Fun fact: Firefox actually uses less memory than Chrome when each one has 40 tabs open.

[–]salton 69 points70 points ago

True but that's because chrome uses a separate instance per tab. Chrome tends to fail a lot more gracefully when a page crashes a chrome instance instead of crashing every page you have open like firefox.

[–]HiFiWiFiSciFi 29 points30 points ago

Web dev mutant for more than a decade. Chrome > Firefox > Opera > Curl > IE;

foreach($IECSS as $nickel) { $mymoney++; }

Thread over.

[–]Kavyle 14 points15 points ago

Wait. What's that "Curl" browser? I just got used to seeing Opera...

[–]sleeplessone 10 points11 points ago

[–]Kavyle 3 points4 points ago

Thanks!

Now I get the joke~

[–]GlucoseCowboy 0 points1 point ago

Ha I know one of the guys who made and worked on CURL, aren't I special!

[–]Ev00 9 points10 points ago

As a computer engineer... Why the fuck would anyone need 50... No... 30 pages open on their browser...

[–]ExtremeFrisbee 12 points13 points ago

Porn.

[–]frost5al 4 points5 points ago

Open ALL the related videos!!

[–]keeperofdakeys 4 points5 points ago

I have .... 454 tabs open. Unfortunately I found Hacker News, and open interesting links, but sometimes don't have time to read them. They slowly accumulate over time, till I perform a 'great reading'. This isn't helped by always suspending my laptop. Also, with all those tabs open, I'm only using 3.9 GB.

[–]toohardtoswallow 1 point2 points ago

You're never going to get to them all.

I'll open ~10 tabs and say fuck it before reading the first 5.

[–]darnin 3 points4 points ago

TVTropes?

[–]ImANewRedditor 0 points1 point ago

Reddit and TVTropes combined.

[–]dHUMANb 0 points1 point ago

....I just weaned myself off of TVTropes.... but I guess now that you mention it I never got around to rereading all the articles to make sure one of them hasn't been edited...

[–]MrButtermancer 0 points1 point ago

Browsing reddit I often go through a page on interesting links and just open them all in new tabs. Get maybe 15? I have an ex girlfriend that used to keep TWO HUNDRED up but yeah turns out she was insane so that probably shouldn't count.

(no seriously she went on meds)

[–]sushiaddict 0 points1 point ago

As someone who queues up 50-60 tabs of things to read at once, me. I use firefox cause chrome ends up taking 3-4 gigs of memory when I do that >.>. plus ff has tab groups. Dunno if chrome has that.

[–]rahmad 0 points1 point ago

routinely >50 pages open.

designing something, font choices, reference images, emails, notes, docs. 50 ain't even breaking a sweat, that's just my window. everybody else in the house has their own window with 10-30 tabs of stuff they are actively working on/ingesting.

chrome don't stutta. ain't no thayng.

goddamit the wire, you've infected my talking manner.

[–]Zrk2 1 point2 points ago

I feel validated now.

[–]animal422 2 points3 points ago

What about Safari?

[–]Shin-LaC 1 point2 points ago

On Mac or Windows? On Mac, Safari > *. On Windows, dunno.

[–]PineappleBoots 0 points1 point ago

what is *?

[–]grrrranimal 2 points3 points ago

"*" is a wildcard character that basically means "all" without having to type them all out. For example if you were running a shell (command line) and you wanted to move the entire contents of a folder to another folder you would type "mv * <somewhere Else>" instead of typing out each name. (mv is the command "move")

[–]geonetix 0 points1 point ago

On windows nothing actually, Apple stopped releasing safari for windows.

[–]upper-deck 0 points1 point ago

Hopefully Quicktime will be next.

[–]_Wolfos 0 points1 point ago

A lot of people depend on Quicktime for opening a huge number of formats. Hell, Blender 3D uses Quicktime to open .PSD files.

[–]upper-deck 0 points1 point ago

Maybe they could just build some libraries then, and get rid of the crappy player. It's crappy on Windows, and almost as crappy on OSX.

[–]_Wolfos 0 points1 point ago

The latest OSX version is glorious, and nobody else has bothered building a screen capture program for OSX either.

[–]_Wolfos 0 points1 point ago

I disagree. It's nowhere near Chrome, even on Mac.

[–]Redditor8472 1 point2 points ago

foreach($IECSS as $nickel) { $mymoney++; }

What is this shit? Are you trying to be inefficient?

$mymoney += count($IECSS);

There. Much better. Though I personally feel it should be something like:

$balance_in_cents += (count($IECSS) * 5);

[–]sleeplessone 1 point2 points ago

Why no Lynx? :(

[–]AirdustPenlight 0 points1 point ago

You forgot to put Surf at the top, which is better than all of them, followed by lynx.

Firefox is bloated and has too large of a footprint, and is really poorly managed. E.g. if you don't want a functionality they make it a plugin and blame the user when it breaks. No matter what, Firefox is doing something, even if it's just calculating the perfect time to crash. Chrome can't walk out the door with crashing. Opera has a few killer features, like not loading gifs until you look at them, and is more stable than either with a smaller footprint.

[–]madcow15 5 points6 points ago

It is usually the plugin container in FF that fails so I will just ctrl + shift + esc and kill the plugin-container and then everything works fine without it freezing edit: fixed from alt to shift because it is late and i am an idiot

[–]Brett42 7 points8 points ago

Don't you mean ctrl + shift + esc?

[–]madcow15 0 points1 point ago

I do in fact mean that thank you. Was about to go through ctrl alt delete but then it would take longer to have to say bring up task manager :P

[–]iarcfsil 0 points1 point ago

What's that shortcut do? Not much of a technical person here

[–]theiginator 4 points5 points ago

He means Ctrl + Shift + Esc. Go ahead and try it. It's beautiful.

[–]upper-deck 0 points1 point ago

It didn't do anything.

[–]theiginator 0 points1 point ago

Strange. Which OS are you using?

[–]dHUMANb 0 points1 point ago

When I first discovered that shortcut, it was lifechanging.

[–]NightWolf105 1 point2 points ago

Opens Task Manager. It's just a quicker way than Ctrl + Alt + Delete.

[–]ItsTobias 1 point2 points ago

For those inclined to use the mouse, right clicking the taskbar has had an option to open the Task Manager for a few Windows versions now.

[–]Bawbert 0 points1 point ago

Wow I never knew that, thank you very much!

[–]artz 0 points1 point ago

Try it next time.

It opens the task manager.

[–]Lippuringo 1 point2 points ago

I never understand this. My FF always restore my tavs after crash. I find that chrome better only for slow PCs, on more powerfull PCs FF works fine.

[–]salton 3 points4 points ago

They both restore the previously open tabs in that situation but I was talking about how it happens a lot less often with chrome because of the sandboxing. They're both fantastic browsers though. I don't have anything against proffering firefox. I keep 4 or 5 browsers installed even though chrome is my daily driver.

[–]Ninjaman237 27 points28 points ago

who the fuck has 40 tabs open!?!?

[–]whodat6209 11 points12 points ago

What could you possibly need 40 tabs at once for?

[–]Kavyle 20 points21 points ago

[–]E_Snap 12 points13 points ago

Fuck, I almost clicked.

[–]Kavyle 2 points3 points ago

Oh, jeez, then it's a good thing I didn't link to /r/spaceclop ! That might have turned out badly...

[–]Steve_the_Scout 2 points3 points ago

Quick check on that subreddit shows people into horse porn and/or jokes about horse porn, for those of you who want to know but don't want to click.

Now I need to take a shower.

[–]Kavyle 1 point2 points ago

You could have just asked.

[–]Dared00 1 point2 points ago

Meh, whatever. At least it's not the FUCKING TVTROPES.

[–]Kavyle 0 points1 point ago

Arson

Murder

Jaywalking

[–]JackassPenguinass 17 points18 points ago

They cater to the average internet user. So one tab for webmail, one for news and 38 tabs are for porn.

[–]BluesCluesFan 11 points12 points ago

Research. I may be researching three products, and two 'concepts' at the same time.

That's a lot of tabs.

[–]NightlyNews 20 points21 points ago

I'm honestly not sure whether your talking about porn or not.

[–]DaiKamina 0 points1 point ago

For Science

[–]TapamN 3 points4 points ago

Tabs are the new bookmarks. Want to come back to something and don't want to forget about it? Leave it open in a tab.

I have around 250 open.

[–]mvolling 3 points4 points ago

How many windows are they on?

[–]keeperofdakeys 0 points1 point ago

Think of it like a stack, the last ten or so tabs are 'current', everything else is backlog. Occasionally you open a new tab to the right to start a new workflow, and may leave the previous one open. Firefox also allows you to go to a currently-open tab via a url. Else there is tab groups.

[–]keeperofdakeys 0 points1 point ago

I have 454. I should really start using tab groups sometime.

[–]Solarian1 0 points1 point ago

Wait, seriously? Porn. I like to open a bunch of promising videos on different tube sites, let them buffer up and then skim through them all and figure out what I want to fap to. Plus I generally have 3-4 instances of Reddit open, plus various other tabs. I have 11 tabs open right now, and I haven't gone to a single porn site yet.

[–]PineappleBoots 0 points1 point ago

Am I the only one that watches porn the right way?

[–]Danny_Martini 0 points1 point ago

Who would eat 30 bagged lunches?

[–]purpleblazed 2 points3 points ago

You'd be surprised. I call it tab hoarding.

[–]szchm 4 points5 points ago

I have about 1,100 open at the moment. I'd have more, but firefox routinely fails to start, like a squirrel bench-pressing a pickup truck. It's using... 2.1GB of ram right now.

Back when firefox hadn't been ruined by the over-enthusiastic developers, I'd have thousands of tabs open at a time without any problems.

[–]hexasquid 4 points5 points ago

I feel the same way about that as I feel about filling a car with cement.

[–]chelseyc 2 points3 points ago

I get stressed with more then 10 tabs open. How do you keep track of 1,100?!

[–]upper-deck 0 points1 point ago

I have 2,384,343 tabs open. Suck it.

[–]thiss 1 point2 points ago

I assume you have never browsed wikipedia or tvtropes.

[–]AshDroBoy 0 points1 point ago

porn

[–]neayaa 6 points7 points ago

And also a protip: use Adblock (and possibly Flashblock) to save CPU load and RAM.

[–]i_done_goof 0 points1 point ago

I'm ashamed with myself that I actually had to test that just now

[–]celestialwolf 47 points48 points ago

I think Chrome should have the Googly eyes

[–]i_roll 12 points13 points ago

Well, at least Opera wasn't totally forgotten on this one. I can't really explain why I am so loyal to the little browser.

[–]bilog78 5 points6 points ago

Probably because it's still better than all the othes, except for sites that specifically code against it.

[–]FallenOv -1 points0 points ago

Such is the case with my college's site...but their coding only works on IE and FF both of which are equally horrible imo.

[–]Kodix 1 point2 points ago

Fun fact: you can right click a page, go to page preferences->web, and set Opera to "introduce" itself as any other browser. Hasn't failed me yet.

For some incomprehensible reason, the above is necessary in order to use Google's reverse image search - they specifically exclude opera from its usage otherwise.

[–]rosaParrks 2 points3 points ago

Literally the only reason I use Chrome and not Opera is because of Netflix. Netflix will not stream on Opera. Other than that, Opera is my muse.

[–]Villainsoft 115 points116 points ago

More pithy commentary about internet browsers please! I find them hillarious and topical

[–]sarcasm--detector 57 points58 points ago

[–]AmbigramMan 1 point2 points ago

I'm not going to lie, this is one of the better/more useful novelty accounts I've seen.

[–]mszegedy 0 points1 point ago

Fucking gypsies, man. What's up with them? They're so degenerate and everything.

[–]th3KCshuffle 0 points1 point ago

Are...are we not using browsers anymore? I'm not up on all these fancy Internet things.

[–]LazybyNature 0 points1 point ago

Mmm yes. Shallow AND pedantic.

[–]leodavin843 23 points24 points ago

Last Chrome frame: Shit, Flash crashed.

[–]Amirix 5 points6 points ago

Yep, that's the only problem I have with Chrome. However, its no where near as bad as the problems I have with IE.

[–]MasteroftheLetterQ 25 points26 points ago

Lies. While Chrome's UI is better in general, Opera is the fastest.

[–]dorekk 3 points4 points ago

This.

[–]StealthyC 0 points1 point ago

Would someone please point me anywhere that proves this? I hear it all the time, yet it seems to lose every benchmark test I can find, and my personal experience backs that up.

Edit: The most recent I found that it does not win is this one: http://peacekeeper.futuremark.com/run.action

[–]blonderocker 21 points22 points ago

What's wrong with Opera?

I use it because I found firefox loads slowly, Chrome is always having flash crash on me, but Opera hasn't failed me yet.

[–]Evilmon2 10 points11 points ago

Don't worry, Opera is the master browser that every other browser has stolen its features from. Chrome and Firefox still can't even stack tabs.

[–]AlSpeer 7 points8 points ago

Nothing, and I call bullshit on Firefox being able to open more tabs. People are perpetually amazed at how lazy I am about closing tabs in Opera.

[–]Dukuz 0 points1 point ago

I don't think the tabs part is true. After reading it I checked to see

[–]ElusiveGuy 5 points6 points ago

Empty tabs are completely different from media heavy tabs, though. A couple dozen Reddit pages with RES is a great way to slow FF to a crawl. Also, that time I went Never Ending Reddit to page fifty-something... that was bad.

[–]ZacUAX 2 points3 points ago

I like Opera. Only thing I'll use on mobile devices. I tend to prefer Chrome on larger platforms though, it seems to run a bit smoother. But people really shouldn't hate. It's just a matter of opinion, and all 3 accomplish the same thing.

[–]blonderocker 2 points3 points ago

Yeah, they get the job done.

You know, reddit and fapping. That's all I need.

[–]ZacUAX 1 point2 points ago

Amen brother. Though you could reduce that down to just 'reddit', considering a few of the subreddits.

[–]Mar-kun 28 points29 points ago

I laugh... until I remember that Internet Explorer actually loads faster than Firefox on my computer. (And this is with no extensions.)

There's a reason I use Chrome.

[–]Lambocoon 18 points19 points ago

the people who use Firefox don't use it because it's faster

[–]dreadredheadzedsdead 40 points41 points ago

They seem to use it because they like the little fox icon.

[–]Kavyle 22 points23 points ago

Guilty.

[–]Matinglyttu 3 points4 points ago

hug

[–]justadude23 6 points7 points ago

I don't know what browser I should use or why I should use it. All I know for certain is that no matter what browser I do use, there's going to be a lot of strangers on the internet who are deeply upset about it.

Most of them will agree that IE is bad, of course, but some days I think it's like a bunch of scientologists and mormons and baptists agreeing that the catholics are terrible people.

You know what they say about trying to please everyone.

[–]Lambocoon -1 points0 points ago

you can't do it

and i wouldn't give a shit if you weren't talking down Firefox, because i like Firefox

i don't go around being like "ew, you use Chrome/IE/Opera/Safari/etc?" because that's just assholeish

[–]therearesomewhocallm 0 points1 point ago

If you are interested here is a quick summery:

Opera - cutting edge, many features other browsers don't yet support.

Firefox - highly customisable, although Chrome is starting to catch up.

Chrome - stable and fast. Generally runs best with older hardware.

IE - comes pre-installed with Windows.

[–]dorekk 6 points7 points ago

Yeah, Firefox sucks now.

Opera is better than all of them, though.

[–]DoubleRaptor 0 points1 point ago

Seriously. I can load up IE or Chrome and get to a website before Firefox even looks like it's opening.

[–]warrenseth 36 points37 points ago

I read it as "I farted". And I'm not going to acknowledge it says otherwise, because I got a good laugh out of it, and god damn it, I sure deserved that laugh.

[–]McLovin804 8 points9 points ago

And in the grand scheme of things, it makes sense anyway!

[–]GuBBs 49 points50 points ago

AM I THE ONLY ONE AROUND HERE WHO LIKES OPERA BETTER THAN CHROME!

[–]dorekk 32 points33 points ago

No. Opera is the best browser, period.

[–]ArgonGryphon 13 points14 points ago

I've been using Opera for years now, I use Chrome for a webgame I play that doesn't do so well on Opera for now, but once it catches up, I'll be back to only using Opera.

[–]dedfrog 0 points1 point ago

Cool story, bro.

[–]ArgonGryphon 0 points1 point ago

I'm not your bro, guy.

[–]purpleblazed 7 points8 points ago

I worked in a University computer lab for about a year, and installed Opera on every computer. By the end of the year pretty much all of my other co-workers were using Opera.

[–]RoboticOverlord -4 points-3 points ago

Every time i mention that I like opera i get downvoted by firetards and chromheads. Upvote for you for liking a clearly superior browser!

[–]Hingleton 36 points37 points ago

As an Opera lover, maybe they are down-voting you cause you call them "firetrads and chromheads". Just a thought.

[–]Jokuki 1 point2 points ago

I love Opera except for the fact that it doesn't start up as fast as Chrome does on my computer. Mouse gestures and the ability to have multiple quick websearches though? That shit was amazing. Love their speed dial design too. If it started up as fast as chrome and was more supported throughout the web I'd take it back in a heartbeat :(.

[–]Kodix 1 point2 points ago

Opera is brilliant. Switched from years of Firefox to years of Chrome to Opera (~7 months ago) - so far, Opera has been the best to me.

[–]olevaar 0 points1 point ago

Honestly, I really like both.

At work I use Chromium and Opera. At home in Linux I use Chromium. At home in Windows I use Opera. And I've really fallen in love with Opera Mobile.

I really like Chromium's minimalistic interface. At work I also use Opera a lot because of Dragonfly. It's an amazing tool. And everyone should use Opera Mobile. You can set it to compress data with Opera Turbo whenever you're not in wifi so that you don't consume as much of your data plan.

I never got people who hate on other browsers though. It's a preference thing, really.

[–]goyk 5 points6 points ago

[–]Vexxt 1 point2 points ago

Netscape? pretty much turned into firefox without the license.

[–]MayorChapstick 25 points26 points ago

Am I the only one whose IE starts up faster than all of the others, almost instantly?

[–]caseycoold 18 points19 points ago

Came here to say that. I did a fresh install of all the latest 64 bit browsers I could find, and IE was the fastest to start every time. After a year I retried and got the same thing. I don't get unwatned pop-ups, never had an malware... and they are free... why do so many internet jockies get a hard on for hating IE? No you are not all web devs. Also, I have done when development, and if you do it right, it's fine on all major browsers. go back to /circlejerk

[–]dorekk 5 points6 points ago

IE used to be terrible. Since 9, it's at least as good as Firefox and Chrome--I'd say much better.

Opera is more feature-rich than all three of them put together, though.

[–]Flyentologist 2 points3 points ago

As a web designer, I have some obvious qualms about IE, but as far as just using it goes, IE9 is genuinely on par with other browsers. Reddit by large would never acknowledge that, but it's not as bad an experience as posts like these make it out to be.

[–]cannot_be_found 4 points5 points ago

I am no lover of MS, but for some things, Firefox, chrome or opera just will not work. People jump on a bandwagon and ride the fuck out if it even if they know they are wrong.

[–]Genesis13 10 points11 points ago

My IE starts up faster and crashes less on both my desktop and laptop. People just like to be ignorant and circlejerk.

[–]Solarian1 -1 points0 points ago

I think OP needs an SSD, I can never tell what starts faster. The only load screens I get to see are Photoshop and Lightroom, everything else is click -> boom

[–]Vexxt 1 point2 points ago

If I remember correctly, thats because it preloads itself, in part. problem is, even if it starts faster, the page finishes rendering faster in chrome or firefox.

[–]Iamadinocopter 5 points6 points ago

It seems to me that Firefox likes to take longer to start than IE.

[–]dreadredheadzedsdead 1 point2 points ago

Agreed. Depends on which IE version I suppose.

[–]Dunngeon1 3 points4 points ago

Really? I feel like a goddamn lunatic here because everyone in the world hates IE and I see nothing wrong with it. Maybe because I have a max of 4 tabs at any given time? Who is opening 40 tabs?!

[–]TheClaw117 9 points10 points ago

The true redditors.

[–]dreadredheadzedsdead 0 points1 point ago

I usually open maybe a dozen at most, and quickly glance at them and decide what is worth my time and what isn't.

[–]dlove67 1 point2 points ago

It's a shitty browser because of the extra work it makes developers go through, "special" standards that are standard only to IE, and older security issues don't help.

[–]asshatnowhere 2 points3 points ago

ok on a slightly unrelated note, who here uses opera? whats good/special about it? serious question, I have no idea how it works really

[–]Rain_Seven 5 points6 points ago

Opera has a really cool interface, with an awesome little start menu at the top left. Only reason i don't use it is because I like how simple Chrome is.

[–]purpleblazed 0 points1 point ago

I like that you can choose to open new tabs in the background so you can continue on the same page you currently are on or you can choose to go to the new tab immediately.

plus other fun features

[–]Hingleton 4 points5 points ago

The main thing that I like about Opera is that it isn't great anything. It's not the fastest, the simplest, and certainly doesn't have the most add-ons. Rather, they chose to be good at everything, for me at least, there is nothing opera is really terrible at. It's just a well balanced browser, that in addition to the awesome security and the great community; there is just no other browser out there that I know of that is meant for me. Also, I'm not gonna lie, it feels kinda great to use a browser that's somewhat obscure. I find that gives it a really great and tight-nit community.

[–]bilog78 0 points1 point ago

Well, by and large Opera works like any other browsers. It's pretty fast (it used to be the fastest, but then competition started ramping up), it's pretty small (it used to be the smallest, but then etc), it was the first browser to implement a proper SDI (single-document interface, "tabs"; but the SDI in Opera is more sophisticated than just tabbing, and its tabbing interface is still better than the competitors'), it's very flexible with keyboard usage (almost everything is accessible with the keyboard), and it has a lot of small useful built-in features that on the competitors need you to download heaps of extensions (this, by the way, is why Opera started exposing an extensions API only very recently). It has its bugs (no program is perfect) and it's not open-source, but it's still the browser that exposes the most user-friendly interface of all. And not just because I'm used to it.

Personally, I use Opera as my main browser, and only use Chromium or more rarely Firefox as fallbacks for sites that really don't play well with Opera.

[–]MangekyoSharingan 2 points3 points ago

I can't seriously be the only person who has WAY more problems with Chrome than I do with Internet Explorer

[–]drnick5 1 point2 points ago

I always find that Firefox takes FOREVER to open.. even longer then IE. Chrome for life!

[–]ArgonGryphon 2 points3 points ago

What the hell kind of old ass computer did you have that could only open 30 tabs in Opera. I commonly opened 150 on a webgame I played. Took a while to load them all of course, but never froze or anything.

[–]Cptnwalrus 0 points1 point ago

Even as I type this comment my computer is lagging, why does Firefox use slow down my laptop so much if it can open 40 pages...

[–]cefriano 0 points1 point ago

I get pinwheels all the time with Chrome.

[–]sagewah 3 points4 points ago

SO BRAVE (and somewhere incorrect these days)

[–]Shoup64 1 point2 points ago

i think this belongs in these comments...

I feel like I'm the only one here who doesn't use a mainstream browser

[–]ArgonGryphon 0 points1 point ago

Hipster.

[–]sdre468 0 points1 point ago

No I just got it recommended to me by a friend and I liked it

[–]ArgonGryphon 0 points1 point ago

It was a joke anyway, because mainstream.

[–]TrollInTraining 0 points1 point ago

What do you use?

[–]sdre468 0 points1 point ago

Rockmelt it's faster than chrome for me and it's entertaining translating Facebook into arabic

Seamonkey is still one of my favorites

[–]Beast_and_the_harlot 1 point2 points ago

I don't get what's so wrong with Internet explorer. I use it all the time and it doesn't give me any problems. And who needs to open fifty pages at once, anyway?

But then again I greatly dislike change and am not willing to change to another browser to compare.

[–]BadgerBadger8264 0 points1 point ago

People are dissing internet explorer because they haven't used it since 2000. It used to be a very bad browser compared to Firefox, but the latest versions are actually really good and Firefox has deteriorated a lot over the years. Currently I prefer IE over Firefox and find it only slightly worse than Chrome. It's by no means a bad browser.

IT support here. FF and IE are so fucking vulnerable to malicious addons (we have some 7000 users with full admin rights). removing this crap is a nightmare. Also, Opera is the only browser which doesn't allow any virus or addon change your start page / default search engine. Oh, there are no annoying toolbars either.

I can't stop looking at the one eye on the fox...perfect alignment !!!

[–]Schnozzle 0 points1 point ago

So apparently Firefox can open hundreds of tabs. In just a few seconds.

[–]AlSpeer 1 point2 points ago

Bahaha, since when.

[–]Fryes 0 points1 point ago

I max use like six tabs..

I know I've run out of stuff to do when both aero snap tabs are on facebook.

[–]Scarmanz -1 points0 points ago

I don't get it IE is fastest browser that works on my system.

[–]firefae_ignis 0 points1 point ago

"I farted" FIFY

[–]blackjackjester 0 points1 point ago

Am I the only person who has a computer where IE opens faster than opera or FF? They all open within. 5 seconds of clicking the button.

[–]Choiceface 1 point2 points ago

Googly eyes? I think you mean Bing-y eyes!

[–]aspartam 1 point2 points ago

What about netscape?

[–]celestias_beard 1 point2 points ago

The new internet explorer run just as fast as the competitors

[–]sewthesexy1 0 points1 point ago

Repost, but fuck it, I'm drunk

[–]IAmNoneYa -1 points0 points ago

Who the fuck needs 40 pages open at once

[–]ply447 0 points1 point ago

Tvtropes has that effect on me.

[–]IrrelevantLeprechaun -1 points0 points ago

Am I the only internet user who uses IE because I don't give a shit what others think of my browser? I can get onto the internet with IE. That pretty much covers my basic requirements of a net browser.

And frankly? It runs perfecctly fine.

[–]josephanthony 0 points1 point ago

Shut-up IE, I only clicked on you by mistake!

[–]TheLemonKing 0 points1 point ago

In my experience Firefox is twice as fast as Chrome, and I've had them both on three different computers. I'm not "dissing" Chrome or anyone that uses it, it's a great browser, I'm just saying that the evidence shows that Chrome is not quite as fast as advertised.

edit: I accidentally a grammar.

[–]ply447 0 points1 point ago

My computer has stability issues with chrome, i've had days where it crashed 10+ times in a 2 hour period, don't have those problems with firefox.

[–]shutUPandPLAY 0 points1 point ago

Whelp you are probably the only person on the planet to have come to those results.

[–]Nebakanezzer 1 point2 points ago

I used to use firefox religiously, but I've found on the hole it has more security holes than opera. opera blocks a lot of malware and things that launch or are embedded in websites before it has the chance to get on your machine and become an issue for your antivirus.

[–]TheDukeDude 0 points1 point ago

Brave level: SO

[–]Baardi 1 point2 points ago

opera is faster than firefox...

[–]SANDYSQUID -1 points0 points ago

Firefox > Chrome

[–]alps25 0 points1 point ago

Waterfox>All (for x64)

Speed of Chrome + approx. 1gb RAM for 40 tabs=awesome.

[–]pinchymojo 0 points1 point ago

Did anyone else read the IE icon's line like Matt Damon in Team America?

[–]Isek 1 point2 points ago

I don't care which browser can open more tabs. Only Firefox can handle tabs in an organized fashion like this.

[–]Buyn 0 points1 point ago

Reminder that that is not the original. But rather this: x.

[–]Aelok 0 points1 point ago

So the "good" browsers pick on retards?

[–]weinerschnitzelboy 0 points1 point ago

I feel sorry for Safari. They always get left out of the browser comparisons.

[–]CammTheMuss 0 points1 point ago

I had chrome, but all of a sudden it wouldnt open, and windows started running slow. Finally was able to download opera, uninstalled chrome and windows is now running faster, but opera always says 'not responding'. What do?

[–]shutUPandPLAY 0 points1 point ago

Umm, get rid of the virus?

[–]CammTheMuss 0 points1 point ago

According to my antivirus, my system is clean..

[–]cyrusaf 0 points1 point ago

Jesus, it isn't that IE preforms worse. It's that IE interpret code like shit. You have to rewrite your entire website so that it works for IE because fucking Microsoft doesn't want to stick with the goddamn standards. Fuck you IE.

[–]deruben 0 points1 point ago

Programmer speaking: IE10 is actually pretty fast...and the design is veryvery ergonomic and nice. I use IE10...
