No one can ever know my secret

First girl he meets knows his secret.

[–]beatski 2 points3 points ago

who is it?

[–]BinaryRunt 4 points5 points ago

Spider-man, from the newest movie.

[–]epraider 0 points1 point ago

Not to mention he took off his mask and identified himself on national television for the Superhuman Registration Act...

[–]badteddy81 79 points80 points ago

so that's why they blew up his house in the trailer. because they knew where he lives.

[–]TheDoktorIsIn 53 points54 points ago

He's got like, 8 more.

[–]rreyv 5 points6 points ago

Grammatical question: Is that comma needed?

[–]Impolite_tuna 8 points9 points ago

Not at all. It's not needed at all:)

[–]frazzlejews 6 points7 points ago

That wasn't very impolite.

[–]cmatt010 3 points4 points ago

Hey, if the man wants, he can put commas, got it?

[–]TheDoktorIsIn 3 points4 points ago

Not really. I put it to separate the "like" and the "8," it's a rule that can go both ways.

"He's got like 8 more" vs "He's got like, 8 more" When you're reading it, you pause for a moment in between the "like" and the "8," so it's more for speaking as opposed to reading.

Heh... both ways...

[–]Andrewpruka 1 point2 points ago

It puts a space in between "like" and "8" when reading. I assume that's what Doktor was going for. so yes, smart ass.

[–]Bobojobaxter -2 points-1 points ago

Correct, its the word "like" and the comma that isn't needed, if you replace got with has and take out the 's as well.

[–]icanhazbeer 1 point2 points ago

I bet now they wish they had said nothing at all

[–]Dart06 -5 points-4 points ago

I almost died of laughter reading this.

[–]rreyv 8 points9 points ago

RIP Dart06.

[–]jackcatalyst 6 points7 points ago

"Almost". Currently he is in the hospital about to undergo surgery. There will be more updates about his condition as soon as the information is available.

[–]bestfomert -1 points0 points ago

As a surgeon I can confirm this, I am about to cut his flesh.

[–]RedBirdinTX 16 points17 points ago

I think it's amazing what the iron man movies plus Robert Downey jr have done for that character. I remember Iron Man being quite a bland dick for a long time.

[–]iamadogforreal 17 points18 points ago

Actually, the Iron Man comics tried real hard to round out the character so that he wouldn't be the overconfident dick we see in the movies. If anything, he's more dickish than ever, but apparently you like dick. No judgement here, just stating the facts.

[–]Bobojobaxter 5 points6 points ago

I think the point was he isn't a bland dick, now he is an interesting social dick.

[–]iamadogforreal 1 point2 points ago

He wasn't bland before, he was a complex character that struggled with his addiction, his life as iron man, and running a competitive business. Now he's an amusing quip machine with almost no real human emotions or struggles. He was so cartooney that had to purposely put in that scene with cap to "humanize" him a bit.

[–]Bobojobaxter 0 points1 point ago

I wasn't passing judgement on Iron Man, I was merely trying to decipher the above poster's comment. :)

[–]Faithhandler 15 points16 points ago

It took years for Iron Man to reveal his identity in the comics. Like, decades, even. He used to pretend that the Iron Man was his body guard.

[–]thatoneguy889 7 points8 points ago

Yeah. Didn't he not reveal his identity (most recently) until he came out in support of the Superhuman Registration Act and convinced Peter to do the same?

[–]Poop_On_Your_Chest 2 points3 points ago

Stop reminding me of that horrible event

[–]Faithhandler 0 points1 point ago

It predates Civil War by about four years. He revealed his identity shortly before he accepted an appointment as the Secretary of Defense for the US government back in 2002.

[–]thatoneguy889 2 points3 points ago

Okay, I wasn't sure. I just remember the big press conference he has where the two automated suits land next to him and the other one where Peter revealed his identity.

[–]Faithhandler 0 points1 point ago

Oh sure, no worries. Comics have long histories, no one should really expect everyone to know the exact details about when what happened. :P Shit has a lot of history, it's easy to condense it. I do it all the time

[–]LbaB 3 points4 points ago

Saddens me that this is so far down on Reddit. I was expecting the top comment to be "Pshhh, that's the movies."

[–]Paradoxius 8 points9 points ago

Fun fact: in the Marvel universe two armies literally fight to the death about secret identities. One is lead by Tony "I am Iron Man" Stark here, the other by Captain America, because freedom.

[–]stevethecow 2 points3 points ago

Captain emerita doesn't even really have a secret identity..... He is always captain America....

[–]Paradoxius 4 points5 points ago

Well, his identity as Steve Rodgers was released publicly after WWII, so he was out when he was with the Avengers, but he still wanted to protect the rights of other super humans. Because freedom. Because America.

[–]erwinr 7 points8 points ago

Patrick Bateman doesn't wear a mask...

[–]GodspeakerVortka 13 points14 points ago

Sure he does. He applies an herb-mint facial mask which he leaves on for 10 minutes while he prepares the rest of his routine.

Also a mask of sanity, which is slipping.

[–]MightyMorph 13 points14 points ago

I like them all, but yeah Tony Stark is just a don't give a fuck cool dude.

Also really looking forward to the new Superman Movie. Man of Steel. The teaser looks frikkin awesome.

[–]Ninjanovio117 2 points3 points ago

Russel fucking Crowe, man. Russel fucking Crowe.

[–]Phocks7 0 points1 point ago

Dat LOTR music

[–]SmokinSickStylish 0 points1 point ago

If they had cast Tom Welling in that, I would have bought 3 tickets just for myself.

[–]MightyMorph 2 points3 points ago

Sorry but no, tom welling never played the role of superman as it was intended. And he would definitely not fit the more mature role that is needed for the current movie.

[–]SmokinSickStylish 1 point2 points ago

No need to apologize for having your own opinion, I'd still love to see Tom Welling go forward, and that's not gonna change, but it was good to hear your side and I can see where you are coming from. Have a good one.

[–]GeneralJPatts 7 points8 points ago

The reason batman wears a mask in the Christopher Nolan series is to make the point that batman could be anyone (vice versa, anyone can be batman).

[–]pt4117 12 points13 points ago

Yeah, anyone with millions to spend on tank mobiles that shoot motorcycles, crazy ass flight suits and r&d to hack every phone in the city.

[–]Vollinger 1 point2 points ago

Exactly! This man gets it! Anyone can buy a batchopper!

What is the purpose of this post? To show the world that this person reposted something? It's still funny as hell, judging by the amount of upvotes it has received. This post is meaningless......... :/

[–]gw4now 10 points11 points ago

I vastly prefer it over the posts of people saying, "REPOST, I've seen this before like x months/days/years ago." Why? Because when they do it they are seeking validation for their vast knowledge of reddit posts, which I find kind of stupid and meaningless. The bot is emotionless and has no reason for posting the useful information, aside from informing people about the past similar posts. Why is it useful? Well I for one find it fascinating seeing how the reposts succeed or fail based on the various factors that make a post a success or front page material. And the repost bot posting deters idiots from screaming REPOST THE END IS NIE!!! Which I'm sure you will agree is a glorious thing.

[–]Vanguard86 2 points3 points ago

I agree with that screaming idiots are screaming idiots. I just don't feel like it's necessary in general, politely or screaming, blithering idiots. Again, without necessarily insulting you(which I generally try not to anyway), the idiots who scream, "THIS IS THE CANCER KILLING REDDITS", are part of a circlejerking group I have little to no respect for. You have politely rebuffed me as such, you I do not consider you part of said group.

[–]SargeMacLethal[S] 0 points1 point ago

OP here, sorry mate, I didn't know it was a repost, I just found it on my iPod.

[–]velvetreligion 0 points1 point ago

to see all the other comments for this post.

[–]Spiritjump -1 points0 points ago

The main purpose of my karmadecay posts is making OP look and/or feel like a massive wanker. And to possibly lose him a little bit of undeserved link karma, but I doubt I make much difference on this front.

One factor which absolutely ISN'T a reason though is that karmadecay posts which are >5 rows long generally gather a little pile of comment karma for myself. :D

Karmadecay is also a much more efficient way of complaining about reposts than just going 'repost'. gw4now puts what I'm trying to say very well indeed.

[–]Vanguard86 0 points1 point ago

Fair enough, it just feels like, and this is said without meant to be overly insulting, you might be the wanker here. It's kind of like the kid we all hated in school for telling the teacher that she forgot to assign homework and for somewhat nonsensical stuff. What is the harm in an individual posting what he's posting especially when it's funny. It's not like you could have searched this image out of reddit(lousy search engine, really) and known it was a repost. For him, he may have saw it and thought, "Wow, this is some funny stuff, the world must know about this"(or somewhere along those lines). Calling him out on it seems very petulant, as if he doesn't deserve the karma for finding something across the interwebs and feels like people would enjoy it. I didn't get to see all the other posts that you put up, I saw this one and was humored and gave him an upvote. Again, I'm not trying to insult you here, I just think that the post was unnecessary and perhaps a bit petulant.

TL;DR So what if it's a repost, OP meant to show stuff he found funny and I found it funny, stop calling people out on nonsense. He may not have realized it was a repost.

[–]Spiritjump 2 points3 points ago

Dw man, one man's freedomfighter-saint-championofreposts-awesomeguy is another's wanker. We all have opinions.

I'm not saying OP's a wanker, but if he feels like one for being caught out reposting, he'll be less likely to do it again (and more likely to check karmadecay first) in future, no?

And there's no harm in reposts, it's simply annoying when you click something and you've seen it before. Less reposts=better r/funny.

Thanks you for the paragraph response though, I'm honoured. :)

[–]Vanguard86 0 points1 point ago

Hey, no reason to let it degrade to Neanderthal status, we all have a part in keeping reddit civil. With that thought in mind, I understand why you do what you do, I simply disagree with it. Fare thee well til our next comments/posts cross again.

Edit: Oh and have an upvote good sir.

[–]Spiritjump 1 point2 points ago

You too mate, and likewise.

[–]soupy37 0 points1 point ago

[–]Spiritjump 0 points1 point ago

You're the best. Good day.

[–]Buddhainhair 11 points12 points ago

Who's the third guy?

[–]DaRealAB 28 points29 points ago

Spiderman

[–]TKJ 10 points11 points ago

He's Jewish now?

[–]Skaman007 -2 points-1 points ago

HAHAHAHAHAHHH Nice.

[–]Cseal 4 points5 points ago

Thank you.

[–]Buddhainhair 7 points8 points ago

Thank you!

[–]Nogardeci -1 points0 points ago

I'd like to know that as well.

[–]DouglasDC 0 points1 point ago

In case you didn't come back to read the comments, that is Spiderman.

[–]Lopsidedbuilder 3 points4 points ago

Question about Stark revealing his identity: at the end of the Avengers (minor spoiler?) when NYC is ruined the news is showing footage of the destruction and the reporter is talking about how the Avengers should help clean up the mess, but they have disappeared and the people want the Avengers to come forward after "ruining" NYC. Why can't they at least find RDJ/Iron Man? He's a multi-billionaire and the owner of a massive technological company. Did I miss something or is this an oversight on the behalf of the writers?

[–]lilrabbit129 2 points3 points ago

I think they were talking more about the other members. In Iron Man 2 they tried to get the suit away from Tony and he basically said F*ck you. I'm pretty sure he has enough lawyers to tie it up in court for a while.

Not to mention he has the War machine suit "on loan" to the Air Force. They probably consider Iron Man "exempt".

[–]redeys25 0 points1 point ago

[IRON MAN SPOILERS]Actually, Tony has no obligations with the company as he designated Potts to be CEO.

[–]lilrabbit129 0 points1 point ago

But I remember somewhere in the middle when she was having her breakdown that she gave the CEO-ship back? Maybe I misunderstood it. Plus in Avengers, he very much seemed to still be in command.

[–]1Down 0 points1 point ago

Yeah once Tony fixed his arc reactor and stopped dying he took control of the company back.

[–]brownmagician 0 points1 point ago

Armored spiderman was exactly like Ironman too...

[–]CodenameVonDoom 0 points1 point ago

Well, the press has cornered me on the issue...so, fuck you I'm Iron Man!

[–]boxfooter 0 points1 point ago

Don't know why, but i laughed so hard.

[–]CountOtis 0 points1 point ago

I have to return some video tapes.

[–]lurkinglikeabauce 0 points1 point ago

And we all know what good that is doing him from the iron man 3 trailer

[–]snehituralu 0 points1 point ago

So, that probably means that your insecurities require an extra dose of external validation. Being amazing isn't enough, you require the laurels of public recognition for personal satisfaction. No insult intended; this is how it is for most of us (to one degree, more or less).

[–]aheadwarp9 0 points1 point ago

and because Robert Downy Jr...

[–]monkeypickle 0 points1 point ago

The reason he's your favorite is also the reason that most folks around him end up dead, injured, or severely fucked up. Selfish Stark is selfish as fuck.

[–]willstone 1 point2 points ago

Reason he's my favorite: he's Robert fucking Downey Jr.

[–]toomanytries 0 points1 point ago

weird that we celebrate ironman's character flaw.

all the others are amply able to defend themselves whenever/whereever. they wear mask to keep people around them safe, not cause they're scared.

Ironman is just tryna be a pimp. he's pretty good at it though

[–]swishasweets1323 0 points1 point ago

repost faggot

[–]twright2911 0 points1 point ago

Fuck you, I'm repost

[–]randymccolm 0 points1 point ago

why do i continue to upvote this, i have upvoted this same post at least 5 times now but i dont give a fuck

[–]frankyboy4my 0 points1 point ago

Reddit-9gag-reddit

[–]_ynot_ 1 point2 points ago

In the original comics it takes a while for him to reveal himself.

[–]thewarehouse 0 points1 point ago

That's why those around him are always in danger, the cocky bastard. Plus he was a bajillionaire genius weapons developer before he became Iron Man - not an unknown element that had a chance to adopt his persona before going public. (Obviously Wayne was a bajillionaire public figure, but he was seen as a dopey playboy, not a chiroptologist)

[–]centauriproxima 0 points1 point ago

Clark Kent - it's more to protect his sanity than anything else, (Also Lois, Jimmy and the gang)

Bruce Wayne - because "Batman" is more powerful as a symbol than as a man

Peter Parker - the dude's got a family to protect (not that he does a good job of doing that)

Tony Stark - he's a rich playboy douche with laser guns, why even bother?

[–]UnDakotable 0 points1 point ago

I'll pretend I've never seen this before.

[–]yesukai 0 points1 point ago

Technologically capable of defending himself and without any family to worry about. Easy choice to grab the glory.

[–]apennismightier 0 points1 point ago

How many more people are going to repost this?

[–]MyGoodSir55 0 points1 point ago

This will now be new catch phrase in order to win a losing argument which will be followed by me storming off.

[–]MrDaddy -1 points0 points ago

You're wrong. Follow these easy steps to correct your mistake:

  1. Go read an actual comic book.

  2. Find out what the Super Hero Registration Act is and what stark got up to during the civil war.

  3. Fuck you and fuck Iron Man.

[–]thehamburgerburgler -2 points-1 points ago

Yikes ... You used the new spiderman :(

[–]Nyarlathotep124 11 points12 points ago

Better than the whiny emo kid spiderman we had for the last few movies.

[–]IndexObject 30 points31 points ago

I happen to think it's much better than the previous iterations, much truer to the comics, and much more fun to watch.

[–]MightyMorph 12 points13 points ago

Garfield IS Spiderman in my opinion. He played the role like it is supposed to be played. The whole movie was great, they really did an awesome job at rebooting the series. The interaction and chemistry between Emma Stone and Garfield was great. And also this is the introduction movie in the many movies to come, next one is going to have some great moments from what we have learned so far and from people who know the comic books. I really like this new direction they are going with and i hope they keep at it.

Toby Maguire, no disrespect to him as a person, but he was abysmal in playing spiderman. He portrayed him as a emo wreck that had no sense of humor, and by god the awful shitstorm they called spiderman 3 was just beyond horrific. I was minutes away from throwing my remote at the screen. And kirsten dunst was unfortunately just a wrong cast choice for mary jane, she had the same look of utter unattraction and indifference during all the movies.

Overall for me personally, Garfield is Spiderman.

[–]namegoeswhere 3 points4 points ago

Spiderman 3 was worth it for me for the laughs. I thoroughly enjoyed the dance number in the diner. It nearly had me on the floor, I was laughing so hard.

[–]jax7246 2 points3 points ago

Lots of disrespect to Toby. He's just not a good actor. Also the Garfield movie pillowed the comics more.

[–]lilrabbit129 1 point2 points ago

Kirsten Dunst hast that look in EVERY movie she's in. I couldn't stand her in any of the Spiderman movies. Maggie Gyllenhall did something similar in The Dark Knight, but she had a bit more emotion.

[–]txgirl09 0 points1 point ago

Agreed. And it doesn't hurt that he and Emma are both just stunning...and it probably helped their on-screen chemistry to be dating.

[–]Axylz -5 points-4 points ago

I was wondering who the third guy was, thanks. I'll continue to avoid that movie.

[–]khusromir 1 point2 points ago

Seriously, don't avoid it. It's a really good film. I was an impressionable youngster when I watched the first Spider-man film, and it really put me of Spider-man. The Amazing Spider-man actually sparked my interest in him, it makes Peter a much cooler character and it has a really interesting back-story behind it.

[–]Sonums 1 point2 points ago

I laughed the first time. However, please do search for similar posts before submitting >_>

[–]JackLegg -2 points-1 points ago

I posted this exact picture 2 months ago and got downvoted to oblivion. Fuck you reddit :(

[–]Iamadinocopter -3 points-2 points ago

He's going to get assassinated. what a moron.

He's only still alive because the writers get money, not because any of his shit makes sense.

[–]herenseti 2 points3 points ago

Does any of this shit makes sense? Superman is an alien with ridiculous super powers, whose only weakness is a fictional substance. Spiderman got bitten by a spider and practically became one. Batman is an incredibly rich ninja with a vigilante complex. Iron man makes the most sense out of any of them.

[–]supercore23 3 points4 points ago

Superman's real weakness is that he cares about people.

[–]drossglop -5 points-4 points ago

Spidey could kick iron man's ass.

[–]SmokinSickStylish 3 points4 points ago

Are you sure about that? By what means?

[–]drossglop -1 points0 points ago

I am sure. All he needs is his Spidey sense.

[–]SmokinSickStylish 0 points1 point ago

That would probably save him from being killed easily, but wouldn't make him able to defeat Iron Man. What if Iron Man shot enough mini-missiles that there was no good dodge or out available, then the spidey-sense would do nothing but notify him of how much pain he is about to be in.

It could be argued that he could use his web to change trajectory of a missile, etc. However, that would still eat time that would be needed to dodge the others. If one hit him, well, he doesn't have the bounce-back of wolverine, that's for sure.

[–]drossglop 0 points1 point ago

Spidey's villains are way smarter than iron man and have better suits. I know there is an iron man movie out so everyone is in his asshole, but Spidey will always be the best. He is too smart for iron man.

[–]WarJunkie 1 point2 points ago

Actually, both did fight in the Civil war comics.

Iron man won.

[–]drossglop 0 points1 point ago

I remember reading that and he only won after coming back with an anti-spidey sense weapon. Spidey kicked his ass bad before that.

[–]J05huaWa15h -4 points-3 points ago
