Parent here. Do not do this.

[–]j0phus 27 points28 points ago

Non-parent here. Why not?

[–]Jawshee_pdx 91 points92 points ago

My kids would kill each other. It would be Elementary School Thunderdome.

[–]IronLung420 49 points50 points ago

Older brother here. Do it up!

[–]whatevers_clever 27 points28 points ago

Middle child here- go ahead. I don't care. Those 2 usually go at it anyways and I get blamed for watching.

[–]Inyourcargovan 16 points17 points ago

Middle child here... maybe this shirt will make my siblings enjoy my company... -_-

[–]ManeValidus 7 points8 points ago

Single guy here. go ahead to it! hold on let me grab my beer first.

[–]Yankeessfan13 4 points5 points ago

Only Child here- Put a second shirt on me idgaf

[–]karan_kavan_abol 8 points9 points ago

Older sister agrees.

[–]hasitcometothis 4 points5 points ago

Don't try it with your pets either :/

[–]sildo 3 points4 points ago

I came here to say this. I am not a parent but I'm pretty sure that if my parents did this to us they'd have 2 less mouths to feed.

[–]KingofCraigland 4 points5 points ago

2 less mouths to feed.

That's genius!

[–]FalconOne 3 points4 points ago

want to make extra money on the side? do this and pay $5 a ticket, people would pay to watch kids kill each other. It happens on PBS.

[–]BrittanyRenegade 0 points1 point ago

As a parent of 3 kids, ages 5 and under, I can confirm this. Although there would be a lot more room in that shirt for a toddler thunderdome.

[–]Jawshee_pdx 3 points4 points ago

Toddlerdome: Rise of the Diapers

[–]csbrown83 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, I was about to say that. when we were very little my father would make us sit on the couch and hold hands. One, we figured out quickly that if he left the room, we could beat the shit out of each other better. Two, forcing your children to be affectionate while as a parent you're angry sends the wrong message - there's a better way to do that. But the shirt is funnier.

[–]Halcyon408 14 points15 points ago

I would listen to them if i were you, he's ProbablyNotLying.

[–]hiptarded 6 points7 points ago

in the old days, people would tie cats together by the tail and sling them over a clothesline. the cats would scratch and bite each other until one died.

same premise here.

[–]TreeSmokerTAway 0 points1 point ago

Oh god.. spent too much time visualizing that :/ fuh

[–]ProbablyNotLying 3 points4 points ago

It'll create conflict between them, resentment towards you, and potentially focus their anger on each other.

[–]halasjackson 0 points1 point ago

Another parent here. This one speaks the truth.

This is the kind of device I can imagine a 15-yr-old parent would use and think is oh-so-imaginative and effective.

This "treatment" goes against pretty much everything that developmental / child psychology can say for sure is good parenting.

[–]slipperyfist 2 points3 points ago

Imagine a roommate you hate, now imagine being forced to be stuck in a shirt with them. In this imaginary scenario, did you hate them more or less afterwards?

[–]mcguire 0 points1 point ago

Nothing brings people together like a common enemy.

[–]formerlylurkinlurker 13 points14 points ago

I agree. Don't do this op, you'll just turn your kids against each other even more. Its mean. There's a difference between being funny and mean. Edit: dammit op! This isn't even your pic! Double edit: he never said it was his pic and I'm ashamed. I'm sorry, op.

[–]mungd 14 points15 points ago

I disagree. My dad used to employ this tactic with my brother and I when the two of us would fight. We would have to sit on the fireplace and hug until he said enough. While we were sitting there fumingly angry with eachother, inevitably, we would transfer that anger/frustration unto my father and find common ground.

My brother and I are pretty damn close to this day, a good mix of friends and brothers. I'm definitely using the hugging tactic with my kids.

[–]polarityomg 3 points4 points ago

My fiancee's mother used to make her daughters stand nose-to-nose and sing songs. It sounds insane, but they're all really close as adults so it obviously wasn't detrimental.

[–]green072410 8 points9 points ago

Can you imagine trying to solve problems like that as an adult, though? I'd die laughing to see it:

"Okay, come here fucking asshole! We're going to put our noses together and sing a damn song til we get this resolved!"

"...What the actual fuck?"

[–]ProbablyNotLying 1 point2 points ago

Works for some people, not for everyone. Forcing siblings together like that can be disastrous, but there are always exceptions. Knowing your kids and knowing how to punish them is an important part of parenting.

[–]hillbillyar 0 points1 point ago

I have two sons, and have never had to use this tactic, but a friend of mine with two grown sons said they used it more than once when they would fight. Worked every time. I guess I'm lucky, my sons are 6 years apart and don't fight very often.

[–]MuggyFuzzball 2 points3 points ago

OP never said it was his picture.

[–]formerlylurkinlurker 1 point2 points ago

I know, I never said it was, either. I said it wasn't. ahh, my mistake. I reread the title. Thanks for the correction.

[–]MuggyFuzzball -1 points0 points ago

Don't be ashamed, although you were wrong, OP did repost the picture only hours after the original was posted. "Damnit OP" still applies.

[–]pandemic1444 0 points1 point ago

Get it together, man!

[–]meangrampa 0 points1 point ago

She sure looks pissed, her brother is getting beat later.

[–]PiggyPork 0 points1 point ago

I have to agree. Back when I was a kid my brother and I loved to fight with each other. It was crazy, like cage fights. Putting us in a shirt like would likely be the end of the shirt.

[–]Haven 0 points1 point ago

Mom of 3 sons here, gotta say I disagree! I make my kids hug each other while looking each other in the eye until they are happy again. 90% of the time the end up laughing and rolling around on the floor. Yeah, it comes to almost blows every once in a while, but this method works for me!

[–]ProbablyNotLying 0 points1 point ago

Like I said in reply to a different comment, it really depends on the kids. I do not think it would work for most kids, but there are exceptions to everything.

[–]GalaxyClass 22 points23 points ago

I put mine in the "Coat of Cooperation". After about 2 minutes they were walking around the campsite with laser tag pistols pretending to be a Badass Loader.

...probably shouldn't let them watch me play Borderlands.

[–]tfc324 20 points21 points ago

My boys would head butt each other to death inside of fifteen minutes in this thing

[–]ma7hatter 2 points3 points ago

This is what I thought. I'm more interested in keeping them alive, having them get along is less important.

[–]anchises868 0 points1 point ago

Just wait: That'll change. I wouldn't mind if the kids killed each other, I only ask that they do it in the front yard so (1) I don't have to clean blood out of the carpet, and (2) I don't have to drag their bloody corpses out to the curb.

[–]Fjolleprut 87 points88 points ago

I love the look on big sisters face: I. hate. this.

[–]funktion 24 points25 points ago

it seems more like the usual "kill me now" look teenagers always have

[–]MrTurkle 19 points20 points ago

Except she looks to be about 11. That one is a payback child.

[–]MamaGrr 10 points11 points ago

My daughter has had this look down since she was about 4. She's 6 now and I have no idea how I'm going to handle the teen years as she already acts like a hormonal teenager. Maybe she's getting it out now and will be a perfect teen.. Ha... :\

[–]MrTurkle 9 points10 points ago

You. Are. Screwed! Best of luck to you with that one.

[–]MamaGrr 4 points5 points ago

Yeah, that's pretty much the same conclusion I've come up with. Thanks, I think.

[–]Hysterium 5 points6 points ago

My little sister was like this. Pissed and moaned and screamed at my whole family every day and night. She got over it! When she got into her twenties!

You're so screwed.

[–]iLLusive240 -1 points0 points ago

Please lord if I ever have a kid which I really hope doesn't happen as well please please please don't let it be a girl also I probably shouldn't have children according to Reddit because my grammer is bad and I didn't go to college but you know what Reddit here's the kicker. . Your mom goes to college. HOLD THAT

[–]IronLung420 0 points1 point ago

My 10 year old sister acts like her 18 year old brother (me) I pity my parents.

[–]Frankeh 1 point2 points ago

My sister was one of them. You're fucked.

She's just about out of that stage now but it took her 30th birthday and having a kid.

[–]loofahbob 2 points3 points ago

The karma will be epic. Her child will be just like her.

[–]Frankeh 1 point2 points ago

She had a boy thank fuck.

[–]mustar 2 points3 points ago

Big sis is not impressed.

[–]Stuewe 6 points7 points ago

As an older sibling, I COMPLETELY SYMPATHIZE WITH HER.

[–]AkemiDawn 5 points6 points ago

Yes, the boy is clearly the problem here.

[–]d3gr4D3 2 points3 points ago

she is not impressed at all

[–]brussels4breakfast 1 point2 points ago

She got revenge later.

[–]PROFESSIONAL_FART 164 points165 points ago

Wow, there's reposting and then there's you. This was posted about six hours before your submission. OP, you are a cunt.

[–]Wagadugu 24 points25 points ago

To be fair, the OP already (within the title) presents theirself as an idea thief.

[–]ani625 88 points89 points ago

[–]HeckYeahSummer 1 point2 points ago

Dale, get off reddit.

[–]ShadowAssassinQueef 1 point2 points ago

In all seriousness, I would be ok with this. I would love to be a Pokemon

[–]swordfishy 67 points68 points ago

[–]bureX 1 point2 points ago

Judging by the length of this GIF, can we expect an "OP is a faggot" movie in 3D in a year or so?

[–]GAFMisat0 6 points7 points ago

Well he did say he was stealing it.

[–]superbad 10 points11 points ago

Isn't that a crosspost instead of a repost?

[–]Freshenstein 1 point2 points ago

That's the way I was thinking, especially because I'm not subscribed to /r/pics

[–]MangekyoSharingan 16 points17 points ago

That's in a different subreddit though. There are people who are subscribed to r/funny not r/pics. How is that unacceptable?

[–]avree 1 point2 points ago

I don't get why you're being downvoted. I don't subscribe to /r/pics and would never have seen this.

[–]MangekyoSharingan 2 points3 points ago

I don't get it either, but it's not really about the upvotes, I'm just hoping that someone will think "Oh, I didn't think about it from that point of view"

I find it grossly unfair that people insult other people who post images from different subreddits for that exact reason that you've proven. Especially seeing that this is a content sharing website.

But in the end you can't fight the hivemind.

[–]Gangstasaurus_Rex -1 points0 points ago

OP should have specified that it was a crosspost.

[–]MangekyoSharingan -1 points0 points ago

They should have yes, but theres a polite way to tell them to do that.

[–]scooterpie1878 2 points3 points ago

I liked this post's title more.

[–]Blissrat 0 points1 point ago

He already is a parent. Thus, he stole the idea.

[–]Atheist_are_a_theory 0 points1 point ago

And he got the upvotes for it.

[–]TimetogetDownvoted -1 points0 points ago

OP didn't say these were her kids, OP said they were going to take the idea.

[–]heckicopter 0 points1 point ago

Is it impossible that two people saw the same picture outside of reddit? It seems that this picture has been around for a while. They weren't even in the same subreddit. It's not like the first person owns the picture, anyway.

[–]Polixo -2 points-1 points ago

Guess he must already be a parent...

[–]would_not_fuck -1 points0 points ago

A cunt with 1624+ karma. Seriously, it's just a repost. Cool your jets, Mr Fart.

[–]Ninjatree 5 points6 points ago

Supermodel offsprings?

[–]Billytown 4 points5 points ago

Thanks for the free birth control.

[–]arunnerswife 3 points4 points ago

Yeah....that's just asking for MORE problems. Bad idea.

[–]coilla 7 points8 points ago

Parent here and I agree with ProbablyNotLying, Don't do this. It will only end badly. I actually learned the best thing for my kids was the timer on the oven. When they were fighting over a toy, I would say ok, "child 1 gets the toy for 10 minutes and then child 2 gets the toy". Then we would go and set the timer on the oven....and usually they never even made it to 10 minutes before they switched anyways. When they aren't fighting over a toy, but just plain not getting long, they have quiet time reading books in their own beds, again with the oven timer. Works like a charm, or I got REALLY lucky

[–]GoLightLady 0 points1 point ago

Hmmm, ok, that sounds like would be a bit more effective. I'll keep yours in mind too. :)

[–]icutpuppies 7 points8 points ago

Shes cute

[–]Oldsport 8 points9 points ago

My father used to threaten us with this "I'm going to make you sit naked on your bed while holding hands." All tomfoolery stopped after the ultimatum.

[–]narwhalsass 16 points17 points ago

My father used to threaten us with "I'm going to use one of you to beat the other with". Man, I suddenly realized I come from a fucked up family.

[–]orthag 6 points7 points ago

Doesn't he realise childrenmake terrible weapons?

[–]shroomprinter 4 points5 points ago

Pretty effective if you hold them by the ankles and swing them like a sledgehammer.

[–]orthag 3 points4 points ago

Not really, they're too squishy.

[–]Sinnic 1 point2 points ago

You've got to wait until the baby fat goes away.

[–]narwhalsass 0 points1 point ago

As far as I know, he never tested it out. I think I need to have a word with him, it would be so much better to just do as my uncle, and threaten to punch our teeth up into our palates.

[–]ForIvadell 1 point2 points ago

Sounds normal to me!

[–]ProximaC 1 point2 points ago

did he ever actually do it? If he didn't then your family's not as fucked up as you make it sound.

[–]green072410 0 points1 point ago

I just pictured the croquet scene from the animated Alice in Wonderland, but with children, instead of flamingo-type birds...I think we might be related.

[–]orthag -1 points0 points ago

......your dad might have had problems......

[–]HiveMindReader 1 point2 points ago

That's not weird at all...

[–]Frankeh 3 points4 points ago

Silly and non sexual right up until the video camera comes out.

[–]Sinnic 1 point2 points ago

"SUPER HOT XXX KIDS SIT ON BED NAKED [48:32]"

[–]A7X4REVer 0 points1 point ago

Shit just got real.

[–]Sobertese 2 points3 points ago

Four Chinese finger traps on inside hands, duct tape oven mitts to outside hands.

Now play nice!

[–]fuck_happy_the_cow 3 points4 points ago

There will be blood.

[–]boogog 5 points6 points ago

I can see that backfiring horribly.

[–]ChokuRei 2 points3 points ago

as an adult, if I had a disagreement with someone the last thing I would want is someone forcing me to have that person all up in my personal bubble. I never understand why parents don't ask themselves more often if they'd be ok with someone doing this to them.

[–]skatingmichael 0 points1 point ago

thats when you learn

[–]ChokuRei 2 points3 points ago

learn what? you're parents are controlling assholes who don't respect your limits/boundaries/you as a person? It's just as stupid (and probably even more damaging to your child's trust in you) as the shaming signs.

[–]skatingmichael 0 points1 point ago

you have to be a special kid to not be able to handle being in the same shirt as your sister or brother, how awkward were you as a child?

[–]ChokuRei 2 points3 points ago

nope sorry, not "special" or awkward... since when did liking personal space and wanting to remove yourself from someone who is angering you make you awkward or retarded?

[–]skatingmichael -1 points0 points ago

its your own sister or brother and its a punishment, there should be nothing wrong with it

[–]ChokuRei 2 points3 points ago

I completely disagree

[–]dcviper 1 point2 points ago

When I was in the Navy, these two guys got into an argument that almost devolved into a fistfight right in CIC. The captain gave them two options: be liberty buddies in the next port or go to Captain's Mast. I thought it was brilliant.

[–]lololiver 5 points6 points ago

Much like how you stole the post from further up the page?

[–]ThatSpuds 1 point2 points ago

I'm not shitting at all when I say this: When I was young, if my sisters and I got into a fight, mom would take us into the garage and tie us together with a nylon rope and make us fight it out.

The worst part was the nylon rope. THIS SHIT gives friction burns like a muhfuh.

[–]sharpey95 0 points1 point ago

like this?

[–]ThatSpuds 0 points1 point ago

I didn't watch that because they also wanted me to watch an ad, but I assume it's during the "knife fight" scene. So, yeah, kinda. But we didn't get knives. If we had, this conversation would have been a lot shorter.

[–]Zeroman64 1 point2 points ago

My friends' dad made them hug for certain amounts of time whenever they fought.

[–]MamaGrr 0 points1 point ago

My dad make my brothers strip down to their shorts and hug in the front yard.

[–]le_blaireau 0 points1 point ago

My dad used to tie me and my sisters together and make us do chores when we weren't getting along

[–]Andrew66787 0 points1 point ago

The girl is thinking "kill me now"

[–]myeverymovment 1 point2 points ago

awesome. now i need a time machine to take me back about 12 years. when they're 17 and 15 they just hulk right the fuck out of it.

[–]ToxicKrusader 1 point2 points ago

Or it looks setup...like she wants to crack a smile

[–]fosher 0 points1 point ago

Forget that I am implementing this for my spouse!

[–]djsigma 0 points1 point ago

awwwwwwww

[–]Cashrunner 0 points1 point ago

Some how I saw those kids in their future years

[–]Smar_tass 0 points1 point ago

My parents played this game too. Except it was with a vacuum belt around our ankles.

[–]IronLung420 0 points1 point ago

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer.

[–]bob_borland 1 point2 points ago

I just make them hold hands in time out.

[–]k2natural 1 point2 points ago

You already did steal this idea, this was originally posted roughly a day or 2 ago

[–]roxzr 1 point2 points ago

Older sister does not look amused yet the little boy seems happy as can be. My guess the little boy was pestering and annoying his sister. So I do not see how this would be a resolution.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point ago

that poor girl

[–]green072410 0 points1 point ago

Mine would fight if I did this to them.

[–]Tuna29 0 points1 point ago

When me and my little sister wouldnt get along, we were once hand cuffed together for a whole day and when your 12 years old that days goes on and on and on.

[–]snarky_mcgee 0 points1 point ago

Oh man, this reminds me of my mom. When my brother and I used to argue she would make us sit on the couch and hold hands. It was so deviously effective! Once we were older (10 or so) she would assign us some ridiculously difficult chore but then let us go off and secretly whine about how unfair it was to each other, thus uniting us over a common "enemy." She almost never actually made us do that chore, just wanted us to quit arguing.

[–]howhee 0 points1 point ago

Not if I steal it first!

[–]zeroe8 0 points1 point ago

My mom did this to my brother and I when we were children, but with a rope instead of a shirt, lol

[–]thepinktulip1 0 points1 point ago

My mom used to make me and my brother hold eachother's ears until she deemed we were forgiven. It always worked because if I pinched his ears I'd get mine pinched back so we had to be kind to the other. Wooo.

[–]kloraseptix 0 points1 point ago

Those kids are sooo cute. I just want to hug them forever!

[–]elitistjerk 0 points1 point ago

Unimpressed daughter is unimpressed.

[–]hockeycrazy033 0 points1 point ago

"The Beat the Shit out of Each other Shirt"

[–]Elshar 0 points1 point ago

I'm a parent. Stealing it now.

[–]ahhhgodzilla 0 points1 point ago

This was way funnier when I saw it on Ellen Degeneres' FB page

[–]Youtenna -1 points0 points ago

How cruel.

[–]hpclone25 1 point2 points ago

This is stupid, you shouldn't attempt to force your kids to get along, they have to develop naturally to like each other else they will grow bitter towards each other later in life. Take it from a me, with 4 brother and 1 sister (ages range from 16 to 29), I don't talk to a single one of them anymore. The story is indeed a long and kinda depressing one, but let it be known trying to force your kids to get along will factually drive them away from one another.

[–]trinlayk 0 points1 point ago

The Oh-Dear-Lord-Please-Take-Me-Now face on big sis....

[–]randi1ruby 0 points1 point ago

My parents had a similar punishment but instead of a shirt we were loosely tied together in a hug lol. We usually ended up with bloody noses and goose eggs from head butting while argueing in that situation lol!! We definatly learned our lesson quickly with that particular punishment:)

[–]laughs_at_your_fail 0 points1 point ago

as the youngest sibling of 5, let me tell everyone why this is a bad idea for kids who don't get along.

"MOM! HE'S ON MY SIDE OF THE SHIRT AGAIN!" "MOM! SHE WON'T SHUT UP!" (Ensue hitting)

"OMG MOM! HE'S GOING TO WIPE HIS BOOGER ON ME! "SHE CALLED ME A DORK!"

etc etc... Kids who don't like each other, will not get along by forcing them to be together...

[–]Hippie-Witch 0 points1 point ago

a friend of mine makes her kids stand in the middle of the living room and hug for a full minute when they are fighting

[–]Mtfilmguy 0 points1 point ago

my parents use to make my sister and I hold hands and walk around the block. This kind of stuff does work

[–]BradOShizno 0 points1 point ago

Older brother here - If that little brother is anything like my little sister... this would just invite a WHOLE lot more problems... wait till one is 16 and the other is 12 (however far apart they are) - And you try and do this... oh shit...

[–]fiftiethcow 0 points1 point ago

In a non creepy way, your daughter is very beautiful. Seriously, please don't take it the wrong way.

[–]d0n0v4n98 0 points1 point ago

Poor op doesn't know that nothing should start with "When I become a parent..."

[–]RetasuKate 1 point2 points ago

My step dad once handcuffed me and my brother together.

[–]satanclauz 0 points1 point ago

I'm going to start with the shirt, but when that novelty wears off i'm going straight for the army surplus cuffs I forgot that I had until now!

[–]satanclauz 0 points1 point ago

oh. my. glob.

Thank you for this idea.

I have a 6 and 8yo and they argue/fight/tattle-tale on the other 90% of the time they are within speaking distance of one another.

I will try this, and i'm sure it will work at least one time.

[–]powertowse 0 points1 point ago

You already stole this idea and reposted it!

[–]Lolwutdafuq 0 points1 point ago

That's funny, my mom just handcuffed us to each other.

[–]djmarder -1 points0 points ago

Fantastic!

[–]clementyne 0 points1 point ago

OMG! I so need that. My kids are 7 and 11 and I am going to use that.

[–]thegreatgazoo 1 point2 points ago

Just get them a double fiddle. Problem solved.

[–]rewardplums -1 points0 points ago

Parent here. This is NOT a good idea. Imagine you are having a disagreement at work with a coworker and your boss puts you both in a similar shirt. How would you feel about your boss? That's how your kids will feel about you.

[–]Peaceandallthatjazz 1 point2 points ago

Sometimes being a crafty parent means playing the bad guy so the kids have a common enemy. It brings the kids closer together. So what if they dislike you for it, parents aren't meant to be buddies with their kids all the time.

[–]rewardplums 0 points1 point ago

I agree that parents are the kids' buddies. And sometimes you have to do things the child doesn't like. But doing it this way is disrespectful and doesn't really teach them anything other than someone bigger than them can make them do ridiculous stuff. You don't want your kids to hate you either.

[–]rude_awakening -1 points0 points ago

What a bad parenting move.

[–]Stirnlappenbasilisk -4 points-3 points ago

I´d like to see the girl on r/gonewild in ten years or so.

[–]green072410 0 points1 point ago

At least you said "in ten years or so"

[–]Stirnlappenbasilisk 1 point2 points ago

She has a pretty face and you can already tell that she will grow up to a beautifull woman. Now it's just a kid. Why do people always think the worst? Are so many bad people on the internet????

[–][deleted] ago

[deleted]

[–]Stirnlappenbasilisk 1 point2 points ago

IN TEN YEARS OR MORE!!! She will then be 19 or 20.

[–]MsHypothetical 0 points1 point ago

She's a kid and you're ALREADY sexualising her. Not cool, man.

[–]Stirnlappenbasilisk 0 points1 point ago

Ok i get it.
