For those of you wondering, those are huge chunks of steel wool that have been attached to the end of something, and lit on fire. Steel wool oxidizes really well if you twirl it through the air, leading to this.

Also, I have done it naked, and didn't burn myself, so... there's that.

Steel wool + paraffin (kerosene for the Leftpondians) in customised poi. They can get much bigger! Adding chemicals can radically alter the colours.

There's even a few subreddits that cater for this sort of thing, /r/poi, /r/firearts, and /r/firespin.

Still not remotely WTF though ...
