Except for those of us who worked an extra hour because we work night jobs.

[–]Guynith -1 points0 points ago

Or those of us who have young kids that just woke them up an hour earlier than normal.

[–]Kinky_Squash 0 points1 point ago

I can't wait to repost this March.

[–]Dwells_Under_Bridges 5 points6 points ago

Daylight Saving is March - Nov. Daylight Saving stops from Nov - March.

This meme is stupid.

[–]Capexist -3 points-2 points ago

Don't know why you're getting downvoted, you are correct.

[–]Meme_weaver 15 points16 points ago

Because, although it was pointing out something that is technically correct, everyone reading it knew what OP meant, and he's pedantically shitting on the joke for no good reason.

[–]Codacus 1 point2 points ago

Mmm.. I agree as well; shallow and pedantic.

[–]Nerfherder32 1 point2 points ago

I've posted three different awesome LotR references, but did I get any karma? Nope, now I'm gonna sit here and brood while I wait for your post to get buried

[–]yerm[S] 12 points13 points ago

We must bring vengeance upon these heathens!

[–]MonksWithSticks 0 points1 point ago

My sister just told me "Nana-nana-nana", sent from you. Something about you hitting the front page again. YOU JERK!

[–]yerm[S] 1 point2 points ago

I love you too man! Bask in my internet glory!

[–]MonksWithSticks -1 points0 points ago

[–]GreenDaemon -1 points0 points ago

welp. maybe next time.

[–]GreatBosh 1 point2 points ago

"An extra hour of sleep!? Yay, more time for Reddit!"

[–]viacom13 -1 points0 points ago

Ha no extra time for Hunters I lose an hour of sleep both times

[–]Kalcoholic 0 points1 point ago

So excited for the hobbit.

[–]pyroclastic_viking -1 points0 points ago

[–]cheesiepoofs -1 points0 points ago

yea thats not how it went over for me.. what i did instead was get overexcited the night before and ended up staying up waaaaay too late... I woke up today at 6:45pm

[–]pwnyoface -1 points0 points ago

I slept for 12 hours last night.

[–]ElRed_ -1 points0 points ago

But you still enjoy the March one because you know you'll wake up to sunshine not pitch black darkness. In Britain we need this!

[–]pork2001 0 points1 point ago

This New York matron always demanded 50% off, so when Daylight Saving Time ended, she only set the clock back a half hour.

[–]Scrode -1 points0 points ago

[–]PacifisticKiller -1 points0 points ago

Isn't it Daylight Savings, then Daylight Spending?

[–]Mitz510 -1 points0 points ago

As someone who gets a goodnight sleep once every 2-3 weeks the top picture demonstrates my morning. I woke up 30 minutes before football started as opposed to the usual 2 hours.

[–]ejackso1 -1 points0 points ago

Not for me. My friends and I had an all night LAN party. We hardly slept at all.

[–]sildo -1 points0 points ago

Honestly I don't even notice that change. I blame traveling for work. I go though 2 time zone change in 2 days.

[–]Senator_Christmas -1 points0 points ago

Am I the only one here with an internal clock? My body was like "What the fuck is daylight saving time?" So I was up at 8 instead of 9 this morning.

[–]_rafiki_ 0 points1 point ago

Unfortunately I can't relate since I live in Arizona.

[–]dont_press_ctrl-W 0 points1 point ago

And it's fucking November! November to March.

North America spends 8 months in Summer Time and 4 months in Standard Time.

At this point I don't understand why we don't just declare every time zone in North America to be one hour before. This hour of daylight at the end of the day would obviously help in the winter as well. Eastern time becomes GMT-4, central time becomes GMT-5, and so on. Arizona can be grafted onto Pacific time if it doesn't want to change. No more changing, all the (supposed) advantages of summer daylight saving without any of the inconvenient of changing times twice a year.

[–]coutNotes 0 points1 point ago

Fall DST is like a national holiday to me. But I woke up this morning sick from stress, after sleeping for 11 hours it only felt like 6. I felt like somebody had canceled christmas

[–]InferiousX -1 points0 points ago

One of the advantages of having an erratic sleep schedule, is that I barely notice the effect on my body as far as sleep hours go.

Although I call bullshit on people who claim that their sleep pattern is thrown off for "weeks" in the spring because of the missing hour. Seriously, one hour fucks you up that bad? What are you, a lily?

[–]Gibblesworth -1 points0 points ago

Common thread between waking up on daylight savings: Feel like Frodo

[–]WhatTheFugue -1 points0 points ago

tru.dat

[–]bawb88 -1 points0 points ago

Unless of course you still stayed up super late and slept in until the early afternoon. I felt so horrible, not so much physically as "... I can't believe I wasted away that extra hour..."

[–]pbtifo -1 points0 points ago

Yes, because on Sunday nobody ever wakes up at whatever time they want regardless of what time it is.

[–]DesertTripper 0 points1 point ago

www.standardtime.com

Their proposal not only gets rid of DST time shifts, it gets rid of two US time zones, too.

[–]anderangel73 -1 points0 points ago

It's the opposite for me.. I work night shift and always.. ALWAYS.. Have to work both nights..

[–]Kelphatron9000 -1 points0 points ago

I waitress at IHOP on weekend graveyards. All daylight saving time did this year is make me work an extra hour.

[–]seawang -1 points0 points ago

Alternatively, these captions could read:

"How I feel at 4pm March-November" And "How I feel at 4pm November-March"

[–]CrayolaS7 -1 points0 points ago

"March Daylight Saving" isn't a time, you mean "when daylight savings starts".

[–]kiwingenuity -1 points0 points ago

TIL there are 2 daylight savings :x

[–]disasterific 0 points1 point ago

That's funny.

Still haven't slept...maybe tomorrow.

[–]tetzy 0 points1 point ago

Question: Why don't we just set the clock 30 minutes ahead and leave it there?

[–]BadRussell 0 points1 point ago

I don't know about you but I drank my face off at the bar for an extra hour.. I looked more like Gollum when I woke up..

[–]kenetha65 -1 points0 points ago

Uh, daylight saving ended today. It didn't start today.

[–]Soundwave_ -1 points0 points ago

I work 10pm-8am...even for daylight savings. I'm also not compensated for that mystery hour. I figured it was a good idea to take my lunch at 1am.

[–]kosterhaus -2 points-1 points ago

yes. upvotes a coming!

[–]jumpingnoodlepoodle -2 points-1 points ago

Last spring, loosing an hour was the best thing to ever happen. (well maybe not THE BEST).

I was working over nights at tim hortons, and had already been up for school 6-5:30, my 1st job 6-10 and then doing overnights at tim hortons 10-6 (yes, 24 hours, the math is right)….SO when it went from being 1:59 to 3 am, I was completely over joyed that not only was I going to get home and sleep that much sooner…I got paid for an hour of work that never existed :D

I'll never love this day in spring ever again, but i've never been so happy for it!
