I'm not sure why people think an actor taking steroids is such a bad thing for movie roles. It can't be uncommon and I don't really see an issue as long as they're not in a real competition.

Okay I'm gonna throw this question out here, because I've only just started bodybuilding in the last few months and I still barely know anything about this sort of stuff, but is it possible to get this big without using steroids?

I mean, the diet I'm on at the minute is quite extreme and I've noticed massive changes in just a few months. My best friend is a bodybuilder who wants to be a future Mr. Olympia and he reckons that I can get to Rock's size in 4 or 5 years; however, when I mentioned to him that I read an interview where the Rock said he used steroids for about a month and then came off them because he didn't see any advantage, my friend also said that the month he spent on steroids will be the reason he's so big now.

Any bodybuilders or the like care to help me out here? I'd love to get to Rock's size because I already have the height and frame, and I personally think he's just on the brink of being too big but isn't quite there.

That's not a natural physique. Use this to calculate what you can get up too. After 2-5 years of solid training your FFMI should be at close to the max naturally which is 25.

Edit: Scratch the 2-5 years, should be 5+ years

Fat Free Mass Index is largely bullshit peddled by a few 'natural' guys to try and prove to the world how many drugs they totally didn't take.

There's no one constant which works for the entire worlds body. The Rock has taken entire pharmacies of illegal drugs and you will have to as well if you want to look like him

Pubmed study which states the limit is around 25. It's not gonna be exact, just a general guideline.

Obviously Rock is on steroids and probably every top "natural" bodybuilder (especially the Heavyweights) is as well, no one's arguing that.

Pretty sure his substance abuse was more than just good ol' 'roids.

Throughout his career, Guerrero encountered various substance abuse problems outside of wrestling, including alcoholism and an addiction to painkillers.

Okay, risky question because I really don't want to take steroids but... I'm teetotal and otherwise drug free. If I started taking steroids, I'd be less at risk of going the way of Eddie, right? But wouldn't my chances of living long be damaged anyway? I remember reading somewhere that steroids damage the left ventricle of your heart.

Remember, the Rock has a team of physicians and personal trainers to help him. Most people do steroids in cycles, meaning they go on them for a bit and then go off, allowing their body to recover. He has taken reasonably good care of himself over the years, taking frequent breaks from movies and wrestling to cycle off of them and has never had any serious pain killer addictions.
