  1. No screenshots, or pictures with added or superimposed text. This includes image macros, comics, info-graphics and most diagrams. Text (e.g. a URL) serving to credit the original author is exempt.

  2. No gore or porn. NSFW content must be tagged.

  3. No personal information. This includes anything hosted on Facebook's servers, as they can be traced to the original account holder. Stalking & harassment will not be tolerated.

  4. No solicitation of votes (including "cake day" posts), posts with their sole purpose being to communicate with another redditor, or [FIXED] posts. DAE posts go in /r/DoesAnybodyElse. "Fixed" posts should be added as a comment to the original image.

  5. Submissions must link directly to a specific image file or to an image hosting website with minimal ads. We do not allow blog hosting of images ("blogspam"), but links to albums on image hosting websites are okay. URL shorteners are prohibited.

Please don't let your cat out on Halloween- I had a black cat and I let him out at night one year and he came back terrified with string tied to his tail that had can tops tied to it. He lucked out, I'm sure worse things happen to poor black kitties on that night.

confirmed. i worked for a shelter for a while, and not only did we not adopt out black cats for a month prior to halloween, we had a 'blacklist' of people who came in looking at black cats exclusively. it takes a bit of intuition, but you can tell when people come in looking for a pet, or a sacrifice. some were just good people looking to adopt a cat typically looked over, and some were creepers looking to kill them.

it is sad. i just found a little black kitten a month ago, and he's pretty awesome. psyco as all hell, but he'll calm down once those balls come off. i don't know why people avoid getting black cats. theyre very svelte looking. most of them at the shelter were very sweet too.

Every time I hear this I'm amazed. Kitt will stay an inside cat for sure. He was a lot like the one in the picture when I first got him, but with bright yellow eyes. (September 2008). My neighbor called him Halloween Cat too.

I can't imagine why anybody would want to hurt an animal like that. I mean, I know why - I just have trouble fathoming it.

Holy cookies :( The animal shelter I volunteer at had/has a lot of black cats the last time I checked. For every 1 non-black cat there as at least 2 or 3 black cats. Makes me wonder if any of the black cats got hurt because of Halloween.

This is true, however if you go down right after Halloween you can get some real bargains on them. I usually wait till after the holliday and buy about 5-6, just pop a few in the freezer and wait till next October to thaw them out, that's just smart shopping!

Exactly. My sister lived in an apartment complex for a few years and there was a black cat nailed to her neighbor's door the next morning.

It's no joke, there are crazy people out there, keep your cat inside. I'm not directing this at OP because it's a repost, but to everyone.
