Nihilism, it's been said, is a necessary step along the path of every uncompromising truth-seeker. It destroys illusions of materialism and superimposed "meaning" and strips reality of all the false trappings people create that mask and obscure how things really are. It also destroys the illusion of an ego with free will and independent subjectivity - leaving in it's wake, an open road towards deeper investigation into the true nature of reality and the self. It is, however, a very painful state to be in and should be passed through as quickly as possible.
