Same thought, judging by his reaction it seems it was sudden. Hyperglycemia is not sudden. Hypoglycemia make total sense. I analyzed that too much..

Ignoring the hyper/hypoglycemia mix up.

There is an actual mental phenomenon where the brain will lightly reset when you walk through a door into another room since rooms all serve different purposes (generally) your brain will switch from kitchen to living room "mode" and this is the reason why you forget what you where trying to do.
