  • Do not post links to profiles or any other personal info. This will get you banned immediately.

  • No like whore posts. This also applies to people tricking others into stupid comments.

Abusive and/or malicious content will be removed. A user posting such content may be banned. A banned user may appeal to the moderators; a majority vote of moderators can overturn a ban. The vote is final.

... you know, I'm not one to talk about poseurs and fake fans... but damn. Just damn.

[–]Kongo204 28 points29 points ago

Nirvana isn't even old enough to have fake fans ...right?

[–]free_dead_puppy 40 points41 points ago

Sorry man. You're getting old too.

[–]Kongo204 9 points10 points ago

Nah. The band broke up the year before I was born. I am a fan though.

Edit: Has anyone accepted the dead puppy?

[–]free_dead_puppy 5 points6 points ago

Ah well that's legit.

Half of my inbox is people asking me for a dead puppy in some way or another. I never foresaw the consequences of my actions.

[–]MrFrimplesYummyDog 2 points3 points ago

Is the puppy yummy, like my dog?

[–]canucksoul 4 points5 points ago

They are. There's a girl in my school who wears Van Halen and Nirvana shirts and when asked if she knows any members she replies "Oh..I dunno" and "They're the band with the dude that killed himself!" respectively.

[–]Kongo204 11 points12 points ago

Maybe she is a fan but just doesn't know the members? I have to hope

[–]knot353 3 points4 points ago

I'm a lot like that, I couldn't tell you who played in van halen or even name a song but I would never buy a shirt. Only because as I believe you should only where a band shirt if you listen to the band a lot or have seen them in concert. I know that they have good songs and I have listened to them. They just never sparked my interest enough to actually find things out about the band.

[–]GeniousMadness 4 points5 points ago

It is fashionable to wear band-shirts among teenage girls now. So most of them want to dress like their favourite blogger, but won't care which band is on their shirts.

[–]InnerPartisan 0 points1 point ago

It is fashionable to wear band-shirts among teenage girls among wannabe-hipsters of all genders and ages. Seriously, the ammount of squares I met who've been wearing Motörhead, Ramones or The Clash shirts without even knowing the name of a single song by those respective bands is staggering.

(And yes: There really are people who don't know a single song by either Motörhead, The Ramones or The Clash. Sad but true.)

[–]Jimi_With_2_eyes 5 points6 points ago

It's not a hipster thing by any means... Its just straight up poseurs. And that shits been happening for years. look what happened when the cure released just like heaven. Its like when people say "I'm into country but only old country... like johnny cash and stuff." It some how became fashionable to like johnny cash.

[–]bigsnakejake 2 points3 points ago

The only country I like is old, and I am by no means a poser or hipster. New country is just pop music that can't be defined as any other genre but country. They actually have to call real country music "traditional" now.

[–]Jimi_With_2_eyes 1 point2 points ago

Im the same way. Waylon, Willie, Merle, all 3 Hanks, Bobby Bare, Kristofferson, Conway, George Straight, Alabama, Patsy, Skeeter Davis, I can keep going with the old stuff I like... Im just talking about the poseur aspect of automatically going to JC, that people tend to do when they want to sound cultured and diverse.

[–]CountGrasshopper 0 points1 point ago

I think I'm the sort of person you're describing here, although I really don't identify as a fan of country. Most of what I've heard is pretty bad, and he's the most prominent exception by far.

To be fair, I'm sure I'd find a lot of country I'd like if I cared to look. This song I heard in the background of a TV show is pretty good. I just dislike what my sister listens to.

[–]ChagSC 0 points1 point ago

Try some George Strait.

[–]fiddlercrabs 27 points28 points ago

Who the heck is the person on the left?

[–]Metalhead62 20 points21 points ago

Sigh... Just saying the name and putting it one more time into the internet rots me from the inside out. It's Amanda Todd.

[–]fiddlercrabs 18 points19 points ago

Oh. Someone committed suicide after being bullied. That's...new. Oh...and people from 4chan are trying to get revenge? Go...them, I guess.

[–]WhipIash 1 point2 points ago

Lots of people commit suicide from bullying. Lots of people are bullied, but apparently you have to commit suicide for anyone to care. Oh well.

[–]ChickinSammich 1 point2 points ago

Yeah, I didn't know who she was either.

[–]LOLBaltSS 30 points31 points ago

What did Amanda Todd and Nirvana have in common?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9KxZqDaO-I

[–]Jayhawk519 6 points7 points ago

I will go to hell for laughing at that but alas, I did laugh.

[–]Magzter 3 points4 points ago

/r/ImGoingToHellForThis

I see you already posted it there. You would have cleaned up if you used that for the title :)

[–]th3sousa 1 point2 points ago

Oh holy shit.

[–]ChickinSammich 1 point2 points ago

What was the last thing to go through Kurt Cobain's mind?

His teeth.

[–]handyman-dan -1 points0 points ago

hateful reddit?

[–]darya521 13 points14 points ago

Same day repost.

[–]LoriBeth 1 point2 points ago

Seriously! Didn't I see this one less than 10 hours ago?

[–]dchurch42003 34 points35 points ago

Definite facepalm. But I disagree with the Facebook post. It's not unlikely that some people might not know a singer (who died before they were born or when they were young) and know someone who has been all over the web for the last week. People who push their love of KC onto others are worse than the crazy religious fanatic standing on the pavement, bible in hand, shouting at passers by.

[–]cate_aclysm 40 points41 points ago

She is wearing a Nirvana shirt.

[–]pookymama2007 23 points24 points ago

Indeed. I guess some people don't care about this, but I personally won't wear shirts that have a reference on it I don't get. It drives me nuts when other people do that. A twelve year old girl came into my work wearing an AC DC shirt, so I asked her if she liked them. She had no clue what I was talking about. =( It made me sad.

[–]GGSkeletor 2 points3 points ago

She might have just liked the shirt. Not everyone needs to get every reference ever to appreciate things. My road helmet has Chinese characters on it. Can I read chinese? No. For all I know it says raging homosexual, but I think it looks cool. Also, you don't need to know what a band looks like to be able to appreciate their music. I love the offspring but I wouldn't be able to pick them out of a line up.

[–]bugses101 6 points7 points ago

Mmm, I agree. I have a Rolling Stones shirt that a friend bought for me. Do I listen to the Rolling Stones? No, but I still wear the shirt because it was a gift, I think it looks cool, and it's a perfectly good shirt!

[–]lukelear 7 points8 points ago

poser.

[–]bigsnakejake -1 points0 points ago

Amen.

[–]ihateyoursister 16 points17 points ago

Maybe she's wearing the shirt because she's a fan of a transcendent state in which there is neither suffering, desire, nor sense of self, and the subject is released from the effects of karma and the cycle of death and rebirth.

[–]sje46 -5 points-4 points ago

...you couldn't miss his point more.

First, he addressed that by saying

Definite facepalm.

The fact that he understand the girl is a poser/idiot/whatever has absolutely no bearing on the point of his comment, which is to disagree with the initial post

The fact that she's wearing a Nirvana shirt and didn't know who Kurt Cobain is has absolutely zero bearing on how fucking stupid the initial post is in the first place.

[–]laemon 7 points8 points ago

Agreed.

You are everything wrong with the world

I mean, I know facebook overreactions but holy hell man..

Ironic thing is, I could bet my right nut that this picture was made by a 14 year old who just an hour earlier found and listened to "[HD] Nevermind [Full Album] [XXX Only 90's kids will remember dis XXX]" on YouTube for the first time.

[–]theCodeCat 3 points4 points ago

For the sake of practicing grammar, should the caption say "If you know who this is but don't know who this is, then you represent all that is wrong in this world"?

[–]NoButthole 8 points9 points ago

More like "If you think Kurt Cobain is the most important person to ever commit suicide and everyone should know his story then you're an asshole."

[–]Le-Captain-Obvious -1 points0 points ago

I'm just going to say he didn't commit suicide. Okay, thank you. -someone who spends too much time researching his favorite artists

[–]NoButthole 0 points1 point ago

Care to elaborate?

[–]Le-Captain-Obvious 1 point2 points ago

Oh, goodness. I was just being silly. However, I am convinced he was hit and framed. I can't explain everything here. Watch the movie Kurt And Courtney online. Pretty sure it's free. That's one of my sources.

[–]NoButthole 0 points1 point ago

Oh. I was all excited about learning something. Way to let me down ;P

[–]essen23 3 points4 points ago

[–]Tortillas47 2 points3 points ago

I was wondering the same thing. I prefer Pikitott's version of this post much more.

[–]Le-Captain-Obvious 0 points1 point ago

All it is is the same thing but not protecting identity. However, it shows that she just wants to be like her favorite blogger.

[–]all_my_rage 0 points1 point ago

There was a thread on 4chan with this picture, so they could easily be two different people.

[–]Bashki[S] 1 point2 points ago

Alas I am not. I don't know if Pikitott posted this before me or not, if they did then I apologise.

[–]foreverskepticalone 1 point2 points ago

Had there also been a "You tell me, you're the one with a fucking Nirvana shirt", this would've made my day.

[–]Sashalexandra 2 points3 points ago

...what the hell is wrong with knowing who Amanda Todd is? Is she on the same level as Snooki now?!

[–]perri93 2 points3 points ago

I wish Snookie would get on the same level as Amanda Todd. 6 feet underground that is...

[–]i_love_younicorns 2 points3 points ago

Thank you! FINALLY! A real facepalm! My forehead hurts.

[–]nontoxicpuppydog 1 point2 points ago

Being a huge "Grunge" fan, this made me well up with anger...but not at the girl in the post. (Okay, well maybe a little)

BUT!!!

I'm angry at Courtney Love....sellout bitch still making money from poor Kurt. waves angry fist

[–]CatMadeOfFur 1 point2 points ago

Ohhh you sound like Ex.

[–]nontoxicpuppydog 1 point2 points ago

I'm confused by your comment. Am I missing something?

[–]CatMadeOfFur 1 point2 points ago

I maybe worded it wrong or weird, so not really. I dated a guy who we will call tim, Tim was into grunge, a huge Nirvana fan, obsessed over nirvana. It was to the point where if Kurt were to have died today, Tim would have gone to wherever he lived and been someone outside the house. I am sure Tim wished he could own hair or something. Tim hated people who wore shirts of bands and had no idea who they were. Tim and I also have talked about many of a time how cournty love was a swine, how she could have killed him, how it was her fault. blah blahfg blah. There is more but your comment reminded me who funny he was.

[–]nontoxicpuppydog 0 points1 point ago

Okay! I get it. There wasn't a "my" in there so I was confused. Thanks for the clarification!

[–]CatMadeOfFur 0 points1 point ago

Anytime.

I did not notice I missed the word my.

[–]rocknroll_heart 1 point2 points ago

Technically, no. She's recently lost that right. A few years ago, she took out a 2 million dollar loan from the money held for Frances, then never paid it back. Now all images, song, etc goes straight to Frances Bean (where it should go)

[–]Riley_ 2 points3 points ago

Maybe she likes their music but never bothered to read about the band??

[–]dwago 0 points1 point ago

I don't even listen to Nirvana yet.... I know who that is...

[–]rzm61 0 points1 point ago

Meh at least it's not those shit kids who wear Misfits shirts and the only 'punk' band they have ever listened to is Blink-182. ಠ_ಠ

[–]SwinginCrabWhacka 0 points1 point ago

It's really bullshit to compare those two. Amanda Todd just committed suicide. Kurt Cobain died in 94. People paid attention then and got over it. There is no reason her death should be made unimportant because of that. I don't like the people who act like the Amanda Todd's death made an impact on their lives, but that Facebook post was just ignorant to compare the two.

[–]changeyou -1 points0 points ago

Maybe she bought the shirt knowing the meaning of the word "Nirvana" but not knowing that it was associated with the BAND Nirvana.

Just an idea.

[–]chudsp87 -1 points0 points ago

There's nothing wrong with the world about not knowing the picture of a lead singer of a band from roughly two decades ago.

[–]chevree 0 points1 point ago

I knew it was Amanda Todd but I didn't know who the guy was. Even worse, I thought it looked like Chad Kroeger, but I didn't think people really thought he was outstanding person, so I was at a loss again.

I am everything that is wrong with the world ;_;

[–]Yellosnomonkee 0 points1 point ago

Then again, you don't have to follow the personal lives of the members to just like an album. But at the same time, she shouldn't have bought a shirt.

[–]multiplesifl 0 points1 point ago

This makes me feel both sad and old.

[–]danxmason 2 points3 points ago

Why should everyone in the world know who Kurt Cobain is?

[–]Taylor_Kittenface 14 points15 points ago

I think if you're wearing a Nirvana tshirt, you should know who the fuck Kurt Cobain is.

[–]sje46 5 points6 points ago

That applies to the girl who responded, but not to the initial post which says that everyone who doesn't know who Kurt Cobain is is "everything wrong with the world".

[–]sje46 -1 points0 points ago

That applies to the girl who responded, but not to the initial post which says that everyone who doesn't know who Kurt Cobain is is "everything wrong with the world".

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points ago

hey incase you guys wanna see her face http://www.reddit.com/tb/11ngkq

[–]Maythefrogbewithyou 0 points1 point ago

As a native of Washington I hate it that people relate to us with Kurt cobain. And I use to love nirvana but it has been ruin for a lot of us people that live around the Seattle area for every radio station feels like they must play nirvana at least 2-3 times a hour, and every middle schooler and high schooler goes through a nirvana stage here that just repeats their music over and over again. The guy only knew like 3 chords. The only good thing about nirvana to me was Dave Grohl

[–]keyper 0 points1 point ago

I live no where near Washington state and you just described my town. Almost everyone in my class went through a nirvana stage, and radio stations play them a lot here, too. I still like them.

[–]NoButthole -3 points-2 points ago

Nirvana wasn't even that good...

[–]Infini-Bus -1 points0 points ago

I didn't recognize of them, but I'm don't have Nirvana T-Shirt.

I actually don't know what a lot of the musicians I listen to look like. I just listen to their music.

[–]Fart_Garfunkel -1 points0 points ago

Good point. Maybe she likes Nirvana but knows nothing about them outside their music.

[–]wha7thmah 0 points1 point ago

This was my first thought. I listen to a lot of bands that I wouldn't recognize from a picture alone. Then I thought about it and Cobain was, and still is, pretty fuckin' famous. So now I'm kind of iffy about this post.

[–]mastjt129 -3 points-2 points ago

repost

[–]TomViolence -2 points-1 points ago

Lol girls are stoopid amiright?

[–]hgpot -2 points-1 points ago

I know the left one, but not the right one.

[–]TriMageRyan -2 points-1 points ago

I hate the use of question marks these days. That last sentence wasn't a question and didn't need the mark for it, yet every idiot decides to throw them on every sentence that they feel like for little to no reason.

/rant

[–]methcamp -4 points-3 points ago

I wish someone would dig up Kurt Cobain and shoot him again

[–]DrNoodles247 -1 points0 points ago

why do we really need to know who amanda todd is? its entirely possible she doesnt know why amanda todd is. in about 3 weeks the rest of us will forget as well

[–]cefarix -3 points-2 points ago

Whenever I see nirvana I'm reminded of Hinduism or Buddhism. I don't get who the guy on the right is either.

[–]Le-Captain-Obvious 1 point2 points ago

Kurt Cobain of Nirvana. He was framed as if he committed suicide and the grunge scene was massively struck by it.

[–]hamsta5 -1 points0 points ago

[–]Le-Captain-Obvious 0 points1 point ago

Reddiquette

[–]Major-----de_Coverly -1 points0 points ago

I dunno ... I like a lot of bands that I couldn't tell you who the lead singer is.

[–]puravida1024 -5 points-4 points ago

I think the bigger facepalm is the actual picture. Kurt Cobain is really not that important.

[–]447u -5 points-4 points ago

Nirvana doesn't only mean the band. It's also a state of enlightenment.

[–]tiffanydisasterxoxo 2 points3 points ago

The shirt the girl is wearing is for the band and features their famous logo.

[–]447u 1 point2 points ago

Oh, didn't see that.

[–]changeyou 0 points1 point ago

Famous logo to people who recognize it, she still could have just bought the shirt without knowing it meant the band.

[–]tiffanydisasterxoxo 0 points1 point ago

It is sold in the band T section at every store.

[–]changeyou 0 points1 point ago

Or at a thrift store.
