Eric the bee in the process of turning into Eric the half-a-bee. Ouch, both for the guy getting stung and the bee ripping its guts out.

Still, awesome photo, great timing.

It would be Erica the bee, males bees are only used for reproduction and not regular bee-errands.

Ouch, right in the Pythons.

sniffle.

Although you're right, of course.

Any time there is a post about bees, I think of this: http://buttersafe.com/2010/10/21/serving-the-queen/

poor bee is going to die... :(

[–]Gracen 10 points11 points ago

That's why I always said if I had to be stung by anything, it'd be a bee. Imminent death for the bastard.

Yo fuck that bee, B.

[–]mash_sour 15 points16 points ago

that would make it bestiality and necrophilia at the same time.

It's about 4.5 months old, and definitely posted here before.

Really popular in pics lately though...

I honestly had no idea that they could shoot those things out

"When a honey bee stings a person, it cannot pull the barbed stinger back out. It leaves behind not only the stinger, but also part of its abdomen and digestive tract, plus muscles and nerves. This massive abdominal rupture is what kills the honey bee. Honey bees are the only species of bees to die after stinging." source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bee_sting#Honey_bee_stings

You have to wonder why evolution attached their stingers to their foodtube. Thanks for the explanation.

[–]PuntzJones 2 points3 points ago

But its not necessarily a sure thing that they'll die if they sting you. If the barb doesn't get stuck in very deep, they can manage to fly off unharmed.

[–]IAmCertainlyNotLying 4 points5 points ago

Adding to this: they only get stuck in animals with too thick skin, so if they sting another bug or something like that then they won't get stuck with the barb and therefore they won't die from it.

[–]masterboat -1 points0 points ago

How do I know you're not lying?

[–]Ugbrog 1 point2 points ago

They don't; the stinger slowly pulls shit out as they fly away.

[–]jrblast 2 points3 points ago

I thought that it stuck the stinger in there, but it was attached to something internally.

[–]mikemol -1 points0 points ago

I got over my fear of those things years ago...but my horror level has gone up.

[–]Genjuro77 0 points1 point ago

Pisses me off that cool little bees have to die to play defence while the majority of shit life aggressively plays offense.
