Yep, that actually shows well why the tiger is diving under water. In a zoo or any other places where they would have to take care of tigers, people would actually start to feed them by trowing the tiger's food into the water so like that the tiger would have to do a little exercise to get it, since now that he is in captivity he doesn't have to do much to get his food anymore.

        Commonly known as sea tiger, the tiger shark is a relatively large macropredator, capable of attaining a length of over 5 m (16 ft). It is found in many tropical and temperate waters, and is especially common around central Pacific islands. The tiger is second on the list of number of recorded attacks on humans, with the great white shark being first. They often visit shallow reefs, harbors and canals, creating the potential for encounter with humans.

        Seen them many times basking near the surface close to shore here in Hawai'ian waters. Biggest I remember seeing when I still worked on tour charter boats was over 12ft.

        After heavy rains they're notorious for cruising the murky waters close to stream and river mouths, possibly lured by the scent of feral animals washed downstream from the mountains.

          I'm no marine biologist, but a little quick googling suggests that they have something analogous to a ribcage, but much shorter so it gives vastly inferior support.

          The real problem is that it's made of cartilage instead of bone, so it's even weaker than its smaller size would suggest, and being out of water puts a hell of a lot more strain on a body than being in it.
