He hasn't won an EVO tournament in a while now, and I'm wondering if he's peaked. That or maybe the competition has just improved THAT much in the time between 2004 to now.

                                                                        I love that "not winning Evo" is considered losing touch even though he's constantly in top 8. Competition has definitely gotten much stronger. Fact is he's playing Ryu who just isn't a top 3/5 character anymore. Fei/Yun ran AE last year, and his Yun just wasn't good enough. Now it's Cammy/Fei/Seth/Akuma and maybe Viper, but he's still running with Ryu. He's just naturally at a disadvantage in a lot of those matchups now. He was ahead of the game when he was dominating SFIV, but the world has caught up.

                                                                        Yeah, I know what you mean. Daigo's still got the extra rock-solid fundamentals, crisp execution, and insane reads and reactions that he's known for (not to mention boatloads of tournament experience), but it feels to me like he hasn't quite kept up with the new SF4 installments since Super. Still, he consistently places or at least makes top 8 pretty much anywhere he goes.

                                                                        And yes, I think the competition has improved by a lot in the "fighting game renaissance" of the last 2-3 years. Old pros from other games are moving to Street Fighter (like Fuudo, 2011 EVO champ) and we can probably expect to see more online warrior wunderkinds like Poongko or Latif start to surface.

                                                                        The thing about SF2012 is that it really rewards vortex characters. Daigo digs on the SF poster boy of Ryu (and sometimes Ken). Neither have vortex options. Pure footsie characters like Chun, Balrog, Guile, or Sagat have been pushed aside for characters that just push lots of buttons like Cammy, Ibuki, Akuma, or Seth.

                                                                        FilipinoChamp had a rant on this not too long ago. He compared it to Marvel 3, and I don't think that it was too much hyperbole. I see lots of players just going in and keep throwing out moves. As soon as one hits, they go into training mode and go for a long combo. On the reverse, I'll see players mash out a DP while they're stuck in a block string just hoping that the other player will miss a link.

                                                                                I've been doing martial arts for more than half my life and I have a couple of black belts from different schools. My boyfriend also has a black belt, but doesn't practice anymore. My aunt recently got her "black belt equivalent" in the US Marines form of martial arts (sorry I don't know the details).

                                                                                                Wrong posture. If you wanted to make it authentic, Chun-Li should have used the posture for mawashi geri. (Roundhouse kick.)

                                                                                                As it stands now, that kick would have been entirely ineffective. Mae geri is not usually done that high, and is usually aimed for the gut or for the chest. (The grounded foot is also poorly positioned for mae geri anyway.)

                                                                                                She's pretty flexible. It takes a lot of work and flexibility to get that position so wrong, though, funnily enough.
