A mesocyclone is an internal part of storm structure and is not itself visible, though there may be visible evidence of it's existence.

This photo is the updraft base of a high precipitation supercell.

In a classic supercell, the updraft base is mostly free of rain (but may have large hail), but in HP cells it is not.
