its not real, they revealed it to be a surfer tiki statue.

[–]spaceboundmonkeys 36 points37 points ago

Nice try reptiallian PR manager.

[–]archonemis₱ӛąȼɘ άῂɖ ḹѻʌє 3 points4 points ago

Only a member would openly deny that this -

ILLUMINATUS!

[–]Johnny_Oldschool 7 points8 points ago

And why exactly would google blur out an entire tiki surfing statue when they only ever blur out faces and military installations?

Possibilities:

1.) By accident 2.) As a joke 3.) Because it wasn't supposed to be seen

[–]theninjasquad 10 points11 points ago

I'm pretty sure someone doesn't sit down and go through all the images and blur things out manually. They likely have developed algorithms to scrub the images of people and license plates. This was likely picked up as looking like a person and was thus blurred.

[–]plajjer 0 points1 point ago

and their algorithm probably scrutinizes locations that are getting linked to because there is a chance that a figure is the focus of the link...maybe people are making fun of them, maybe they are in a compromising position etc so google blurs them out to play safe. It would probably pick up too many false positives if it scanned every single zoomed shot and ran their algorithm on it or something like that.

[–]those_draculas 1 point2 points ago

actually the algorithm only flags these pictures. The same guys who check the pictures for quality standards have the final say in what gets blurred or not. It's real tedious

[–]jefewyatt 2 points3 points ago

I'm going to go with #2. I think it most likely that some prankster on 4chan saw this and filed a complaint with Google, who probably don't care too much about the validity of a claim when trying to avoid privacy lawsuits. I could be completely wrong though, I'm just conjecturing.

[–]xbiggiesmallsx 11 points12 points ago

Nah. A demonic alien-reptilian-humanoid is much more plausible.

[–]Skwerley -2 points-1 points ago

No dipshit, the owner didn't want it stolen and pitched a fit, this was google's solution.

[–]Johnny_Oldschool 0 points1 point ago

Personal insults have never made a positive contribution to the free exchange of information. If you're upset about events in your life, anger will not resolve them. Your explination is obviously the most logical one. It stands by its self without the need to broadcast your own insecurity.

[–]Berz3rk3r 0 points1 point ago

late to the party. do you have that source by chance, cuz that thing looks hella ugly, even for a surfer tiki statue. looks more like a halloween prop :P

[–]Trainasauruswrecks 0 points1 point ago

Good thing they blurred it out then.

[–]enotsr22Small town conspiracy 7 points8 points ago

That looks creepy.

[–]corr0sivespoiler 6 points7 points ago

Looks like some carved wooden statue. Tikki guy or something.

[–]KxIxDxD 6 points7 points ago

... I zoomed in on the picture and saw dots for eyes, long sentence short, I pretty much pissed myself just now.

[–]bluntismaximus 9 points10 points ago

anyone can call in and ask for something to be blurred/removed. this is not a conspiracy. just people looking to find one. move along.

[–]Skwerley 18 points19 points ago

Lol. This isn't a conspiracy you fucking nutjob, there was a complaint launched because it's "valuable" property and the owner wanted it censored so someone didn't come by and swipe it. This was posted all over /r/4chan when it happened, months ago.

[–]MrsSippy 18 points19 points ago

Just because someone posts something here doesn't mean they think or imply that it is 100% conspiracy. Some people post here so there can be an exchange of information and determine if something is also not a conspiracy. There's no need to be rude.

[–]KonDonUhh 20 points21 points ago

Is the name calling really necessary lol

[–]deanguk 0 points1 point ago

It's amazing how writing fucking in front of various different words completely changes the perception of it.

[–]kenny-rogers 2 points3 points ago

I'd rather they censor the bike.

It's the woman from the "I Pet Goat" video

[–]those_draculas 2 points3 points ago

I use to be a location photographer for google. For the maps project (codename "innerspace" we loved codenames) the lawsuits piled up unbelievably fast when i was there we had a team of 6 people who's job would be to filter out anything that would be dubious privacy wise. They'd literally sit at a computer for 8 hours a day and go picture by picture looking at files the algorithm deamed to be a lawsuit risk (usually flagged for having human-like features in them... I got an email once from one of the guys for an ugly dog the computer wanted to blur!) and deciding if they need to blur anything.

Not really a conspiracy, more of a QC guy not wanting his boss to yell at him

[–]TheWiredWorld 4 points5 points ago

There's another one in Scotland - some weird guy in a horse mask just standing in a street - they blurred out his horse mask for some retarded reason....I'll post when I get home later - or someone else will before then.

Makes you wonder how many of these there are.

[–]Anon007_legion 2 points3 points ago

Lol it's Summer as fuck in here!

[–]herpaderp2026ᐂಠ_ಠᐂ 0 points1 point ago

Halloween decoration?

[–]injurious 1 point2 points ago

I'd like to see if I could blur my house out of google street view. I bet i'd have a real hard time doing this. Does anyone have any information or who to contact so that I can blur out my house?

[–][deleted] 4 points5 points ago

Sure thing, just dial 9-1-1. Then tell them what you are trying to do.

[–]arniekins 1 point2 points ago

aliums?

[–]selfchosen2 0 points1 point ago

Likely blurred because it shares similar characteristics to a naked brown person.

[–]Reptillian97 0 points1 point ago

I think this is appropriate.

[–]CaptianTool 0 points1 point ago

i can swear ive seen something like that before...

[–]shinigamiX 0 points1 point ago

has anybody seen my notebook ? I dropped it somewhere

[–]Zagtar_the_Defender 2 points3 points ago

Obviously an alien

[–]RAPTOR_JESIS9/11 never happened 0 points1 point ago

It looks like a person, so Google's face blurring software probably blurred it out.

people on /x/ have been trolling people with this for years. I'm suprised it took so long to end up here.

[–]hanahouplain -1 points0 points ago

I'd blur the ugly naked malnourished hooker out also.

[–]Tashmourne 1 point2 points ago

All Im reading here are disinformation agents from the department of bullshit, trying to hide the plain obvious truth of what my own eyes are clearly seeing.

ITS AN ALIEN ACCIDENTALLY CAUGHT ON FILM BY GOOGLE.

Instead of broadcasting this fact, they are covering it up. Do no evil my ass.

[–]pork2001 -1 points0 points ago

You see nothing. It's nothing. Go about your day and forget. Forget. There is nothing wrong. All is right. There are no aliens, that is silly. Monday, report to your Indoctrination Officer. Now sleep. Sleep. Forget. You never had a missing cousin. She never existed. Obey.
