          Yeah I am guessing that is just an ideal place to lay down. Perhaps the gravestone was cooler or hotter than the current temperature outside at the time and this made it a good place for the dog to lay. The dog, even with a great sense of smell.. would not be able to tell that was his owner underneath him. The person is buried in the ground in a sealed coffin with a giant slab of stone on top.

                            Dogs are the most loyal workers. Their job is to be the owners friend, they do the job but expect to be paid.
