Thank you Arsène got me rolling in my own piss.

[–]PrivateSparkleThumbs 14 points15 points ago

is this from Django unchained? I can't wait for that movie. Looks good.

[–]qnnplmr 5 points6 points ago

Yeah! I actually just went to see The Man With the Iron Fists and Quentin did an intro that included the red band trailer for that movie. And that trailer was significantly better than all of The Man With the Iron Fists.

The same thing happened with I Am Legend in IMAX. As a trailer for The Dark Knight they showed that whole opening bank robbery scene, and, while I liked I Am Legend, nothing in it even touched that trailer.

"a good looking female"

So yeah...

[–]hotpie 15 points16 points ago

female beep boop

[–]specialk16 2 points3 points ago

Hot Pie? ASoIaF reference?

[–]hotpie 3 points4 points ago

yes

[–]specialk16 2 points3 points ago

awesome. I'm halfway through the second book.

[–]hotpie 2 points3 points ago

Nice. Third one is crazy

[–]agentqed 1 point2 points ago

Have you discovered The Tower of The Hand website yet? Definitely the best place to go if you need to remember who a character is/where a place is but don't want to get spoiled. Googleing literally anything from that book is a recipe for major spoilage.

[–]specialk16 1 point2 points ago

Thanks!! I knew I had seen a spoiler-safe site but couldn't remember the address.

And yeah... hell, even telling people you are reading the books will make them talk about the show and spoil things for you : (. Happened twice with the first book.

[–]agentqed 1 point2 points ago

I hate that. So upsetting. I'm pretty sure that the only way to really avoid getting spoiled is to read like the wind! When you're done with them (not before, since it is super spoilery over there) you can join us at r/gameofthrones and r/asoiaf!

[–]specialk16 1 point2 points ago

Hey, I have another question for you. When would you consider it safe to watch the second season of the show? Should I wait until I finish the A Clash of Kings?

[–]agentqed 0 points1 point ago

Depends on how far you are, really. If you are very near the end of the book, you could certainly start watching and finish the series once you've finished the book. But if you are less than halfway through, you might be better off reading a bit more first, just because the showmakers dive into the action pretty rapidly.

Essentially, the second season covers all of book 2, plus a handful of Robb scenes from book three--just enough to keep you involved with his storyline, which is mostly reported secondhand in the book.

Cool. Thanks!

[–]colucci 1 point2 points ago

What movie is this from?

[–]Tailend22 13 points14 points ago

Django Unchained, a Tarantino film that's not out yet.

[–]vonnegirl 1 point2 points ago

Do you know when it's supposed to come out?

[–]kingmoon 0 points1 point ago

Isn't there a movie where he plays a similar character?

[–]leocadia 11 points12 points ago

Then she immediately decides she doesn't like you because you called her a 'female.'

[–][deleted] 3 points4 points ago

You're right, I heard they prefer bitches these days.

[–]smugthug 0 points1 point ago

But she is a female...what is he supposed to say?

[–]tuckels 0 points1 point ago

Girl, woman, lady would probably all work. "Female" often comes off as sounding sort of cold & scientific.

[–]smugthug 0 points1 point ago

The caption doesn't read "Hello female, it's nice to meet you". It says "When someone introduces me to to a good looking female". In this context I don't see how using the formal term is out of place.

[–]leocadia 0 points1 point ago

Because who the heck says "female" in relation to another human being? Never in my life have I heard any worthwhile person say, "Oh, that's a good-looking female" or "That's a good-looking male" except in the case of, say... A butterfly or a horse or another animal or a scientific specimen or something? Like, are they being introduced to a good-looking mare, or a good-looking Monarch butterfly? It's kind of off-putting.

[–]smugthug 0 points1 point ago

The examples you provided do sound off, but the one used in the original post sounds fine. Your examples are situations in which you are pointing out something to another person in a casual conversation. His example is far more detached, and is a generalized observation of how he tends to react to these circumstances. Using more scientific-sounding terminology here sounds fine to me, not that he couldn't have just as easily used the word "woman" as well though.

And as a side note, people do also use the word "female" kind of as slang. You might not be familiar with that I don't know where you're from.

[–]leocadia 0 points1 point ago

It sounds very detached and impersonal and, like the other commenter said, scientific, though. It doesn't sound like he's talking about a real woman, it sounds like he's observing her through a microscope at the cost of referring to her as a person rather than a specimen. Then again I really am just debating semantics - so it's not so much that the usage is incorrect as that it gives me and probably would give some other women a pretty yucky feeling.

I'm from the US, and I've never heard it, at least not in my group of friends (which encompasses most/all groups that might be sizing up the looks of a woman).

[–]smugthug 0 points1 point ago

Yep nothin' wrong with a semantics debate though, and I do understand where you're coming from.

As far as the slang usage, it is in the U.S. and is more common with black people I suppose. I don't know your background but maybe you come from an area without a lot of black people, but I've been hearing about "fine-ass females" for as long as I can remember. So its slang usage, combined with the fact that it IS a proper term, could be why it sounds normal to me and not to you.

[–]SocialBunny198 2 points3 points ago

I have to see this film.

[–]weindog 0 points1 point ago

Is there a woman's but sticking up in front of the fire that moves just as the crash zoom happens?

[–]YoungRL 1 point2 points ago

No, it looks like it's a slave tending the fire.

[–]weindog 1 point2 points ago

That makes more sense. I just thought it seemed rather Tarantino-esque to introduce the villain just casually receiving a blow-job from a slave while sipping on a black cigarette.

[–]YoungRL -1 points0 points ago

lol, right?!

[–]hornyhornyhippos_69 1 point2 points ago

At first I thought he was holding a syringe needle and you were trying to say something about roofying women.

[–]remhawk99 0 points1 point ago

You had my curiosity, but now you have my attention.

[–]rozas8890 0 points1 point ago

Can someone please tell me what movie this is from?

[–]Joskeuhtje1[S] 0 points1 point ago

Django Unchained, as said above
