No; it takes more than four muscles to slap someone. I mean seriously?

edit; just fucking google muscles of your arm and forearm; there are a fuckload in the forearm. And also you would be recruiting muscles in the shoulder region and upper back as well.

[–]alsausi 25 points26 points ago

Not to mention the fact that most people would use their core and therefore their leg muscles.

[–]lukass4grass 7 points8 points ago

the fingers man, the fingers.

[–]nathan_walk687 0 points1 point ago

Pectoral, deltoid, bicep, and forarm flexor. Four.

[–]arkaili 0 points1 point ago

There are two pectorals and multiple forearm flexors. Not to mention the muscles recruited from the other parts of your body.

[–]nathan_walk687 0 points1 point ago

But you only use one pectoral at a time to slap one arm.

[–]arkaili 0 points1 point ago

No; there are two pectorals on each side; the pectoralis major and pectoralis minor.

This lame GIF activated all 42 muscles in my face

[–]Calibas 20 points21 points ago

It takes 0 muscles to not give a fuck.

I'm an efficient redditor, when I saw this .gif I maintained my body's perfect stillness and pressed the downvote button on my way to the back button.

i held out until the very end thinking maybe...just MAYBE they'd change at least one word in the script

Jesus christ, I don't normally do this but when I saw this comment just sitting there I laughed harder than I ever think I have on reddit before. Good job man.

[–]sharksfan93 15 points16 points ago

It takes more energy to use the 4 muscles in your arm then it does to frown at someone and use 42 face muscles

[–]Yarxing 7 points8 points ago

And it probably takes more than 4 muscles to run or defend yourself.

[–]GraveyardPoesy 3 points4 points ago

Fools, I'll keep on frowning then, and eventually I'll have a frown that could bend steel (...somehow)!

[–]Blouch 8 points9 points ago

Why is this a gif?

[–]ema1n[S] 0 points1 point ago

Because someone wanted to make it a gif...

[–]Stanstanlol 0 points1 point ago

I think more people would have preferred that you didn't...

[–]libertasmens 0 points1 point ago

Your hypothesis appears to be well supported.

[–]soulking 4 points5 points ago

I'll be sure to keep this in mind.

[–]ordnajelas 4 points5 points ago

It actually takes WAY more than 4 muscles...

[–]non_sequitur_MKE 0 points1 point ago

This post gave me cancer.

[–]zimbabwe7878 -1 points0 points ago

I hate when I see something cool in a comment thread, and then the same shit frontpages... I can feel the lazy.

[–]libertasmens 0 points1 point ago

I love, absolutely love QI, but this like many things I've seen there isn't necessarily true. I think sometimes the writers will tweak facts or use a fact that isn't well supported for the sake of entertainment. Still, that doesn't make it any less entertaining.

OK, this has always confused me. People say that it takes 42 muscles or whatever to frown, but I didn't think frowning was an active gesture. Usually, when I "frown," it's just a lack of smiling: my face becomes droopy because I am relaxing all the muscles. Unless I actively turn my lips down, which I can do, but that looks more silly than frown-y. Am I reading too much into this, or have I been misled all my life?!

[–]bubba589 0 points1 point ago

I got a forward a long time ago but it said bitch slap that mother fucker right across there face

[–]MedicMehdi 1 point2 points ago

That might be wrong.

[–]Nyght87 -1 points0 points ago

It takes 0 muscles to not give a fuck.

[–]Abstractpants -5 points-4 points ago

This is stupid.

[–]ema1n[S] 6 points7 points ago

Then downvote it and gtfo.
