  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

                              I believe that is a screenshot from Howl's Moving Castle. Man, that movie was gorgeous. *Edit: Another shot, #54, is DEFINITELY from Howl's Moving Castle, so it's very very likely that that field/cloud pic was Howl's as well.

                                    That is the full map of Middle Earth, detailing Khand, Harad, and other lands solely referenced as the 'lands to the south and east'. There's a lot more to it than the area in which The Lord of the rings takes place.

                                    Technically even the Undying Lands aren't on the same plane as Middle-Earth anymore, and of course Beleriand is sunken along with Numenor. That map's from the Tolkien Bestiary (great book, by the way), where it explains that this is Arda through the ages.

                                            This map was from the old game Middle Earth Role-Playing (MERP). It appeared on the back of one of the rule books. I'm not sure that it was ever an official map according to the Tolkien estate.

                                                  Your post is the most useful here. Honestly, I think it is way better to sift through that endless plethora of wallpapers than to look at OP's selection. Wallbase's most popular section provides you with amazing stuff. A person's choice of wallpaper ends up being too subjective. Which is why after going through all 150 of OP's wallpapers, I didn't even choose one (although a few of them I already have). I have a collection of over 266 wallpapers that change every hour on my computer. Every single one is of the most excellent quality, and I won't settle for any less. I can't pick any one over another, as I've taken a lot of time to carefully choose each one. So, OP made me really appreciate what I have, but really, it's Wallbase I appreciate the most (although it's mostly because only a certain amount of Star Wars esque content will satisfy me; OP had too much for my taste). Everything I have is from that site.

                                                      The Stormtrooper one just gets the helmet goggle/bridge-of-the-nose design wrong. Which is a fairly common mistake, but it makes me sad, 'cause that one's my favorite. :(

                                                      On the real helmets, the raised rim of the goggles actually becomes the recessed area in the middle, and in this painting the goggle rim just melds into the nose, with the recessed area being separate. :(

                                                          Damn. That Middle-earth one blew my mind. If that is a real map from one of the Tolkiens, that's just incredible. The fact that The Hobbit and the LOTR Trilogy only take place in what seems to be about only 1/10 of the whole world is almost too much to handle.
