  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

It's Fairy Lake, just outside Port Renfrew. I downloaded this wallpaper months ago and was amazed to see it for real. I literally pointed and yelled to my friend, "that's from the Internet!"

Won't this tree suffer an early death? Instead of growing into a majestic canopy, after a year or two at most, it will have exceeded whatever meager root area the log could provide. Unless it's root system is going to the lake bottom, this is going to be short lived....

Nice! I was just gonna mention Canada... the Western temperate forests have tons of stuff like this. The rate of decay of the dead trees is so fast that saplings grow on fallen trunks that are just a couple years dead. It's hard to tell the difference between decaying wood and soil.

It's pretty heady stuff.
