My dog got a few cactus spikes stuck up his nose, it was me who did the squirming while the dog sat there with a "Man up and get on with it" look.

These spikes were a few inches long, luckily not those funny hooks, barbs or fur style spikes.

I'm sure it didn't hurt that much after the initial puncture just very cringe inducing especially when the nose started coming with the spike. He also managed to impale his groin on a stick which required him being stitched back up, he doesn't seem to fare well with pointy objects.

The often ignored fur spikes are the absolute worst part. I reached over a blind ledge once while rock climbing and grabbed a prickly pear. That grab was a "full on expecting to suspend my whole body weight from that hold" kind of grab. Pulling the huge spines out was horrible but what really ruined my life is that my entire palms was covered in the fur. You can't pull that out. All the little fur spines just break off leaving the tips to work their way deeper into your skin. For about a week any time my right palm touched anything it felt like I was slapping the side of a wood-burning stove.

TL;DR: Fear the cactus fur.

    My moms 110 pound doberman wont even look at my pet hedgehog anymore after getting jabbed because he was sniffing her.

      Sure it probably does a great job of it as well. The problem with a nuke launched from a sub is the trajectory, it doesn't go high enough, or far enough, for long enough to intercept.

      Funding for the program was cut in 2010 and the program was canceled in December 2011.       In all seriousness though, that thing, even if funded, is a toy. There is no way you could scramble enough of them fast enough to make any sort of difference. America is too big, those are too expensive, there are too many missiles, the class of targets it can hit is too limited, etc.

      I am sure defence contractors love building shit like that though, and I must admit that big lasers are pretty damn cool.

      I know there is a problem. But it's delicious. Industrialisation of the process is a real problem. The way we deals with animals and their well being is a more general problem. I had to deal first hand with hens, they couldn't move at all even in liberty. They didn't know how. I know "it's bad elsewhere" isn't a good argument, but I don't feel there is a specific problem with foie gras, only a problem the way it is done sometimes.

        I was just surprised. It seems that usually when a domesticated animal is forbidden as a pet, it is because they are an invasive species to the area...but if hedgehogs are native to France, then they wouldn't be invasive.         That's because there is no standard for a URL that says it must have a certain file extension. The standard is the MIME type. If Imgur sent the wrong MIME type, we might have a problem.

              It's one of my biggest pet peeves when people do this. Calling one's self "mom" in reference to your dog conjures very uncomfortable images of one giving birth to dogs, breast-feeding dogs, changing dog diapers, wiping dog asses, etc.... I hate it so much.

              I'm sorry you can't have children, but to pretend a pet requires anywhere NEAR the level of responsibility a child does is ludicrous. There's plenty of children who would love a good home to go to, waiting to be adopted. "Doting" on something is not what having a child is about. You don't have to teach your pinscher economics, history, science, politics, how to be a decent person, or how to drive. You won't have to pay for college for it. You won't have to console it when another dog breaks it's heart. You won't have to hope it takes care of you when you're older. You won't be arrested when you euthanize your dog because it's too old, and because it's the right thing to do. I'm sorry, but it isn't the same.

                  This is actually really fucked up. Dogs are inquisitive animals... the dog did nothing wrong by trying to bite the hedgehog... that's evolution telling it to check things out and see if its food... this is really pretty stupid.

                  Ok, so the cute photo I posted from facebook ended up being a repost. I can appreciate the negative sentiments. Downvotes to the left.

                  But I don't necessarily understand why people are incredulous that I found this on facebook; as if one of my friends couldn't have possibly posted a picture they found on another site without explaining it, which has now lead to some dumbest internet arguments I've ever participated in.
