There are a ton of chances at a Blue Angels show to capture this kind of shot. It's not too difficult.

This specific maneuver is called the Knife Edge Pass.

Technically the image would be an interesting symmetrical shape if the photo was taken at any point of their passing where they were in front of each other.

If we wanted to, we could figure out the probably speed of both planes, and their distance from each other and the camera, and figure out the exact amount of time he'd have to take a picture and get a symmetrical plane-shapething.

I saw the Blue Angels at an air show a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, one of the jets crashed during the final routine of the show. The pilot didn't make it out. Everybody just stood there dumbstruck.

I love the Blue Angels. I grew up watching them practice on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings @ 9am. Only thing is, they do it directly over the PNAS golf course. Try hitting a drive, putt, or anything really when 6 F-18's go screaming overhead! Literally shakes the ball on the green.

The Blue Angels are fucking amazing. My dad was a naval pilot and was based in Pensacola, FL (where the Blue Angels are also based) so growing up I got to see them a handful of times. I don't have a remote interest in aviation and I still think these guys are awesome.
