Rules

  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

  6. No animated images. Please submit them to /r/gif, /r/gifs, or /r/reactiongifs instead.

  • If your submission appears to be filtered but definitely meets the above rules, please send us a message with a link to the comments section of your post (not a direct link to the image). Don't delete it as that just makes the filter hate you!

  • If you come across any rule violations, please report the submission or message the mods and one of us will remove it!

Please also try to come up with original post titles. Submissions that use certain clichés/memes will be automatically tagged with a warning.

And in a couple of days it will look like the original picture again. I love Boulder, but it really does have some crazy weather

[–]Fucks_papercups 3 points4 points ago

[–]KneeSeekingArrow 0 points1 point ago

Welcome to Colorado.

[–]encrypter8 0 points1 point ago

Right now it looks in between those two photos

[–]PastyNoob 12 points13 points ago

[–]jetryan 16 points17 points ago

Colorado. the most beautiful place on earth.

[–]tormentosarosa 2 points3 points ago

And Boulder, a lovely little town surrounded by reality.

[–]NotSambo 4 points5 points ago

And hippies. Dirty, dirty hippies.

[–]IsTowel 1 point2 points ago

I grew up in boulder and now live in San Francisco. The hippies here are so much dirtier and shit on the street. I miss boulder hippies.

[–]Coopster80 1 point2 points ago

It's also the set of the movie Misery!

[–]Arxl 0 points1 point ago

When it isn't on fire.

[–]FirstOne617 13 points14 points ago

Oh hey look, you can spot the Buffaloes' defense in the foreground there!

[–]iheartfirefly 9 points10 points ago

I love Boulder (for reasons made obvious in the photo) but I really, really wish it had more oxygen.

[–]byegone1 7 points8 points ago

One of Boulder's finest qualities is its proximity to even higher elevations.

[–]dragonite_life 2 points3 points ago

Boarding.

[–]Dr451 10 points11 points ago

Your body naturally adjusts to the lower O2 concentration by elevating levels of 2,3-BPG. This increases O2 delivery to organs by decreasing the affinity of O2 to hemoglobin. Thus forcing a higher percentage of O2 to dissociate from hemoglobin than would have occurred and bringing your cells back to normal O2 concentrations. Takes about a week to fully set in, so make sure to drink heavily so you can get smashed off of four beers!

Some people have medical conditions doncha know

[–]Dr451 4 points5 points ago

True dat. Just a common misconception people have about always not being able to breathe up here.

[–]Douche_Gunderson 10 points11 points ago

As a college student here, this place kicks ass

[–]KneeSeekingArrow 2 points3 points ago

Too bad the student are dicks.

[–]ToInfinityThenStop 3 points4 points ago

That's bigger than a boulder.

[–]dragonite_life 0 points1 point ago

They're called the boulder flatirons and they're much larger than they appear in this picture (although not truly monstrous). They're crisscrossed with trails that reach vistas overlooking the expanse of the city. I've never hiked one and not found a photographer at the end of the trail.

[–]HeadrushReaper 3 points4 points ago

Stephen King lived here for a while and at least two of his books are set here.

[–]NotSambo 0 points1 point ago

I thought all of his books were set in Derry, Maine? Which two books? I'd like to read them.

[–]OrangeCityDutch 2 points3 points ago

The Shining was set at the Stanley hotel in Estes Park, CO and the good people in The Stand gathered in Boulder. I'm not a big King fan so there may be others, but IIRC from reading Nightmares and Dreamscapes the stories take place all over.

[–]NotSambo 0 points1 point ago

Ok, thanks.

[–]HeadrushReaper 0 points1 point ago

Misery, The Shining, and The Stand are all set in Boulder.

[–]KelseyLeila 1 point2 points ago

20-30 minute drive from my house and I'm hiking around these guys. Life is good in Colorado.

[–]superman4545 0 points1 point ago

5-10 minute walk and I'm hiking around these guys.

[–]Feylin 3 points4 points ago

Another pic of the same mountains in the winter (in wallpaper size too)

[–]jgreene970 7 points8 points ago

[–]DrTom 3 points4 points ago

Hey, me too!

[–]encrypter8 -1 points0 points ago

<-- 30th between Colorado and Arapahoe!

[–]UsernameUsername1212 0 points1 point ago

me three!

[–]log_asm 4 points5 points ago

I looked at that everyday in high school.

[–]superman4545 1 point2 points ago

I'm going to assume you went to fairview

[–]log_asm 1 point2 points ago

You assume correctly.

[–]IsTowel 0 points1 point ago

'09 get wet

[–]waywithwords 2 points3 points ago

The Flatirons. I've got a pic from a hike there that looks very much like this one.

[–]brcl5668 2 points3 points ago

I get to see that view every single day. CU is one of the only places where the pictures you see online don't do the campus justice.

[–]Aswas 0 points1 point ago

Boulder sucks now. It use to be a great place before the mid-eighties. Now you have all those plastic people living there.

Last time I went to the Pearl Street Mall I didn't even recognize it. It use to have a homey feel to it. Now it's all New Yorkers and Californian transplants. Ugh.

You can smell the factitiousness

[–]kazuma_k 5 points6 points ago

I've lived here too for many, many years, and still do live here, but this city's inhabitants suffer from what many of us call the "boulder bubble."

[–]dragonite_life 3 points4 points ago

Ha. I live in broomfield, so I get all the greatness of boulder without catching the disease.

[–]effinboy 0 points1 point ago

Tru dat. I can goto Boulder Dinner Theater one night, and shop at the Walmart on 120th/Sheridan the next, all without feeling guilty and saving some money!

[–]coloRADoEm 1 point2 points ago

The city's inhabitants are also plagued with a case of "implants" (from CA & TX).. I would guess 20% of Boulder are natives anymore. Love the town, not the people. And i promise I'm not saying this because I'm a FoCo native ;)

[–]eigervector 1 point2 points ago

I climbed the one on the right - it is a beautiful area.

[–]rocketparrotlet 0 points1 point ago

I'd love to climb on the flatirons.

[–]retro_v 1 point2 points ago

You can sort of drive up them, there is also a really good restaurant half way up. Though the drive there is slightly steep.

[–]haplo_and_dogs 0 points1 point ago

Not right now, it's covered in snow.

[–]firevice 1 point2 points ago

I absolutely love seeing these flatirons every morning on my way to class. Boulder truly is one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen.

[–]SitnaltaPhix 1 point2 points ago

That's Chautauqua park and the Flatirons. Good place to hike!

[–]disguysname 0 points1 point ago

i bet if you posted a pic of boulder on /r/trees it would get more karma.

[–]wondergoatxl 1 point2 points ago

Twist: that's all weed.

[–]RyanTheTachyon 0 points1 point ago

I was there in June. I want to go back.

[–]Hascalod 0 points1 point ago

That's awesome.

[–]UsernameUsername1212 0 points1 point ago

right now boulder/foothills are covered in snow...

[–]TheoQ99 0 points1 point ago

I have a sticker on my car that I bought used that says Boulder Volvo with the outline of this. I live in california and have never been to colorado, it was one of the previous owners that lived there. Kinda interesting to know it looks like this, and not more traditional mountains like I had thought.

[–]might_not_get_it 1 point2 points ago

you forgot the photos of all the homeless on pearl st and all the yuppies ignoring them while talking with each other about doing more for the common good.

just kidding.

well, kind of kidding.

[–]jbosse 0 points1 point ago

i live in Longmont but i do go to Boulder quite often just to walk down Pearl street with some friends for the lols

[–]ndanick 0 points1 point ago

Don't know what else I expected.

[–]winesti 1 point2 points ago

Say hi to Michael and Holly for me.

[–]DVagabond 0 points1 point ago

Y'know, I used to live about ... oh ... 200 feet or so from where this picture was taken.

It's pretty great having this view every time you look out a window.

[–]digitalchris 0 points1 point ago

I assume each one of those peaks is the roof of a marijuana dispensary.

[–]stayzuplate 0 points1 point ago

Actually that would be the Flatirons. Boulder is the town behind you.

[–]JakeSanchard 0 points1 point ago

I'd love to play frisbee with my dog here.I'd love to have a dog

[–]Blizake24 -1 points0 points ago

[–]Jakobud -1 points0 points ago

I love Boulder but I hate all the rich hippie dippie people that live there.

[–]glitle -2 points-1 points ago

Just visited that area, love it just don't like the people!

[–]RedditAvalanche 0 points1 point ago

Same I live about a half hour south and only go to Boulder for the climbing gyms.

[–]thebigfooty 1 point2 points ago

Maybe you just havent met the locals. good folks

[–]EasilyUsed 0 points1 point ago

some boulderites are cool, others are whacked out yuppies

[–]glitle -2 points-1 points ago

ya some of the hippies are a little much!

[–]PezXCore 0 points1 point ago

I almost died on the one in the middle

[–]superman4545 3 points4 points ago

Were you the guy who climbed up while on shrooms and had to be rescued?

[–]ottajon[!] 0 points1 point ago

The real boulder boulder is not nearly as exciting.

[–]ShadyLondon -2 points-1 points ago

Fun fact: The Pop-Rap group 3oh!3 is from Boulder Colorado.

[–]LaudingLurker -5 points-4 points ago

Dirty hippies
