Yes, very much so. I don't know who Stella is besides a senior citizen and I don't have any idea what, "Is your refrigerator running?" means or why it is funny other than it doesn't make sense. Maybe I'm over thinking this and it's just not funny. But than I second guess myself and ask, "Why so many upvotes?"

"Is your fridge running"= a pun; running as in working/running as in walking rapidly. The full joke is:

  • "Is your fridge running"

It's a really classic telephone prank in the states, everybody knows it and the actual joke isn't funny, but it's a classic so everybody can identify that it's a prank when it's said.

The joke is that an old lady would be prank calling life alert.

Bullshit, life alert still notified EMS and I had to explain that her fridge not working isn't a medical emergency. She still wanted to go to the hospital and by protocol I took her in. Life alert was happy, Stella was happy and I was happy I didn't have to do any real work for an hour.
