The left side is called "Edo Style" art. It's from the Japanese Edo period. I highly suggest checking out some other stuff from the time period. You can see the style of art in Total War: Shogun 2.

Yeah created by Katsushika Hokusai as part of a series he did called the 36 views of Mt. Fuji. "The Great Wave of Kanagawa" was his first piece in the series.
