Very true. You can't take your money with you when you die, but a legacy will last a lot longer. That can hurt when your legacy goes from one of dominance despite adversity to being a lying cheat. I would be sad as well and the wiping of the tears just shows how little comfort his money is right now.

Very well thought out.

That looks like Woody Harrelson after his Rampart AMA.

[–]bknutner 1 point2 points ago

Actually, i think some of his sponsors have the right to the money they gave him - part of his contract includes moral character

[–]theDigitalNinja 0 points1 point ago

I still spend a lot of money at his bars.

[–]jermikemike 0 points1 point ago

Yep. He's in serious jeopardy of being flat fucking broke. As in owing debtors millions of dollars broke. He defrauded his sponsors.

I haven't cried like this since Titanic.

[–]Cornholioh 0 points1 point ago

Awww, poor guy. Here, let me help you out from under that rock of yours.

[–]DuckingTape 1 point2 points ago

You accualy didnt help at all...

[–]highguy98 -1 points0 points ago

why are people so upset about the whole thing? firstly you cannot prove unequivocally that he doped and secondly every cunt in the race dopes and everyone fucking knows it whether they admit it or not.

[–]Corbrrrrr -1 points0 points ago

It's proven by his lack of denial. He knows he did it so he's not going to bother defending himself. He would rather try to step out quietly.

[–]highguy98 6 points7 points ago

lack of denial = definite guilt? That sort of logic reminds me of people who would drown suspected witches way back in the dark ages. In other words totally absurd and unsubstantiated. My original point was however, that doping and other shenanigans is widespread amongst competitive cyclists. I wouldn't be surprised in the slightest if Armstong did. But I can't prove it, you can't prove it and neither can any of his accusers. What's more, anyone could easily make the same accusations about the guy who came in second to him. And the guy who came in third.

Didn't he fail several tests? I thought the USADA had blood samples of his that are consistent with doping. I think I also read somewhere that his old piss samples were retested with newer technology and they were found to contained EPO's.

[–]l33tb3rt 0 points1 point ago

I do believe the old tests would have passed the statute of limitations. However, the USADA had such a hard on for nailing Armstrong, he was going to be banned regardless. It was, and will remain, a witch hunt.

[–]wanderinhebrew 0 points1 point ago

With the amount of people who gave testimony and eye witness accounts, didn't the USADA have no choice but to investigate?

I like to compare Lance to Pete Rose. Rose was questioned by the commissioner of baseball and after hearing what he had to say, the investigation was dropped. Then, after "bookies, associates, and bet-runners" gave eye witness testimony, Rose was banned from the game. I don't think baseball had a shred of physical evidence proving anything. The testimony was so damning though, the new commissioner had no choice but to issue a ban. Rose denied betting on baseball for almost 15 years before he finally admitted what he did. A lot of Rose fans at the time thought baseball was on a witch hunt, but in the end they were in the right for investigating the claims.

I like Lance, but 26 people, including team mates and trainers, gave sworn statements and eye witness testimony. I don't think the USADA had a choice, they had to investigate the matter.

[–]l33tb3rt 0 points1 point ago

USADA have no choice but to investigate?

The two who started the witch hunt where Hamilton and Landis, both dopers. And the latter is best known as outting Greg Lemond, to save his own ass. Do you think they have any credibility? Do you think the sweetheart deals of "admit to doping, hang it on Armstrong, and you'll only get 6 months, not life" wouldn't influence people to fabricate? It's all horseshit, and a witch hunt. As soon as USADA got the idea Armstrong was guilty, they weren't going to let it not happen.

[–]wanderinhebrew 0 points1 point ago

In 2010 Landis accused Lance of doping. I think the "witch hunt" started in the early 2000's when Steve Swart said him and Lance were doping in 1995.

I also believe the USADA had no choice but to investigate because of the millions of dollars companies had spent on funding Lance. I mean if you had invested millions of dollars in a company and handfuls of people came forward accusing the company of fraud, wouldn't you expect a investigation to be launched? I would.

[–]l33tb3rt 0 points1 point ago

Your last paragraph shows that USADA was going to find Lance guilty, regardless of fact. The investigation was not fair, from inception to conclusion. Period.

[–]wanderinhebrew 0 points1 point ago

So potential fraud shouldn't be investigated?

[–]Corbrrrrr -2 points-1 points ago

In his position if you could prove you couldn't why wouldn't you? Obviously he can't prove that he didn't or there is conclusive evidence that he did.

[–]l33tb3rt 0 points1 point ago

If you pass 500 tests, and someone says "You're still guilty" wouldn't you quit throwing money at the problem?

[–]take_once_daily 0 points1 point ago

Innocent until proven guilty?

Its funny how they actually used $100 bills and not just $1's.
