Yeah, I'd report this. If this is in a public school in some states, it may actually be against code for there not to be an AED there. Not to mention that if someone needs to be defibrillated, the wait caused by someone running to this location, seeing this, and having to go find another AED, could mean they don't get revived.

The whole point of an AED is for emergency resuscitation. The time from cardiac arrest to the paramedics arriving without an AED is often enough time to mean the difference between life and death. That is why they are required.

Not sure why you got downvoted. The bottom left of the box says "Warning Alarmed System" Which does make it puzzling how they got the pikachu in there without setting it off.

There were plenty of these at my school. I know of several occasions where they were opened up. It just starts beeping until you close it. That's really about it. If it automatically called 911 every time someone opened it, at a public school, no actual emergencies would be handled anymore.

Due to construction at my school, the water pressure would drop. The fire alarms would trip (because the lower pressure would make them assume the sprinklers were activated, don't ask me why that makes sense), and despite it happening every day for months, in one case 4 times in a day, the fire department had to come every single time.

It was ridiculous, but yeah, they would show up regardless of how stupid the alarm was. This, of course, is a fire alarm though, not a AED box.

It starts uploading a report once it gets turned on, not when the door is opened. Since AEDs have to be checked every day for battery status and for any errors and some assholes don't put it back in the right way. Causing you to have to open the door to check the display.

AED's do not send any sort of notifications to ems if that is what you are implying. You have to notify the fire department manually by calling.

Nope. It'll make a loud siren sound, so as to draw attention to the emergency, if you don't have a key but as far as I know they don't call 9/11.
