You needed and article to tell you that? I could just tell from some of the pixels. It may have helped that I've seen quite a few shops in my time though.

[–]Dunderpunch 48 points49 points ago

Okay, no, I'm sorry. I usually don't respond to political things, but this is some bullshit. For the last 4 years we have operated without a budget and have run over a trillion dollars in deficits each year. We've had a Democrat President and a Democrat majority in the Senate. Now, I have 0 faith in the Republican party just the same, but this shoop just isn't fair. Bash on the social intolerance or the catering to religious groups all you want, but when your scorn is just blatant lies, no one is going to respect you.

[–]bantam21 30 points31 points ago

Caution: Speaking negatively about the Obama administration = down votes. It's better to just go along with everyone else and forget factual track records and deny what happened in the last four years. I mean Obama is our savior right?

[–]aluvus -1 points0 points ago

The national debt predates the current administration by quite a bit, and both parties bear responsibility for parts of it. The underlying joke here is that the national debt that the Republican party has sought to make an election-year issue is in no small part due to their own policies.

[–]Psycho5275 -4 points-3 points ago

Republicans can still block things through a filibuster since the democrats don't have 61-39 majority. just thought I'd mention because it's something people overlook

[–]Dunderpunch 3 points4 points ago

This is true, but filibusters aren't used on every single disagreement. Having the majority is enough so that one party can have their way despite total opposition by the other.

Repost. No political humour allowed here and not funny anyway.

[–]jackelfrink 30 points31 points ago

Its right there at the top of the sidebar

~sigh~ November 7th cant come early enough for me.

[–]helium_farts 8 points9 points ago

It will only get worse after the election. Especially if Romney wins.

I encourage you to join us in New to help stop things like this. Every vote counts.

[–]Thefriendlyfaceplant 2 points3 points ago

Holy shit, the things people come up with. Kudos to anyone who can bear that shit but I'll stick to the frontpage.

[–]Applied_Knowledge 0 points1 point ago

Knights of New.

[–]dksprocket 6 points7 points ago

You forgot mention it's fake too.

[–]abyssinianlongear 11 points12 points ago

People only upvote vague critique of the current administration, soon as you mention that obama might be a problem the downvotes pour in and you are immediately accused of being a romnesiac.

[–]deubski 29 points30 points ago

Photoshopped, reposted, and still not true

[–]Iironen 2 points3 points ago

Debt per taxpayer: 141,346$
Well that doesnt sound so bad...

[–]tickie-tack 1 point2 points ago

Can people donate money to lower our national debt? Because that might be a good idea.

[–]Jeremyisonfire 15 points16 points ago

Donating money to a organisation that has a terrible track record at money managing is a bad idea.

[–]helium_farts 3 points4 points ago

It's called taxes. If you'd like to pay more you can contact the IRS.

[–]MaxPaynesRxDrugPlan 2 points3 points ago

If you'd like to pay more you can contact the IRS.

You can do it right from the Treasury's website, too.

[–]slvrbullet87 1 point2 points ago

You can choose to give more than the required amount on your tax return if you want

[–]IUpVoteRandomCrap 0 points1 point ago

Good luck with that.

[–]dudelikeshismusic -2 points-1 points ago

It's called taxes...

[–]Iironen 3 points4 points ago

Taxes are not donating.

[–]mtchen8 6 points7 points ago

[–]Train22nowhere 1 point2 points ago

Hmm let us see all of those at least 1 month old except for 1 which got 1 comment. Clearly there is an epidemic ಠ_ಠ

[–]mtchen8 1 point2 points ago

Yes, it's a month-old unfunny repost. Your point?

[–]Pankraz_Gotha 4 points5 points ago

I would like to say, "Well at least it can only get better from here right?" But i think we all know better.

[–]me2SekC 1 point2 points ago

There's still a chance isn't there? Right?... Guys?

[–]Pankraz_Gotha 6 points7 points ago

slap No.

[–]SlickRex 0 points1 point ago

AAAAAAAAAND.... 59 cents.

Tell me you brought the 59 cents..

[–]Waynker87 2 points3 points ago

I kind of just want to throw in that 59 cents and walk away like a bad ass.

[–]nelsonpi 2 points3 points ago

It would be more accurate if Obama was standing on the stage

[–]RabbiMike 0 points1 point ago

Whenever I see the national debt calculated down to the last cent, I always think of this video. Perfectly explains how I feel about that number, even though I know there is some financial theory mumbo jumbo behind it.

[–]Clerk57 0 points1 point ago

Not really.

[–]jerryh8391 1 point2 points ago

At 3 billion in debt spending a day I don't think it is right to show cents. That is mostly because Washington doesn't have any sense.

[–]ZaneBarrow 0 points1 point ago

I don't know how much money that is... But I know 4 commas must equal something is wrong.

[–]Cantfindafuckinusern 0 points1 point ago

Is there a list showing how much money America owes certain countries?

[–]Patthelionheart 0 points1 point ago

Don't forget the 59 cents

[–]PianoTrumpetMax 1 point2 points ago

I got that $.59 for ya'll US Gov...

[–]MostlyUselessFacts 1 point2 points ago

Faggot OP, thing's shopped.

[–]Tawes 0 points1 point ago

No politics on funny

[–]Jessicaquinn 0 points1 point ago

Why not just go ahead and give em their .59?

[–]StickSauce -1 points0 points ago

Is it running? I refused to believe that you could actually read the cents place with anything short of a picosecond shutter.

[–]Brett42 0 points1 point ago

Your shutter speed just has to be faster than the sign.

[–]StickSauce 3 points4 points ago

Upper left counter. It doesn't even track cents, and can barely keep up with hundreds of dollars.

[–]Smooth496 1 point2 points ago

For a second I thought it said We Bullshit.

[–]wichitafalls 0 points1 point ago

lol. its funny because Republican!!

[–]MacFatty 1 point2 points ago

Is it even remotely possible for the states to ever get out of this debt?

[–]Xx420xcirclejerker69 4 points5 points ago

LOL you think we are paying it back!

[–]MacFatty 3 points4 points ago

At some point it will crash completely if you keep printing money, I can't imagine anything else.

[–]Vectoor 0 points1 point ago

You got into it pretty quick. If you get your shit together and manage to run a reasonable 1% surplus it would be possible to pay it off in a few decades.

Not to brag but that is what we have done in Sweden for about 15 years. We have gone from over 70% of GDP debt to under 50% by having a 1% surplus every year, an unofficial rule followed by both right and left wing goverments. This has given us the ability to run a few % deficit next year for some stimulus to keep the economy growing during this weak economy in the rest of Europe, while paying an incredibly low interest due to our responsible debt history.

Okay yeah that was to brag, sorry about that.

[–]MacFatty 0 points1 point ago

Well thats great on sweden, but 1% in america is a majestic metric fuckton of money. But a good start would be to tax the rich.

[–]Vectoor 0 points1 point ago

Yeah, but you have a lot more money as well. I think, that what you really need is for your government to stand strong and united and perform a number of reforms. Sadly your political system is designed from the ground up to prevent exactly this.

[–]MacFatty 0 points1 point ago

I'm from Denmark , but you are correct.

[–]Vectoor 0 points1 point ago

Right, wrong of me to assume. Americans do like to play the "America is so big, your solution won't work here" card though.

[–]MacFatty 0 points1 point ago

Haha, they sure do. But if things don't change for the better with economic growth, the "Greatest" country in the world is going down the drain.

[–]MostlyUselessFacts 0 points1 point ago

You mean, tax the rich more than the 35% they're paying.

[–]MostlyUselessFacts 0 points1 point ago

Highest suicide rate in the world too, btw. Because people are so happy there they could just die.

[–]freecandy_van 0 points1 point ago

Wow a funny picture from the RNC... There's no way Reddit has seen it yet!

[–]T-Bone_The_Spider -2 points-1 points ago

National debt isn't necessarily horrible. It makes other countries that we owe money to want us and to do well so they will work with us so they can ensure they get their money back.

[–]svend_joergen -4 points-3 points ago

Is the number really legit? You could smack any number up there, and the vast majority would still believe it.

[–]helium_farts 4 points5 points ago

The number is correct, the photo is fake.

I think people are missing the point. I don't think this photoshop was made to trick people. Merely making a statement about the financial situation of the U.S.
