The brother (they are twins) is the one proposing to the lady who is his twins girlfriend, presumably. So it cost him 3 thousand dollars to buy the ring and propose to her. However HE is not the one who would marry her, it is his twin. So the prank is that she thinks his twin proposed, and the twin has no idea. Hilarity presumably ensues when the twin is confronted by his girlfriend (now "fiance") about the wedding plans.

Fairly sure there is one. But none of the mods for /r/funny do anything...

Also, I'm fairly sure (as this gets brought up like... ALL the time) that the original makers of content like this prefer for us to NOT link directly to their website, but instead link the original source in the comments.

Just in case they're popular and suddenly they get flooded with traffic. Breaking their servers or causing an infamous Reddit DDOS attack.

This always frustrates me. There was a pic on the front page recently of a paper clip floating on the surface of a cup of water. While it is freely available on wikipedia, the pic was rehosted and the original photographer wasn't mentioned at all. I know the guy who took that particular photo, and he said that this was the third time that had happened. People can be such dicks.
