Two years ago I visited the Smithsonian with my parents. I was 22. After waiting 20 minutes we finally got up to the Declaration of Independence. The guard, who you could tell had no sense of humor and had completely died inside after years of dealing with tourists, said "please don't touch the glass."

"Absolutely, no problem!" I said. What did I then do, you may ask?

I lean in close and do exactly what that beluga whale did. That glass was so fucking clean there was no way you could tell it was 6 inches off the surface of the document. I felt like a retard and sulked away.

Despite its name, the beluga whale is not, in the strictest sense, a whale. However, it belongs to the family Monodontidae (whose only other member is the narwhal), not Delphinidae, so it isn't a dolphin either*!

*As per the above linked wikipedia page, the term dolphin is sometimes used for any member of the suborder Odontoceti, which would include the beluga. The strictest definition, however, would exclude our beloved glass expert.
