Well what I meant to say in a convoluted way was that it is a vicious cycle in that its not popular because it isn't televised, and it isn't televised because it is hard to put ads and isn't popular.

Also, think of what soccer would potentially be replacing. In football there are 60 second breaks quite frequently to show dedicated ads (in comparison with passive ads seen in soccer pitches). In baseball there are tons of breaks to show dedicated ads, and just as many in basketball and hockey.

Basically, theres more money to be made advertising in one of the more major sports, because for one, not many at this point would be happy with soccer replacing the regular airing of their major home town teams or during primetime TV hours. So it would get pushed back to odd times if shown at all. Marketers don't want to pay for ads that one don't get much dedicated air time and aren't aired at an optimal time.

Moreover, networks don't want to pay for air time if they don't have enough money from advertising and cable viewership.

But the lack of intrest, marketing revenue, and viewership causes for low ticket sales and low salary caps. So this causes for less than ideal competition.

Even more so, this lack of attention all together causes the local MLS teams to get overlooked, which causes the lack of intrest.

Then we go back to square 1. It's a really unfortunate vicious cycle.
